  • @BigMek456 and silly Arisaka

  • Mauser is quit good, but Germany made a huge mistake by making it the standard weapon of soldiers together with MP40.

They should have built a semi-automatic weapon or something.

Most battles were fought only 100-300 meters distance and a semi-automatic rifle would have done the job much better. Especially in assault operations.

  • @VictumRoManius They did build a semi-automatic rifle; the K43/Gewehr 43 but I don't think that it was never adobted for a standard issue rifle.

  • @VictumRoManius they later issued the StG44 which was better then ANYTHING but it was expensive (it was the first assualt rifle ever) but they Had a Semi auto rifle it was the Gewher 43 or something i think the brits were the only ones without semi autos (they probably had the garand though since it was a Canadian Designed gun)

  • @alekzander2010 most i meant like 2

  • @VictumRoManius

Actually every squad had a machine gun. So, it wasnt that urgend need for a automatic rifle, especially on the defensive.

  • @lucius1976 Thats exactly the problem. The did not have that much problems in defence, but in the offensive it gave them huge problems. In my previous comment i said "Especially in assault operations"

MP40 was a automatic maschine pistol, but it many flaws and accuracy was lacking.

  • the mosin nagant is better

  • this is much better than the loosy enfield

  • @BigMek456 i think the enfield and the kar98 were both GREAT the Mosin Nagant and the Springfield i doubt

    they still are Great

    Bolt actions FTW!

  • @alekzander2010 mosin nagant you doubt 0.75 moa to 1.5 moa same with the kar98k you do realize the mosin nagant is still used in the current war and is the longest rifle out of all 4 still in use and with the fact that it's more durable it's a better candidate for the weathers iraq brings to it you do realize that the mosin nagant is still more accurate than most remington 700's

  • @MrDip02 i dont doubt anything you said but that they are more accurate than a rem 700 maybe equal but unless you get a lemon the 700's tend to be really quality

  • @deej1478 yeah i should have been more specific because of course the majority of Remington will be more accurate since the mosin was quickly made but a i high quality mosin would definitely would be i hate how people say there inaccurate you are the only one that i know that actually admits that

  • @deej1478 like im not doubting the kar98k or any other rifle and not over estimating it really impresses me how today's rifle take so much more work and have them as accurate as rifles back in ww2 that took twice less time and for extreme low price and durability

  • @MrDip02 craftsmanship may have been better back then but people i think choose knew rifles for the scope mounts looks weight and the fact that the ammo used in older rifles isn't as available or the choices for type of ammo isnt as large but it probably because people think newer is better and its hard not to fall into the group but these old bolt actions are certainly quality and probably tougher than any modern bolt action

  • @deej1478 i agree

  • @deej1478 i just learned remignton made mosin nagants to :/

  • @alekzander2010 longest served i mean

  • @BigMek456 the Enfield is as GREAT as the K98k but the springfield isnt that good or great!!

  • i must say, what beauties. I'm a proud owner of 2 mausers, neither have ever let me down!

  • ...That's not Hitler.

  • @memorymender9 hitler in ww1 had a long mustache, research and u will see

  • yeaah me and my uncle went hunting for deer my weopon of choice the mauser 98 k baby

  • does anyone see a problem with hitler bullet proof car - its got no roof,it kinda cancels out the bullet proof part

  • @dov3r87 yeah lol

  • i got one, you hardly need more than 3 rounds at any given time :D

  • I think the mosin nagant should have made the list beyond any doubt, any rifle that was kept in service for the better part of a centry should be on the list. the round they developed for it is still being used. on top of that it is simply an excilent rifle. even 60 years after they stoped making them.

  • I love this rifles it's my favorite rifles, but I love all german guns. they really did know a lot about guns and tanks.

  • i wonder what the two elite solders names where?

  • the mosin nagant was more accurate than the kar98k-_-

  • @MrDip02 yeah, but the bolt on the Mauser is a lot more smooth.

  • @LooksLegitBro i have to agree on the that one

  • @MrDip02 you wish the mosin is shit can't hit the broad side of a barn

  • @ethanreipold88 you're fucking retarded it took the russians 3 shots to zero in the scope it took the germans 5 shots to zero it in the american rifleman magazine have proved that the mosin nagant is more accurate than the kar98k

  • @ethanreipold88 study up on it before actually talking shit infact you probably have NEVER shot a gun in your life also vassili zaitsev hit and killed 3 germans in 3 shots across the volga river 800 yards away in a building dumb shit

  • @MrDip02 for your info asshole i own 3 rifles and have shot all them i have been shot foe 16 years and i have personally shot one and it was total piece of shit ,1 there are 9 feet long with the bayonet on it.,2 the quality sucks,3 it shoots 6 feet to the left so don't assume its the mother of all fuck ups. Fucking insulting i may have shot more guns then you have when it comes down it history does not determine the proformance of the firearm its done by the shooting it.......

  • @ethanreipold88 HAHAHAH YOURE FUCKING RETARDED if you think the mosin nagant is 9 feet long with the bayonet and it does not shoot 6 feet to the the quality sucks its been used in the fucking war do you think it is mint condition just because you got a beaten up one does not mean ALL of them are if you knew anything about guns you would know that

  • @MrDip02 i have a mint condition moisn asshole paid 100 dollars for it the worst money i spent, fact is the mauser is better and that is my opinion if you don't like that i got 4 words for you ....SUCK IT FUCK FACE...

  • @ethanreipold88 i own 3 mausers 1 mosin nagaunt 81/90 never used brand fucking new out box so to say.

  • @ethanreipold88 hahah you can not get a mint condition mosin nagant for 100 and like i said it's been proven by american rifleman magazine and others like i said it takes only took 3 shots for the russians to zero in theres and 5 shots for the germans to zero in there scopes how is that more accurate how is it snipers than used the mosin nagant get over 600 kills with it how is that they hit targets at 800+ with one shot and kill them how is it that the worlds greatest snipers used it?

  • and like you said it's a better rifle your OPINION there is a diffrence between opinion and fact if the mosin nagant is in very good condition then its more accurate its the majority of the kar98ks that are more accurate because they were not sped to assemble them if every single gunsmith took there time to assemble each mosin nagant it would be ten times better but they were sped assemble over all the mosin nagant is more accurate if its in good condition

  • @ethanreipold88 im not saying it's a shit rifle its OUTSTANDING im just saying a good quiality mosin is more accurate

  • If the germans wanted to improve the Mauser, they should have given it a 10 shot removable magazine, like the British Enfield,

  • @federalwarhawk i honestly am comfortable with the 5 round magazine

  • @federalwarhawk what for? its a bolt action, and it would double the time to reload it.

  • actually fired one of these rifles before, all original almost 80 years old. managed to hit the 2nd ring out from the centre on a target 100m away and I can't shoot for SHITE

  • @AlexDeLarge90

Your ignorance of WWII is amazing -- Hitler was influencing the war from the get-go. He was constantly involved in decisions and constantly had headquarters near the front. Hitler also gave Rommel orders in Africa, he even told Rommel to fight to the last man (which Rommel wisely disobeyed). My God, why don't you read a real history book and stop getting your information from comic books.

  • if they are dropping them in why not drop a bomb on hitlers house

  • I taught this was about K98k but its about Hitler... thats when you let stupid indians to make movies

  • saw one of these beauties at big5 the other day :D

  • very nice weapon. i've seen them at our local gun show, but never shot one. could never afford one either. i think around a 500-800 dollar rifle

  • Well my Moisin i favor over the 98k

  • I clicked this video because I thought the guy at 0:47 looks like a chubby version of Ron Swanson. Not trying to offend, as I think Ron Swanson is awesome, but how weird is that! It's Ron f*cking Swanson!

  • Anhbody know the reel that filming is from @ 1.13?

  • Richard Venola always has something quotable to say about every rifle in this list.

  • What he fires during the introduction is an G98, not an K98k...

  • Place 6 ?!! ARE THEY CRAZY that is place 2 !!!!

  • Probably the best version was Mauser vz.24.

  • As far as combat rifles, everyone started copying the Garand during or after the WW2. I can not find an example of anyone reissuing Mauser type rifles in quantity post WW2.

Soon, every rifle was semi/full auto. Even the sniper ones.

Until .50 cal sniper rifles entered the scene, there were practically no Mauser type actions used despite its proven reliability and strength. This is a general statement because one of you will find an exception to it I'm sure!

  • @hetmanbasza the mauser was developed at the end of the 19th century. since this rifle came out, almost any bolt action that followed was a copy of the mauser98k. the only exception i can think of is the leeenfield.

the 98k is also the blueprint for the us army´s springfield. the M1garand came later.....furthermore I would say the M1 was allready outdated after the war. they soon switched to fully automatic....

  • @satanic666sonic

How many hundreds of hours do you want to spend arguing this point. I agree with Patton on his statement: "M1 Garand is the greatest war implement ever designed!" He did not say that about Springfield or a Mauser for obvious reasons despite millions of them being around and their sevice record (Excelnt).

Everyone who had a large military force had his own knockoff of a Garand. Either coppied or outright bought from US.

  • @hetmanbasza 1st of all, that was my 1st comment. so there´s no need to get bitchy.

2nd: I was just stating that the K98 is the blueprint for allmost every rifle PRE-ww2. and yes, during ww2 it got outdated. but on the other hand I´d say the german stg44 concept was even more used than the M1 garand´s from 45 till today.

  • @satanic666sonic

Sorry, I am a Major Irritant to most! (I have a lovable fuzball side also but it is hard to see).

You are correct in your #2 point. Germans did come up with a winner design (not that it did help them then, but...)

Kalashnikov had his moment of genius but solid design vs. tinkering happened in Germany before 1944.

  • @hetmanbasza then again, the M1 garand was one of the first rifles which originated the gas operation system. all them carbines the us-military used since then are gas operated.

  • @satanic666sonic The Only rifle I could think of that the M1 has influenced is possibly the AVS-36/SVT-40. They were designed around the same time so this probably is false. Another is the SKS which probably came from the SVT-40. The only reason why the bolt action rifle has been phased out is not because of the M1 but it's more because of the STG-44 and the AK47. The amount of people designing assault rifles after that was astronomical.

  • we own a mauser actually used in ww2 i use it for huntinng very accurate rifle !!!!!!!

  • Eww gross! These talking heads love the Mauser a little too much, especially the fat man with the mo. Hearing him say "fluttery heart strings" and "totally fabulous weapon" was frightening.

  • @MikeAppleTree anyones opinion on anything gun related starting with "Eww gross" should probably not only NOT own a gun but have any viable or intelligent response

  • @JakeDubz262 Eww gross! Anyone with any intelligence should probably not have any viable response to anything you related! Seriously though, the Mauser is a great rifle but watching that man saying it's "totally fabulous" and "be still my fluttery heart strings" is pretty weird, its like he's a wedding planner talking about a three tiered bespoke wedding cake.

  • mausers all the way

  • mosin nagants suck mausers r the way to go

  • cool video of guns

  • the lack of semi auto is a deal breaker.Man,you just can't undervalue the ability of a GI in combat to be able to keep his eye on a target and zero in.

  • they should do a Top Ten Bolt Action rifle count down

  • @Jacarter99 Mosin Nagant would assuredly be there

  • Kar98's are for pros.....

    M1 garands are for noobs....

  • @Howie262 No it depends on the shooter

  • German crap,Nothing compared to the M1

  • @Foley03A4 If your talking about the M1 Garand, they are completely different, One is a bolt action Rifle that holds five rounds and th other is a Semi Automatic battle rifle that fires 8 rounds. You can't compare two classes of Weapons, Yes the M1 is a wonderful rifle. Compare the Mauser to the 1903 Springfield although they are the exact same rifle basically. Also Compare the M1 to the gewehr then the M1 is superior. Also Germans made the highest quality weapons.

  • @501joshb The Gewehr $1 and the 43 where actually very good rifles but most peole don't think so because it was used more againts the russians and the russian winter was bad on nearly every firearm used both russian and german. But in europe it preformed very well but it wasn't used very often because it was expensive to make. And the Germans did make the highest quality :)

  • @501joshb Interesting though...they can build 'em, but they couldn't use them to win the war, (along with several other factors, including a ruthless dictator who had no clue on how to win a war.) Nonetheless, they do make fabulous weapons.

  • @501joshb now it seems to be japan :/

  • @MrDip02 Japan isnt allowed to make any weaponry for offensive use, until the year 2012 I believe. So their rifles havnt been truly tested against other rifles.

  • @501joshb i just say that because browning and wetherby are japanese rifles

  • @Foley03A4 "German crap" that always killed someone with one shot instead of the M1 half automatic crap rifle. Germans had really good weapons and vehicles.

  • @AirborneRangerZz And you dare have such a username, get out of my country son! k98 sucks - m1 you got 8 round that will hit their mark at 800 yards without a miss!

  • @AirborneRangerZz I suggest you research each cartridge and realize that they have very similar characteristics. Both will kill a human being with one well placed shot. Then again, so will a .22.

  • ..its shit hot.

  • @toskoforce Your stupid

  • someone destroy ArYEH NUSBACHER IM SO SICK OF THAT IDIOT HE IS A REAL TURD

  • My favorite from WW2 and my third favorite rifle of all time

  • Hitler loved it, but it could have killed him

  • Good but I'll stick with my Enfield.

  • @DrShakalu619 Back in WWII and in combat I would agree with you, but personally I like the Mauser. Enfields are excellent rifles though, wish I had one of those to!

  • @71SuperSportChevelle same i got a rifle that looks like a mauser x enfield

  • @toskoforce Just because its bolt action, doesnt mean its crap, you watch to much rambo or some shit by thinking everything has to be automatic or watever. And Btw, I must be a dumbass but is this gun the reason almost 80% of hunting rifles are based on this gun. Get a FUCKING CLUE!

  • @toskoforce Your comment is not even worth being answered! You want to have real war? Go to Afghanistan, then were finally rid of you.

  • @toskoforce So your video game playing makes you a weapons expert. It's sad that you think that way.Rock band and guitar queero made assholes classic rock experts, and now call of duty makes assholes weapons experts.

  • @FATMIKED5183 Well said man. There are too many idiots commenting on this page about the rifles who have no military experience or even looked at a histroy book.

  • the combat effectivness rating and handling calls were awful. the people on the show most likely didnt take German Infantry tactics into consideration, which had the MG be the center of the squad's killing capacity, then using the mauser to protect the MG when moving up or being flanked. it was also an unparalled marksmen's rifle, something that a soldier fighting from Poland to Berlin would certainly appreciate. six years of straight combat would certainly train you in how to use a Mauser.

  • This video talks about the Kar98k but Mr. Venola at the beginning of the video shoots a Swedish Mauser.

  • If you want taste somethign more that a shit CoD's K98, go and buy the new Red Orchestra 2 that will come soon. =)

Sniping with Kar is sweet :P

  • good weapon, but inferior to the 03A3

  • So much German WW2 weapons in the Top ten :D

  • @Warlord13413 Not enough and not on the right places.

  • more epic than k98>stg44>ak47 <3

  • a bullet proof car that dosent have a roof and

  • hahaha german weapons used to help a jewish nation? oh the irony, bet hitler's turning in his grave......oh wait.......

  • Hey, what is the rate of fire for Mauser 98???

  • @iiisoposol2020 as fast as you can cycle the action. Probably 15-20 rounds a minute.

  • Thank God there aren't any Call of Duty toolbags here. Long live Mauser and it's carbine.

  • @homsar678 everyone's so quick to jump on CoD players. Rest assured, myself included, I know plenty of people who play the series and don't even begin to think the game's accurate at all. Try thinking before you type next time

  • @MatthiasVex

Please don't advise me to "think before I type" as if you are a wise voice on the internet. You probably haven't experienced them in person, let alone online. I realize that their are people who enjoy COD who know it's inaccurate.....do you think I am that broad-headed ?

  • @MatthiasVex It's not just Call of Duty, it's most shooters in general. As far as the WWII CoD games go, they're actually relatively authentic as far as local storyline goes - the thing in question is the weapon handling and characteristics. Many people that play games and watch experienced people shoot high calibre rifles don't realize how intimidating a real weapon really is.

  • @Senjhin

    So true

people that just play video games think they could easily handle a rifle

Ive shot one of these and the kick and noise is really tough to go through a round with

  • @NathanPickering The kick and noise are relatively tolerable, though I hesitate to think of what contemporary soldiers without earplugs had to deal with. The real scare, in my opinion, is sitting at the shooting bench plugging at targets, and imagining that other people are over there plugging at you too. Knowing the destructive power of a weapon and understanding how intimidating it is reinforces the desire to not be shot or be in the line of danger from one.

  • @Senjhin well said sir.

  • @Senjhin

yea, and the big difference is that in a real battel, you dont have HP bar, and dont respawn...

fear is what protects you from madness that happends in games

  • @Senjhin i played call of duty i think it was the fifth one and they got the fire rate wrong on the ppsh-41 and the mp-40

  • my buddy just bought one off a vet who picked up off a dead german...still has the markings and everything, but more importantly still shoots like the day it was made

  • Absolutely love my m24/47 mauser. It's basically the same, and I must say, is built like a tank. I would trust my life to the mauser.

  • Narrating program about weapon used to kill millions of people in style of a cool radio disc jockey or TV shop half-goofy presenter is somewhat inappropriate and very disturbing.

Whole concept of making a "top ten" list of rifles has is tasteless redneck attempt to present pseudo-history of firearms in a fun way.

It was a good rifle because it allow to kill more effectively - telling about this fact in a way of getting a kick out of it is sick.

    Signed: military history fan.

  • @szndm That's what the show is about tho its not that inappropriate but I defiantly see your angle. No one would want to watch some sad dark depressing program about the top military rifles. They have to format the show like this so people will watch it.

  • @ZombiePowerDrink

I know that they have to make it interesting, and I'm not suggesting that it should be dark and sad, but they went too far with this goofy form. If you are interested in firearms - you'll appreciate more technical facts and more serious historical background. But if they were aiming in "noob" audience - my question is: what the point? To interest people in this subject? I can't see any good reason to hook up more people on guns. We are living in enough violent world.

  • @szndm The guns dont cause the violence the people do. I'm glad that they made me feel better about the brand new semi auto AK-47 I just bought. Its funny becuse as Im writing this comment the gun is in my lap LOL I agree that comparing bolt action rifles didn't make that much seance and the color bars could be changed to but. Don't take little stuff to seriously or you'll never have fun in life. I was serious about the AK its a Semi auto SAGIA I just instaled pistol grips and a new stock.AKFTW

  • @szndm

dude, its the military channel. unfortunately we wont get a lot of depth here.

  • @wynstonsmyth

Well, I would expect from Military Channel some dose of profesionalism. If not in form then in content.

But I guess my nagging wont change anything. All I can do is search for knowledge elsewere.

    Thanks for discussion. Cheers.

  • Sorry, but I'll nag some more about the content of "the show".

If you want to compare - choose COMPARABLE weapons. Putting bolt action r. and assault r. in the same bag is pointless. Its not enough that they both are called "rifles"

If you want to present pros and cons of weapon: research a little and give true facts. This whole chart of color-bars is pulled out of an ass.

The main flaw of 98 is its precise parts which results in very low tolerance of dirt, which results in often jammed gun.

  • Quick question.

    What does is fire?

  • @DickHouseInc

    7,92 × 57 mm, 8×57IS

  • That's a big round.

  • better than the 1903 springfiel, mosin nagant and the m48 it is the best bolt action rifle ever

  • I like the Kar98.... *moans*

  • Now I need one of these and a Vault 101 suit...

  • Does anyone know how much these run for on average ?

  • @xTTHxReject I bought mine a couple of years back for $600. There is a Yugo version of this rifle that's much cheaper. Like it's German counterpart, it's reliable and accurate. Buy the German for it's history, get the Yugo if you're going out to the range for cheap, fun shooting!

  • this rifle should be much higher then number 6.

  • @McCarthy331 Capability-wise, I disagree. Unless you think a bolt action trumps a semi-auto in combat. Influence-wise, however, I agree. Without the Mauser, we wouldn't have the kind of bolt action rifles we have nowadays.

  • @RaderizDorret what i ment was that for the battlefield of its era it may have had a larger impact then say the FAL for its time. The Mauser from a historical standpoint is very signifigent as well.

  • The only reason the M1 Garand didn't score higher is "Length of Service". The US updates their weapons more. Germany, Japan, Russia and Britain all went into WW2 with WW1 rifles.

  • @stuka52 Germans didnt need to upgrade their already extremely acurate and reliable rifle........

    because the had the mg-42.....

the fastest shooting, most reliable machine gun of all time. The best machine gun of all time, fact btw....

the Browning 50. is as good, but its a heavy mg. only on tanks, jeeps and aircraft....

people think the germans were inferior or somthing keeping the kar98 but in reality remeber they brought us the first assualt rifle and many other firsts..........

  • @stuka52 No argument from me on the MG42/34. But I, as an infantry man would rather have a semi automatic, extremely accurate rifle than a bolt action any day.

  • chuck norris can bump fire this........:))

  • i have one mauser because i collect items of ww2. I like it <3

  • german guns are meh they got good ones like mauser 98k and then they got shit ones like f2000 i love german guns tho like the scar h and the fal but look at the u.s they also made shitty weps the m16 is ok but it aint the best i personaly think the best gun ever made is the ak 47

  • @blakasassin1

    F2000- Made in Belgium

    Scar H-Made in Belgium

    FN FAL- Made in Belguim

    M16-Not Shitty

    AK47-Shitty

    Fuck-You

  • @onthejon55 L u know nothing about weapons

  • @blakasassin1

You arent even smart enough to look up where weapons are made on wiki. Im guessing you are in fact the one who knows nothing about weapons

  • @onthejon55 what the fuck are u talking about? i know where all those guns where made wtf look at my original comment

  • @blakasassin1 You said the F2000 and SCAR weapons are german...

  • @kllr101 uhm yes i did google it they where made in belguim which last i heard was west germany.... scar was made in germany *belguim* annd u.s

  • @blakasassin1 The Mk16/Mk17 (FN SCAR) were made in Belgium and the US. Not germany. Belgium isnt a part of germany either.....

  • @kllr101 its a part of germany in my awsum book

  • @blakasassin1 Nice save.....

  • @blakasassin1 STOP GETTING YOUR GUN KNOWLEDGE FROM CALL OF DOODIE gah you people make me sick.

  • that thing is pure sex.

  • germany is for fags

  • @x92k121

    says the fag.

i already visited usa, and it was a nice trip. i think you never visited germany or an other european country. so stop writing comments like this, kid !

  • Hard to believe that most german infantrymen during WWII were issued just a bolt action rifle, especially when your enemy had better rifles.

  • @monkeyman1140 the irony is, that the Germans invented better arms than its enemies at the end of ww2 like for example the Stg.44. but they couldnt produce enough of them cause of the destroyed industry

  • @Neo22100 it's true... the Germans had the best tech of the era (minus the atomic bomb, which they were attempting to create but failed at, and lots of scientists were abducted by the Allies) and their main problems were: 2-front war, not enough oil, and a relatively weak industry compared to the U.S. If they were producing weapons and training soldiers at US-scale levels, we'd be speaking German :/

  • What they couldn't even get a german mauser in full trim for the shoot test? thats not even a k98 configured gun.

  • i love how hitler was almost assinated by his favorite rifle...then it was given away to jews.lol

  • they dropped the plans because they wanted to invade german to get all the technology. Thats all about it.

  • @god448

If Hitler were killed its very possible that a military (Wehrmacht) junta would have seized control of Germany. Using Hitler as a martyr and using their superior (to Hitler) military strategy they could have prolonged the war for many more years.

  • Lol... You get hit by a fucking Mauser... YOU DON'T SURVIVE!

  • i got one of em

  • @BaconTV123 airsoft guns dont count kiddie ^.^

  • @mrkanker1 its not it was made in 1914

  • @BaconTV123 i doubt that it would still work...

  • @BaconTV123 oh btw they were invented in 1935 fagget...

  • @mrkanker1 and yes it does work plus its basicly the same thing
