Man! I never realized what a large CLEAN aircraft it is. Look at frontal area @1.49 in video. All flaps and spoilers are in the center section! I agree, it must be mostly carbon fiber and super stiff. Imagine the torsional bending moment on the tail booms in turbulence. The Rutans are our modern living aviation Da Vinchis
Wow! It looks like it wouldn't even get off the ground, let alone up to the edge of space, yet it does! I hope trips on it become affordable in my lifetime, thanks for posting!:)
My dad actually works at an airport and the whitenight (1) and spaceshipone landed there and I got to see it in person in a hangar!! I was also at Eaa when this landed and when the A380 landed.
Amazing engineering, wonder what kind of bending/twisting forces are on the main spar that keeps both modules in line, both on the ground and in the air.
