  • man i miss those moments of glory of celtics

  • THE most amazing moment in nba history

  • Kobe won without a great center during an era when there were no great centers except Shaq who was past his prime.

  • the 33 who disliked this are the whole detrot pistons organization

  • Larry bird- the reason why Jordan can't get a ring for 7 years.

  • great comments.. I have to agree that Rodman and Mahorn should of inbounded the ball instead of celebrating. You want Isiah to shoot free throws not Rodman or Mahorn. Bird made a super-human effort. He did not think a slow o,, ld hurting Bird could cover that distance. Blame the coach. There is a play for that situation.

  • bird is such a legend its not even funny man seriously....

when you think of legends, freakin GIANTS of the game, you think of moments, you think of mvps, chips, all that...

tell me ONE kobe moment, just one, serously..... i guess lebron has ONE, and that would be the game against detroit where the refs HANDED HIM THOSE POINTS BASICALLY b/c back in the day they'd sit his ass on the hardwood HARD, but handcheckin is done...

    neways, rant over lols.

  • @ry3304

Nah Kobe had his in 2007 against the Suns.

  • This still is even better than in McDonald's advertising.

  • When will amazing happen this year? Lol never, at least not like this. We have Dirk shooting 24 free throws and people treat him like the next Bird. Lol people are so stupid, they forget history so fast.

  • @CaptainRED99

Dirk is the closest thing to Bird we will ever see.

  • bird stole the inbound pass

  • I think the big question is, why was Isiah taking the inbound when he should be the guy with the ball in his hands?

  • @KroMcLovinFaSho, ironically, it was to cut down on the likelihood of the inbound pass being picked off. He obviously had the best passing skills on the team.

  • such a cool commercial

  • Where? Not in Cleveland nor Miami.

  • I was around 15, I was in a beanbag in my parents living room. I am a huge Bird fan and a huge Celts fan. It looked bleak for the Celts when Bird stole the inbounds pass. I came out of my beanbag and hit the roof when it happened. Probably the most memorable moment for me in NBA history.

  • Truly a classic moment not just from the NBA but from basketball in general.

  • einstein of basketball

  • maybe the most amazing seconds in nba history.

  • Johnny Most ownnnnnnnns!!!!!!

  • I know people throw the word "epic" around alot now... but if I had to trully describe what I just saw in words, I'm sure that epic would be included in there somwhere.

  • Basketball Jesus .

  • Jeeze,NBA---.Show the Bird-Johnson hug at the end....just made the scene a little more profound,I think.......

  • One of the best 30 seconds of NBA commentating EVER

  • As a Laker fan ill be honest this is a powerful play but im really pissed of at D.J because he wasnt noticed for his amazing career

  • he remained so calm after he got the steal....

    the really legendary

  • omg at 0:13 larry bird's hand is cutoff after he makes the pass.. dont follow the ball just look at his hand

  • @natetheconqueror - No, it's just directly away from the camera. You are looking at his elbow with his forearm directly away from you. It becomes more apparent when the forearm moves forward again.

  • This vid is very well done, I wish there was more.

  • Larry Bird had the best Hand Eye Coordination in NBA History.

  • @FrsBigeasy which is fricking amazing since hes white and genetically black males have an advantage in that area

  • @DiosanXaquerry People say the dumbest things

  • @FrsBigeasy hey thats a facdt, and it makes it more remarkable to me... whether you like what i am saying does not make it dumb, It is both true and remarkable.... people do say the dumbest things... but in this case this person did not say anything stupid at all

  • @DiosanXaquerry

Your entitled to your opinion but when someone makes it about race when its about Basketball and a player's ability to play I call it an ignorant thing to say

  • @FrsBigeasy

    what about Pistol Pete?

  • @omta46

Even though Larry Bird was 6'9 and played both Small and Power Forward, he shot over 90% from the Foul Line, 40% from the 3 Point line and could handle and pass the ball like a Point Guard even though he Rebounded and Defended like a Power Forward. Its not just that he had the best Eye Hand Coordination but he had it when the Celtics needed it most like in the 87 Eastern Finals when he stole that inbound pass from Isiah Thomas and assisted Dennis Johnson on that game winning Layup..

  • 1987 was Magics year but that play stole the show

  • saw this live, my father was going nuts.

  • the commentator...

  • it almost feels like yesterday huddled around the cathode ray tube all before the internet was invented. go celtics!

  • Well, the internet existed back then, just that mostly computer nerds had it, not everyday people. I was shocked to hear Howard Stern in 1994 had a cable modem.

  • In fact I was reading an article of an old video game magazine talking about the up coming Sega Genesis, and an adapter that would give it the ability to connect to the internet. That's all back in the 80s. Sorry didn't mean to write so much about the internet.

  • ok, u got me..

  • ik, im talkin about the guy GUARDING isiah, he didnt rlly do much

  • and ur a celtic fan arent you? (dont worry, idc)

  • the guy who was guarding isiah thomas (celtics #12) is pathetic:

    1. he was a little on blocking thomas

    2. after bird stole the ball, he was still on thomas.

No offense to whoever that guy is

  • First of all There was like 3 secs left when bird stole it, and he couldnt get to the rim in time, and isiah played defense since it was a turnover so he had to spot up for a shot. He really couldnt do nothing so ur wrong sorry

  • 1. thomas passed it almost immediately.

    2. he was watching thomas like he was supposed to. he had no idea it was their possession.

  • Isiah was Pathetic, he blew the game, #12 won it.

  • How is it meaningless? If he hadn't have stole it, the Pistons would have advanced, and could have very well made it past the Lakers.

  • It's not meaningless, this guy is just being negative. As if falling short in the NBA FINALS makes the whole season a waste or something. This is just classic "glass is half empty" crap.

  • HHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAHHAHAH Thats A Joke Right? Please Tell Me It Is xD

  • ye thats a joke.brian is a towel waver

  • i pity you if you truly, honestly believe that.

  • other than being a fat white guy they have nothing in common

  • never gonna happen amazing moment like this.

  • This is what greatness is all about.

  • Isaiah must have been so pissed

  • It was an amazing moment. I can't fault Isaiah...if you watch the clip from a distance, you'll see that Bird covered a lot of distance to steal that pass...and had Rodman and Mahorn stayed down court instead of running away celebrating, he would have had others to pass too...Credit Bird and DJ... One of the best steals and follow thru's EVER.

  • @yourbudjerry I have to fault Isaiah...Rule number one when you are playing the 80's Celtics...Locate Larry Bird and make sure he doesn't make you look like a fuckin fool....CAN I GET AN AMEN??!!!??!!!?!?!?!?!?

  • @MrSlik25 nerh

  • @pedrothethird WTF is nerh?...and why the fuck would they name someone Pedro for the third time??? WTF is wrong with people?...That should have stopped after the first one!!!!

  • haaaaaaaaaaaaa

    i love that commetator

    he's funny as hell

  • The greatest basketball ever played by a human were Birds efforts in game 5 and game 7 of the 1987 ecf eastern confernce finals against detroit-scroll through my favorites if anyone wants to see some of it

  • actually this was late spring 1987 Mr Briscoe---your right about the 86 team though-the pistons would never have that team on the ropes-with Big Bill Walton and his talents and tenacity rotating off the bench-Mchale and parrish were able to get rest and were healthy for the post season, that team was 54 and 1 at home including post season play--so dominating that the lakers let the rockets have the west so they wouldnt have to face them in the finals- But boston didnt chicken out to them in 87

  • I still think this is the best playoff moment ever...

  • Simplemente, este video define lo que fue Larriy Bird en una cancha de BALONCESTO. Genial.

  • this just shows how great larry is and how stupid isiah still is

  • This is a great moment but the ad is one of the worse ones in the campaign; you don't get to see the crowd/player reactions after they pull it off.

  • Couldn't see it happen since Sport Channel single was scrambled. But I'll never forget hearing

    "stollen by Bird..to DJ YES!!!!!!!!"

  • back in a time where so many things were simpler then.

  • Kinda wish they'd show the Bird- DJ hug afterward ;just a great moment; RIP,DJ ;they BETTER put you in the Hall of Fame next time;one of the best defensive guards ever;and one of the great clutch playoff shooters.

  • RIP DJ indeed. Larry Bird called him the best teammate he ever had—and remember, he formed the greatest front-court ever, with Robert Parish and Kevin McHale.

  • I'll take that 86 team against ANYBODY!

  • Hell why hasnt anyone commented on Birds footwork. Look at him straddle the line. He barely stayed inside. By the way Bird is 6'9 and thats huge

  • The commentary on this one really makes it a great, legendary piece of footage..

  • i couldn't agree with you more on that. Johnny's words, like Havilicek's steal commentary, was perfect.

  • Jordan and Pippen were a great duo and they both needed each other during the bulls run.. However, Pippen was only good as a second option. One of the best second options to ever play the game, but his role was the second option. His stats and everything else proved it. There is nothing wrong with being a second option by the way..

  • no Jordon made pippen good and MJ basicly got Him into the Hall of fame, but on the other hand Pippen was good

  • the good days larry bird against magic

  • GO LAKERS!!! Also great steal!!

  • larry bird still the best on celtics and bill russal

  • I just love the boston celtic's 80's team...............from Portugal and with only 26 years old............Long live the celtics!!

  • wow

  • is it animated?

  • srry in advance, I dont really get this. If the Pistons were taking the ball out at the Celtics side, why did they pass it so close to the Celtics' basket?

  • That you would have to ask Isiah Thomas, I don't think he ever gave a good reason for it. What he should have done was call timeout and advance the ball up the court.

  • I love this advert, one of my favourites from the play-offs.

  • whats up with the commentater

  • The commentator is the legendary Johnny Most, who covered the Celtics for many years on radio (The game that day was on TBS, but Most's commentary is a lot better than the tv commentary). If you're referring to his voice, that would probably be the effects of heavy smoking.

Most and Chick Hearn are my two all-time favourite NBA commentators, with Mike Gorman and Tommy Heinsohn a close third.

  • all rite listen u dumb fuks u guys could never do that and also u guys think kobe and lebron are the best well they would get there ass kiked by the 80's lakers and the 80's celtics larry bird and magic johnson did things that only kobe and lebron could dream of doing all they can do is shoot and dunk big fucken woop

  • Ok i watched the video. They won the game through this. But the play is still nothing special.

  • Comment removed

  • It's nothing special because your too STUPID to understand basketball

  • guys shut up about kobe without a center. kobe won without a great center. yes bynums back hooray only to get his ass wooped by dwight. and pau isnt even a true center hes a forward. kobe won without a great center end of story

  • Well nothing really special.. the other vids are better.

  • Nothing special????????

Wow lol, being w/o knowlage is a bad thing. Learn the story of this game, then watch that video one more time!

  • /watch?v=H_RJ5XN8TK8

watch this to understand what this video means.

  • kobe couldn't win a canmpionship without Pau and Bynum, after 2004, after shaq had been traded to the heat, lakers didn't appeared in the Finals for 3 years, the lakers struggled this past 3 years in 2004 they didn't appeared in the playoffs, in 2005 and 2006 the suns defeated the lakers. so kobe couldn't make it to the palyoffs and finals without any help from Pau and Bynum.

  • what superstar guard can do anything without a big man i know knobody do you

  • no shit he couldnt win without pau or bynum, if they werent on the court it would be 4 on 5, duhh and also, kobe wasnt a big scorer with shaq, he took on defensive roles and set up plays with shaq, he only started becoming a more attacking player around the 2006 mark, and hes proven to be probably the best jump shooter in the league now so shhhhh

  • the famous bird steal. lol.

  • I hate this :(

  • whitch team is it?

  • It's the Boston Celtics vs. Detroit Pistons.

  • hes a legend

  • larry bird fucking owns

  • this play send chills down my spine

  • why, u a pistons fan?

  • no, its just AMAZING. haha

  • Great steal. Look at #12 after the layup!

  • RIP Dennis Johnson.

  • ckek my video called GBC Where Stupidity Happens

  • I love to see how these old school guys layup! :)

  • its really not that different

  • Take this Advice:

  • What a steal...

  • which year/match was this from?

  • description

  • Pistons vs Celtics in either 87 or 88 I Ibelieve.

  • personally, i agree with CanadianIndian88.....if anyone even touches lebron james its a foul...its bull crap!!

  • NOT TRUE... he's just so big and strong that when guys foul him it is hard to tell because his body doesnt move. He wont say but I would guess hes 280 which is insane for his talent and speed

  • Yea is that why, they called Howard on the foul...when he blocked him clean From behind...

James should be called for offensive fouls...he always RUNS into the defender...while the defender is still moving his feet.

  • Today NBA is just like WWF

  • brotha i whant the real thing

  • This shows that you don't have to score to be a star

  • good quote

  • What's the name of this song?

  • Fly by ludovico einaudi

  • ya well hes has an mvp a scoring title and alot of playoff success, and hes 24 years old, calm the fuck down and dont shit your pants over it though

  • all that is individual, and wat playoff sucess? losing a game 7 to boston and being swept in the finals? come on, these guys were all great because they knew how to play with a team, how to go by the name on the front of the jersey instead of the one on the back. lebron has to do something with his team,,,, win a championship.

  • Kobe won when he was 22...

  • with shaq

  • then shaq won without kobe... right?

yeah sure thats right but he won with d-wade

And this year its 3-1 finals lakers ...you have kobe but not shaq

So ure whole theory is dead

  • kobe this year has fisher.. who as you can see ifs very useful adn was also there with kobe when he won 3 rings with shaq. and then ariza. oh my god, the trades golden state would havta make to get that kind of guy. wihtout ariza's defense and energy, the lakers would be gone and it would have been magic-nuggets or magic-rockets. not to mention pau gasol; without pau, the whole playoff picture for the lakers would have been gone. and without bynum, howard would be unstoppable. no odom no 6th man

  • the only thing that would make my whole theory "dead" is if kobe loses this year, the lakers players today all sign with different teams, and kobe stil manages to get a 3peat with a shitty laker team

  • why did u just reply urself

you first said that fisher, ariza, gasol, bynum, odom are helping kobe alot and more than i can imagine, TRUE.

But then u said this like ''and kobe stil manages to get a 3peat with a shitty laker team ''

    What did u mean?

Anyway, even if kobe wins this year i doubt people will say kobe never won without fisher, bynum or any other. Shaq is a beast, no one from the lakers team can beat him except maybe kobe.

  • no no no isaid that IF had the lkaers lost this year and evryone opt out and shit, kobe still can get another 3-peat then he will be jordan-comparable.

and yeah technically kobe has only be this laker team's leader for a year, so technically, he still got 5 to go. ( and some more scoring titles, MVps all that good stuf)

  • yea kobe wouldnt have won if he didnt have good players around him. but dat goes for all nba teams.

n im tired of ppl comparing kobe 2 jordan . when kobe can win a 3peat all by himself with a crappy laker team then u can start comparing them

  • no u can't. coz jordan never won anything by himself either. he always got pippen and later rodman. plus the bench was always good and complementary. Jordan had good teams too.

  • u kidding me? jordan MADE his team good. pippen was shit after the '98 season which was when jordan retired

  • Jordan alone did not make the team as good as it was. remember when Jordan retired the first time, Pippen led the bulls to the postseason with only 2 less wins than the season before. That's one whole season without the greatest player of all time and you just suffer 2 wins less. The Bulls were a good team. Jordan was the best but you are giving him way too much credit and not enough to his supporting cast. NOBODY can win it all alone. not even MJ and he never did.

  • Amen

  • this is why i love larry bird. I love this commercials!

  • Plz tell me how to do it on sony vegas pro !

  • I love this commercial.

  • damn! this is the best nba commerical i have ever seen period. it's sick. nostalgic. all quiet, and you can hear the squeeky noise then the crowd going all nuts then it's all gone.

  • "and boston has a one point lead with one second left. Oh my this place is goin crazy"

my dad says he remembers that call

  • it was a lot harder then. . .hand-checking was allowed

  • He wasnt saying being bigger and faster makes you a better player but if you really think players in the 80s were actually bigger or faster you need to watch a few games...Lebron is probably one of the most physically athletic players in NBA history

  • Yea definitely. hes braking records like crazy

  • Yea your that fucking 10 year old kid who loves James...Fuck off,

Why the fuck are you even comparing James to Chamberlain, Russell, Jordan, Dr.J, Bird, Thomas

James hasnt done shit in his carrer yet...

  • yeah what the fuck are these people saying, you cannot compare players from this time to players way back due to the physical enhancements and supplements they can take to improve their shit now

  • ok yes i agree at this point in time you can not compare lebron to the all time greats. but you can not say that he has not done shit in his career. he is a phenomenal player and is on track to break the all time scoring record. his team is also down 3-1 in the playoffs, he's dropping almost 40 points a game, he is carrying the rest of his team who are playing like shit. he can not do anymore than he is doing now

  • Please stop talking about Lebron...dunt even mention him with these great legends...

These days, you touch lebron, and the bloddy refs call a foul. The game is getting ridiculous.

  • Big talk... I doubt you even know much about these legends.. Sigh..

  • bigger and faster doesnt make you a great ball player. sorry hibbs.

  • bigger and faster doesnt make a good ball player. sorry hibbs.

  • Bird steals the ball Bird steals the ball epic play
