From what I understand, that short had a copyright on it and they were waiting for the copyright to run out so they could use it. They had it for the longest time and made more than one reference to it without ever showing it, until they were finally able to just in the nick of time in season 10.
Anybody catch that little magic trick at 2:50? I just noticed it this time playing through -- nifty! :D Then again, Joel did use stage magic from time to time during his stand-up career. Or so I've heard.

Sadly, the waffle iron malfunctioned, and my favorite image of waffles has been lost to the ages. Forget the Eggo or the economy-size bags in the grocer's freezer-they just don't do it for me like the old days!
That's crazy - I just watched the spring short in Squirm and realized what Crow was doing in this episode - obviously the MST writers saw the spring short years before they riffed it.
