I went to the 1965 Old Timers Day, Joe DiMaggio hit a Home Run in the OT game, During the regular game Whitey Ford faced off vs Luis Tiant of the Indians, Joe Pepitone hit 2 Home Runs, Yankees won in the bottom of the 9th, Just a little sidenote, My brother and I were shoving each other on the way out, My brother tripped into 2 older ladies, They turned out to be Mrs Babe Ruth and Mrs Lou Gehrig.
@nutballgazette, did your father kick you and brother's ass for acting a fool around the two legend's wives? Wow, I would have paid to even spend 5 seconds with the two of them even if Babe and Lou were already long dead by that time you were kids.
I'm as sentimental as they come but let's get over it....the old stadium was grand and historic and the memories will last forever for those of us who experienced it. The new stadium is beautiful and a great place to enjoy a game. It has already hosted a World Champion and more memories will be created.
I love these home movies. Brings back memories of when my father took me and my brothers to Old Timers' Games in the 60's. I know he took some home movies too. I have to find them.
Great video. Makes the '70's "modernization" seem all the more sickening. Still, the renovated stadium had one thing the Yanks new slick, shiny generic mallpark doesn't.......soul. Damn, I hate that place. Never thought I'd envy the Red Sox.
The mid-70's renovation is something that was actually necessary. They got rid of the view-obstructing pillars and made it look nice. And it did not lose too much soul or history. This most recent version I truly dislike. It's a symbol of much of what's wrong in society. "So-called" advancements which are dehumanizing and cold. As far as I'm concerned there is no Yankee Stadium anymore.

@redmustang03 Not too sure how close they were, I think the Yankees brought them in, and took care of everything

@nutballgazette, I'm surprised its usually the Dad, the Mom usually just yells at you, but I guess in your case that was the other way around.

They should have at least put the new stadium on the site of the old one, so that way it would still be the same field that was always there.
