Today is the 78th anniversary of my birth. I still slowly melt back in time as I hear this song. In the 70's I found a love that faded away because as a married man I could not fulfill the dreams that she wanted. Even today, I close my eyes and for a short while relive those wonderful yet fleeting moments we shared "of holding hands and red bouquets, twilight trimmed in purple haze and quiet nights and gentle days" with her.

I was born 5 years after Elvis died, and my mom introduced me to his music. If she never did anything else for me I would thank her for that. This song and "Suspicious Minds" is Elvis at his absolute best.
