Actually, I think chris025657 is correct. The humanoid impression was meant to be seen through a haze or shadow effect inside the mask. If you notice on burn victims, their looks are nothing like what they used to look like, which is similar to this 'placeholder', that same loss of detail. Those details, which we as a society consider attractive, is why it looks wrong. My sympathies are with burn victims in what they have to struggle with, this was just a clinical explanation.

I knew she had 'chinese like' eyes. If you look cl;osely at her mask (namely in ME2) You can see her eyes glow dark purple when she talks, and you can see the silhouette of her eyes.

Keep in mind the refraction effect from the thick curved visor, so the nose isn't actually that big and the eyes aren't as offset as it appears here. Meanwhile, given the transparency of the visor when it's not on her face, in order for the fact to be concealed so completely the skin color would probably need to be pretty close to that of the visor. So: purple skin, humanoid facial structure, glowing eyes, mouth/chin structure not yet revealed.

I never claimed this was Tali's face. This was just an interesting glitch from ME 1 that seems to suggest that the Quarians have human-like faces. It's also consistent with the concept art of Quarian faces. At least you know it's probably not Wrex under there.
