@BOSOX9004 It will do over time. Programmatic music was sniffed at by the overly serious musos (,you know the ones, they sit in concerts waiting for mistakes) but thankfully not by some of the great composers such as RVW who took to the new technique of writing for film with great relish. The musos will die off.
The Elizabethan section early on shows what a great composer he was. It was perfect for the film (as we panned in on the Globe Theatre). So bizarre to think it is now rebuilt - was the music and the film part of the inspiration to rebuild it?
for those who might be interested, sir william walton composed another related piece, titled "henry v overture" for brass orchestra. it's not a part of the soundtrack, and i can't recall if it was composed before or after it but it's recorded by hyperion and is highly recommended.
A few days ago I discovered from the same album the score from "Samson and Delilah". I felt the same wonderful feeling of listening for the first time in 30 years these two scores I've been searching for so long. This two scores, specially "Henry V"'s, have been playing on my mind very frequently, because they had very special meaning for me. I thank you deeply for made go back to those years.
This should get more credit for being one of the most thrilling pieces of music written.
