I see there is a royer on the right speaker, and assuming sm57 on the left.
What pres were used, and what kind of board was this ran through.
This demo is superd. And the soho is THE fattest el84 amp i've ever heard. It's my favorite tube! I've been looking for somethingi in the range of an ac30 and jcm 800. And i think tonally this amp has what i've been looking for!
@mrweems Yes! A Royer 121 and an SM57. It was SSL board but straight signal path, no coloring whatsoever, just a killer sounding room. Please let me know if you need any more information! Cheers! Dan
@dboul Ah, thanks for the reply Dan. Didn't know this was your youtube account. Kind of honored for your actual reply! That's what i thought, and yes the room sounds amazing.
Just graduating college, so maybe i'll be getting some cash in the mail. I'll be putting it towards a Soho head. I keep coming back to this demo. One of the best sounding amps out there in my opinion.
Would you say that this amp has an ac30 type of characteristic with a marshall emphasis on the mids?
What is the small L-to-R toggle between the Treble and Volume on the amp in the demo? It looks like the boost switch on my London, but my Soho doesn't have it.
@StaticRick , yes it's a booster which was not on very early SoHo's. Your soho is already set at the higher gain level, this switch is actually coolling off the later versions. Cheers! Dan
These amps really just seem to shine. Great amps and I will own soon.
