You may not be a professional but this was the best interview of Chomsky I've seen, simply because you ask questions that I'm sure come to most peoples minds when they hear him speak. Like about law n order in anarchism.
Yes, focus on prevention and education instead of punishment on social problems is a wisdom most people of today don't see. Sometimes you try to bring it up but very few people are receptive to the idea. They rather would indugle on the authoritarian doctrines, like police work, deterents, punishment and so on. This is a residue of history, most people who believe in these methods have irrational nostalgias for the past and are immersed in its doctrines.Hopefully we fully overcome this sometime.
It's a shame more people don't look at the problem of crime more rationally and recognize the roots of social problems, usually based on social conditions (though not discounting personal responsibility), rather than directing hatred, racism, or intolerance towards others.
"The most violent element in society is ignorance." -Emma Goldman
Well said. Unfortunately, at least here in Britain, the answer seems to be to build more prisons and lock more people up at huge cost to the tax payer and more importantly to society.
Thank you for your interview. I know I'd be nervously and madly stuttering in front of this man. Great job man.

"intellectual demigod" is a really good term to define Chomsky!
my intellectual demigods are Karl Marx and Kalashnikov, unfortunately I won't be able to meet them because one is dead and the other is 90 :D
