@kickersolox what subs did you replace em with? cant beat the 1206t for the money i bumped mine for a solid 2 years and never had a problem with em before i got rid of the car and subs. one problem i had was my intake series amps kept overheating. audiobahn intake amps suck. btw how many watts u running 2 each?
aahhh bueniiiiisimo làstima que cuando llueva y vayas escuchando esa mùsica con esos bajos fuertes se te va a meter toda el agua entre el vidrio del techo y el techo del auto que vibra, llevà paraguas por las dudas boludo!!!!
The box was 2.6ft^3 with a 50in^2 port tuned to 40hertz.
Yes they do, if you look in the manual, they actually use the cone to cool the voice coil. After long periods of bassing they'd get too hot to touch. One of my emblems fell off after a roadtrip. The subs got super hot and the glue released. Haha. But I've never heard of the subs failing from the heat. I liked them and I wish I still had them to play with.
they seeln this amp at walmart now wtf is it any good?> looks good but its at walmart lol..?? let me know thinkn bout gtn it cause they got return like crutchfield of it sucks. tired of buyn bs amps rated at 18 volts.
yea i have 2 of these in a slot ported box. did you ever hear yours in a ported box? i was wondering what sounds better ported or sealed? the ported box is built to the specs of the subs but idk whats better?
I only run ported enclosures. Sealed enclosures are a waste of bass. Theres some out there that will argue, but I've never ever heard a sealed enclosure outperform or sound better than ported. Thats my 2 cents.
Yeah, but a sealed can't touch a ported box of the same size. And if you really want SQ, just do a little research and build a T-Line enclosure if you have enough space. I should be building one here shortly for an alpine Type R. You can achieve incredible response AND output, something you have to give up with sealed. Unless you have multiple large drivers. But no one builds a large driver SQ setup, because its impractical. Sorry, no sealed for me unless using fiberglass and a small spaces.
Why do so many people hate on audiobahn, I never understood that.. It sounds really good to me and I have heard a few in person and liked what I heard. Did you like these when you had them?
I absolutely loved these subs and I kinda wished I hadn't sold them. I'm not sure why people hate them. Their loss if you ask me. The most dependable bang-for-your-buck subs I've ever used. They sounded wonderful. Sounded better than most everyone elses setup(including JLs) because I knew what I was doing. You can't just buy an SQ sub and expect it to sound good, might as well buy a cheaper sub with more output that sounds just the same.
I pride myself on spending the least amount of money on the most amount of shit. I refuse to disclose how much I've spent on my system (and it ain't much). I look for deals, and deals only, so I'm always looking. If I can't use it, I'll sell it. Be careful shopping for just the highest quality stuff. Its very easy to overpay (like all JL products).
oh yeah man. ill tell you right now..i wire myself and do builds myself. I am a new comer of around a year but I learned the calculations and such. I hear you on that, right now my system cost me around $300-400 for new rears, 2 12 pioneers and an 800 rms amp lol. I love how i outbump my friends who spend nearly 1000 at circuit city and such haha. Im gonna subscribe, your saying the same things im thinking and I hear you exactly. Awesome setups btw.
i feel you man. i have 2 AW1051X's and they are like 10 years old and they SLAM! i got 2 RF P2's 10 inches that i paid 180 bucks for and they hit almost as hard as my friend who bought 2 Kenwood 12's for and outragous price. not to mention the 1800 watt amp that i think is wayy overratted. im powering my RF's with a Xplod 1000w, but im about to buy a Profile 500 mono for 160 bucks and it is alottt better than my Xplod.
What model Xplod amp is it? I know the one i'm thinking of thats a 2 channel 1000 watt max, is 400 rms @ 4 ohms when bridged. It is rated at that and has a 40 amp fuse, so the specs are actually accurate unlike most cheaper amplifiers. Don't let its bad rep fool you, Sony amps are also CEA-2006 compliant. If you have 4 ohm woofers stick with the Sony if they are 2 ohm woofers go with the profile. Sorry for rambling lol.
it is a Xplod- XM1625z. 165Wx2 at 4ohms and max 500Wx2 at 2 ohms. this one has 2 30 amp fuses. it was a walmart amp, just temporary. only one setting on it. i have the Profile in my car now pushing the RF's that are 2ohms, and it pushes them hardd. i will post vids up soon. i had to get the new amp cause my Xplod was overheating. couldnt take the power.
ohh ok my bad! It's a different story with dual 2 ohm woofers.. no bridging so a 2 channel amp won't really do it for ya. Lookin forward to seeing the vids, my uploader hasn't been working, I got some of my cars pioneer setup and my old school hollywood excursion in my room lol. I'll subscribe though.
kk. ill let you know. as soon as i get the time to video it, ill put it up. need to see why my subs are making a paper rattling noise though. any thoughts why?
I've broken my spoiler mounts several times and of course shit starts to rattle that didn't rattle before. My solo X can de-rail my sunroof with a 30hertz tone. Pretty crazy.
Sorry. Good luck finding one. I searched for over a year for another so I could strap them and never did. If I did find one they wanted some outrageous price (like over $300) and it was no $300 amp. I got mine for $50 and regret selling it. Treated me real good. I pushed that amp so hard and it didn't even think about protect. My Memphis Mojo goes into protect when I cough, its so sensitive.
I sold these subs a long time ago. If you have a good 1ohm amp then it should take .75ohms just fine. It would take about three hours at nearly 3/4 gain and bass boost for the amp to get warm. The old autoteks laugh at low impedences.
The amp itself has a 60amp Maxi fuse but I have a 150amp circuit breaker under the hood. And the highest I've ever seen it read on the cap amperage display was 109amps. By the way it still took several hours of abuse at .75ohms before it even got warm. I love this amp.
one of my friends has one on a hifonics brutus and it is so loud. that thing cant have a 60 amp fuse that would only put out 600 rms at most if its a class d
It sure as hell does. I had a friend of my dad's (electrical engineer at john deere) throw it on an oscilloscope. It puts out just over 1400 watts rms before clipping at 42 hertz. These amps are real efficient and that fuse may not regulate just the power supply since the amp itself pulls more than the fuse. This amp still requires an external fuse source rated higher than it own fuse. I just can't remember what it was exactly.
how did you get the output wattage from and oscilloscope.. wat ive heard to use is a clamp on amp meter. you just put a hook part of the meter around the wire and it can find the current.
not tryin to say its a bad amp though cuz from the one i heard i think they are great..where did you get your amp
An oscilliscope is a much more accurate and more detailed way to monitor your input voltage, your output voltage at certain frequencies, and can easily see clipping by peaks during sweeps. Thats as simple a I can put it. I got my amp from a friend who thought it was junk. There was scratches on it so he sold it to me for $50. I just flipped it and put plexi-glass on it.
can u send a wiring diagram for it b.c my audiobahn will get a lil vibrastion but it dont move what so ever. so does that mean its blown or what? and its hard as a rock u cant even move it by hand or with an amp.
That doesn't sound too good. If it vibrates with power then the coil isn't blown, but if the sub got hot enough the voicecoil glue may have melted and then rehardened to the pole piece, seizing up the sub woofer. Sorry, but your sub is probably toast.
My trunk is now lined with Dynamat Xtreme. Gained atleast 5db, but spoiler continues to get looser and looser. My next move will be epoxy. Maybe that will stop the rattling.
Wrong. If wired correctly with an amp with phase it wouldn't seem any different. The tuning of the box might change slightly from the gain in airspace, but thats it. It would not hit harder.
I did at first, much louder this way and sounded better. Doesn't matter anymore. I no longer own this system. And facing a certain direction isn't better for all subs. If you can play around with your sub box, then do. You'll be surprised.
Absolutely nothing. I believe they changed the coil size and gap a little but otherwise nothing. Same exact sub, the AW1206Q are a little older, thats all.
Mine took about 1400 watts together and that was about all they could handle before funny noises were made. I'd recommdend a 1 ohm stable mono block. Wire the subs all parrelel which should take you to around .75 ohms. I've had a lot of success with memphis amps, autotek, hifonics, us amps, rockfords power line, crossfire, american bass, niche. Any of those companies make great products. Just do a little research is all. I buy all my stuff usually on Ebay. OR from unknowing Garage sellers.
The factory specs say dual 4 ohm but these subs aren't top dollar. When tested with the multimeter, the coils read 3.1 ohm. These kind of things happen with cheaper subs. Audiobahn doesn't make certified rating subs. Most of their subs are overrated in power and inexact in their specs.
Thats funny cause every speaker will say that. You cannot measure the impedance with a multimeter. The fact is... when you put current through it, the resistance will go up. For example - light bulbs usually blow when they are first turned, not after it is on for a while, because the resistance is lower. After power is going through it the resistance is increased. So I do believe those are dual 4 ohm.
So ur telling me every cheap subwoofer out there has correct coils but when I test say my JL or my Solo X or any other expensive sub and the coils read perfect with the multimeter their impedence rises with power. Thats a little hard to believe. I know exactly what your talking about, but a current flow usually only changes an impedence at most .2 Ohms. Any more than that, and its an electrical phenomenon. In which case the raised impedence would waste some of my amplifiers' power.
My JL's do not come to a perfect 4ohm when I measure them with my multimeter. They come out to like 3.7 or 3.8 not 4ohm. Maybe you have some sorta super magical meter... I believe they are built this way so you get the listed resistance after running them after a few seconds. I maybe wrong.
A multimeter will put current through your coils in order to read anything. A trick I've learned is to keep the multimeter on the coils for about 15 to 30 seconds. It will slowly climb to actual ohms. And notice your JL reads around .2 ohms below four. Makes sense. I guess I like to hope my multimeters weren't all a waste of money.
you have to understand speaker T?S parameters. There are 2 specs for impedance DCR actual impedance with an ohm meter, and moninal impedance that does not take into account the inductance from the voice coil windings. Rarely will any sub have a DCR that is exactly the same as its rated nominal impedance.
Na I was just kiddin. I sold this setup a long long time ago. My friend bought the subs and the power acoustik amp for $350. He's still got em i think.
you know i was thinking about buying those subs but was having second thoughts but after seeing you video i gotta pick em up nah
