Personally... I think these machines are a waste of tax payers dollars, it's just a giant remote controlled car with semi limited ability to map terrain in it's local vicinity, it has no A.I, it can't react to changing circumstances, it can't pick targets, it can't detect an ambush, know when to call for support...

These sort of things just take money away from what is really needed...

There's a guy watching the camera on it that can either call air support, shoot at the target, etc. So you have a couple guys safe in a room somewhere operating this machine or you have hundreds of soldiers in harms way. Which one makes more sense?

It doesn't need to think like a human because it is controlled by one. And yes, it's good for recon missions because it is built for recon missions. Its versatility also makes it very effective for assault and support.

Technology can be really interessting in any kind of it, an of course we have to protect ourselves, but it would be better to force power in technological fields like new energy sources or vehicles that reach remote areas.
