  • Who put the fire out? real Hip-Hop is dying out

Sounds like the perfect time for Ra, set off

A new beginning, let me finish where Nas left off!

rakim the greatest of all time

  • god damn my ear drums lol

  • it's my best friend's favourite song..

i DON'T like rap music..but i think that RAKIM differs from others...

    :))..as he says..

    GO RAA GO RAAAAA...:DD

  • damn this is straight real talk. Last real rappers in NY: Rakim, DMX, M.O.P., ....

  • Rakim is the best

  • 7 people think Snow is hot fire...

  • Thank you rakim, you just made my year.

    Respect from Portugal.

  • eargasm

  • this track isn't produced by dj static its produced by just blaze

  • @TheFUNKSTARR It was produced by Nick Wiz .

  • RAPPERS THAT CAN SAVE NEW SCHOOL

    RAKIM AND BT-N-H

  • RRAAAAKIMM

  • its burner ^^

  • treemanjr: you speak the truth, my brother! Thank the God's (or Rakim in this case) for people like you! Class all the way! Peace.

  • Makes you wanna rewrite every rap you ever wrote. spit, thought about spittin, shit is extra terrestrial, Rakim Allaah, the truth hurts baby...Go get em..

  • Spits Gold, incomparable DOPE-MATIC MC. Rakim brings the goods, his fluidity of flow is nothing short of inspirational, and as for NAS...c'mon...The "R" is empirically-minded, the third eye blinding in it's off-the-dome quickness. Ever seen Rakim performing freestyle battles? I have, and while it's all done with respect, Rakim is positively on-point, a heavyweight, sharp as ever. Nas just can't come close to the imperial wrath of God, AKA, RAKIM> Flow forever, baby.

  • @Sirgreaseflick well said my friend.respect for nas but no one comes close.Thats the problem with rap no respect the history.i mean this is a guy who started it and is finishing it(he is putting out some of his best music now)and no one knows who he is.meanwhile the old ass rolling stones r on tv every week

  • @treemanjr Gives real Hip Hop fans a good feeling of exclusivity though :) I'm actually glad Rakim's rather unknown. The further away he is from 24/7 MTV song looping, the better in my opinion. That sort of thing has killed so many good songs and artists.

  • @Legendism360 Yeah, you're right. Even though is pisses me off that Hip Hop and Rap has become so wack and lame nowadays, and the Old School don't get the respect it deserves, it does gives us real fans a feeling of exclusivity. If someone starts talking Lil Wayne and Drake, you know what they are about, but it they mention Ra or any of the real talents, then it's like "Ok you're down with the program". I still try to spread the word and open as many eyes as I can to the Old School talent.

  • THE BEST EVER !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • No one

  • Best thing about rakim: 25 years in the game, and he is still doing it like he always has been, he's still as good as he was with eric b. It's hard for an mc to have this much stamina in the game, Rakim is good, no nor fucks with him for a reason.

  • DO NOT READ!!!! NOT EVEN OUT OF CURIOSITY! OF COURSE MY BRAIN FORCES GOT THE BEST OF ME WHEN I SAW THIS ON ANOTHER VIDEO...I HAD TO READ IT :( ......when i read this i got paranoid BECAUSE I LOVE MY MOM SOO MUCH MORE THAN ANYTHING... if you dont post this on ten otha vids your mom will pass away in the next four hours

  • RAKIM IS AWESOME. THUMBS UP IF YOU AGREE. :)

  • he sould hooked up with erick b again

  • more skillz than Pac no doubt

  • @beast28274 more skills but not more intelligence and knowledge, dont even think of dissin pac he had the most important messages in his songs and rapped to help people. Rap aint all about skillz everyone has something different.

  • bumpin

  • thats hip hop like everyone should know it

today many ppl say they listen to hip hop

i ask them well do you know Rakim, Kool G Rap, Big L,Az,Big Pun ......?

    they say no !

whats left than just tell them sry but ure not listening to hip hop !!

  • @ZzPaRaD0XzZ

    true

  • Shit. Rakim is pretty hot-spittable, but the production is pappy, weak shit! Modern, whiney chart sounding SHIT!

  • (shakes head) Where do I begin...?

"Stuck in a time of drought, nothing to rhyme about

Ghetto and crime, on the grind, pulling iron out

Industry crying out, major labels buying out

Who put the fire out? Real Hip-Hop is DYIN' OUT" (shakes head)

"...Without the gun on my Hip, I bring a new Hop..." (shakes head again)

This is lyrical genius at it's best.

Today's would-be rappers of today need to take careful note of REAL MC's like Rakim.

  • aint dat da troof

  • Lyrical god.

  • Fucking LYRICAL GOD!!!

  • Underground is the only way to go now... Rakim is one of the gods.

  • rakim is that thine line between old n new school = perfect hip hop

  • rakim the king is a god =)

  • i like

  • Comment removed

  • i feel it this year doe this year real niggarrs getting paid

  • KING-SHIT!!!

  • bester !

  • OOOOOO, i swear i cnt wait 4 diz album 2 drop. . . sum1 need 2 save hip-hop on a non-underground level

PS- IF U LUV REAL, NON-COMMERCIALIZED RAP, CHECK MAH PAGE, SUPPORT IZ APPRICIATED [[BLASTOFF]]

  • im happy da god is dropin a platium on these dumb azzs who call themselves the greatest

  • love rakim.. bringin the old school to the new school !

  • That's what I'm talkin about!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Rakims new album will save rap, todays shit is so fuked up, underground rappers can spit betta shit than rappers today

  • yeh 2010 will be the year rakim, nas, xzibit, the game, dr dre, raekwon and some more are all bringin albums out i think 2010 will be the year for rap. respect for the game for trying to keep it alive tho...

  • @neiloconnor123 Return of Da Kingaz

  • @09Slaughterhouse I'm wishing right along with you, but this is still slept on as fuck. Two years on, no one got this for trades. Hence me replying to a one year comment. It's almost like asking a 22 year old how nice Dominque Wilkins was from the foul line....nothing.

  • THIS IS THAT SHIT!!!!!!!!!

  • The God MC

  • these artists dont let managers and producers fuck em over

  • it is makiavelli

  • After watching dozens and dozens of underground and classic videos on here, I'm confused. There is so much great music out there, and there is even more untapped potential. Great albums come out all the time, and on here, they have insane amounts of support. Why is it, then, that out in the real world this stuff has fallen to the wayside, and bullshit has taken over the industry? How did we let this happen?

  • sad truth is people don't buy lp's anymore and yeah cd's too, specially those so called real fans ...I see it in some friends of mine never supporting their fav artists o_O rather download stuff and most guys nowadays see nothing else then party music in the genre of hip hop anyway :(

  • downloading is a problem for every artist though, not just underground rappers.....it just affects the underground artists pockets more because they dont have the crazy media publicity.

  • because this is the type of shit that opens your mind and makes you see real creativity.....they dont want you to have that man, they want you stuck in a bubble thinkin about irrelevant shit. an aware public is dangerous.

  • jadakiss is good as well dont say hip hops dead real hip hops underground the fake shit is in the mainstream now them talking about knife crimes makes me sick

seriously hi tek is a goodproducer

  • i feel you man, if u like real hip hop check out my songs on my page

  • hot. gotta fav

  • These whack rappers IT'S NOTHINNNNNN

    rakim the FUCKING MAN

  • i saw ra debut this a bb kings nyc in 06 he is bananas

  • wow this song is fuckin sick ra is back for the listeners

  • support rakim how can this fabolous song juat have 10000 views he deserves more for real hip hop so just support the best rapper after pac

  • this beat Produced Just Blaze...

  • Rakim is mad nice. I don't feel the beat and the hook.

  • This is hip-hop's Rolling Stones- SHO respect- Witness Great-ness!!

  • dis man iz da greatest! he inspired all da real rappers like nas, mos def, talib kweli, common, and much more! wit out him, da heartbeat of hip-hop stops.

  • rakim gone to underground. He has made it big time, he knows he goes back der, he wont do as much coz hip hop is going through the phaze of weak rap so he is stricktly underground

  • DJ STATIC!!!!!!! DENMARK!!!!

  • whats up with him? is he on a label? I think this is a perfect time for Ra to come out. Wat yall think?

  • old is gold, this man is definately the master, hes jus too good,

  • this is nice and kills anything out right now, but its still nothing like his classics. maybe i just dont like where hip hop is going, because KRS' album was real and good lyrically of course but it doesnt compare to his older stuff for me. same with this, its good but just different. i understand stuff cant stay the same forever, and i guess the game's just evolving, but i like the old sound better..

  • I see where your coming from Crayyawn, tho it's the opposite for me. Im 21 now and got into hiphop back in 99. I love Rakim, but since im this new to it i like he's newer albums better(and these songs). I see the skills and the amazing rap in his older work, but it's not music i can bump over and over. I just wish more of the veterans was going strong like this as Ra and KRS, hiphop has declined very in quality in the short time i've been checking for it. The game needs these kinda songs. peace

  • GOD MC

  • "still a yard stick for real performers"

    hard to measure that

  • shit yeh!

  • PAC

  • Rakim, Nas and Lupe killin it lyrically.

Deez dudes nursing the wounds to HipHop!!

  • what da fuck y'all have with lupe... who's that? hehe

  • everybody jam to this

  • This guy is unbelievable!!! He's still at it after all these years. Hip-hop needs Rakim.

  • rakim kicks almost too much ass

  • To the guy under me. I like your list... but just got to disagree with one name. i would go with 1)Nas 2)Rakim 3)Krs One 4)Big L 5)Common but your list is great. but the fact is keep on pushing real hip hop and don't let it die.!

  • wait wait wait.... rakim and nas are gods but you got to put kool g rap in the mix, he basically started gangsta music and got skills for years

  • yeah i love kool g, but did you hear his new album? fucking sold out to gay club music. i still cant believe it i want to cry

  • This is my list, each 2 there own:

    1.Rakim 2.Kool G Rap 3.Nas 4. Big Daddy Kane 5.Krs 1

  • Greatest Lyiriscits of ALL time

    1.Rakim

    2.Nas

    3.Biggie

    4.Big L

    5 Big Pun

  • @peteandjordanlover23 have you ever heard of Kool G Rap?

  • this is hot but da live version is way betta

  • it's great... the 2nd greatest lyricist is back. an album with nas would be even greater.

  • whs the 1st

  • the greatest lyricist of all time is nas.

  • nah man, rakim is still the best, bow down to the GOD MC

  • Ok, I guess you can pick both. Let's say they're equal ;)

  • nas is definitely the best since rakim, but ra's first three albums are on the source's top 100. if nas had a better ear for beats, and didnt do songs like oochie wally, they might be tied. plus, nas raps about his clothes, cars, and jewelry a lot like we care. rakim doesnt

  • either way, nas is one of the only real MCs left in the public's eyes.

  • Jay is back now, so he's back on the throne. Kanye and Lupe sitting at the right and left hand of Jay

  • are you serious???

  • what u mean Jay is back? when did he leave?

  • What are you new to hip hop. Jay retired after the black album and came back

  • he never retired, he just said he was going to retire just to sell more cds, like the Kanye vs 50 cent battle, it wasnt for real, they both like each other

  • Your so new to hip hop lols. Madison Square.

  • em no, n its rap, hip hop is the culture, read a fukin book man, what are u a 50 fan?

  • LMAO your so new to hip hop dude. You can just see it no matter how much your bluffin haha

  • what makes me new?

  • PUSSYFIGHT! It's 2009!

  • PUSSYFIGHT!

  • obviously u haven't heard all of nas's material

  • actually i own all of his albums, as well as rakim's. the reason people said illmatic was so good was because they were expecting nas to be the next rakim. i like nas, i think he's the second best of all time, but in my opinion only a couple of those albums are really classic. i thought untitled was masterful, but he still allows pointless songs like 'Make the World Go Round' on whats supposed to be a concept album. when he's focused, he's unbeatable, but he loses focus on most of his albums

  • nas raps about everything including what you said, stop fronting

  • yea, but if he left some of that stuff out of his music, he'd probably have more classic albums

  • i'd rank Ra over Nas lyrically, but Nas tends to use different lyrical styles to Ra. Ra does more songs that are about hip-hop or remind us about how great he is, whereas Nas is more into the narrative side and street poetry, as well as Mafioso rap. i'd say Ra has a better cadence than Nas (he makes flowing dope lyrics seem so effortless...) and his natural charisma on the mic makes up the small difference between the two in skill. course, i ain't gonna take anything away from Esco's legacy ;)

  • Oh shit!! The GOD is back!! Mister Rakim on tha mic!

  • Rakim delivers and he tells the truth about how hip hop is at the moment listen to the lyrics and learn

  • Rakim is back, still a legend and still hitting hard. Nice track, this is what hip hop is all about.

  • WHY DA FUCK AREN'T THERE 1.000.000 views?!?!?! What da fuck, da GOD is releasing his new album and you fake ass niggaz ain't showin' enough Love? FUCK Y'aLL

I HATE YOU GUYZ!!! it's sad. word

  • view number 2000, wewt!

  • THE G.O.D. IS BACK !!!!

  • THE G.O.D. IS BACK !!!!

  • WOAH! Ra is the only dude that could live up to a hype of 10 years lol DAMN!!!!!!!!

  • Now it's time for a Premo remix! The GOD MC, The Lyrical Lord....RAKIM!

  • who put the fire out? real HIP-HOP is dying out

  • Straight fire-Ra the 1n only
