How can you defend driftnet fishing? No skill involved no target species, not sustainable. I am a 2nd generation fisherman these nets have got to get out of our oceans!
Here in NC USA, large mesh gill nets are being eliminated due to their bycatch. Its stated turtles are often caught in large mesh nets hence the the reason for its restrictions. Im just curious as to how many turtle nests are smashed by vehicles driving along beaches, how many turtles are deterred from spawing in areas such as the FL coast due to flocks of tourists, and how long its going to take for turtles to be completely extinct due to pollution along with all sea life.
My take is overfishing is overfishing regardless of the emotions, the ocean is a limited resource. So humans must simply stop having too many children with too many mouths to feed, it's insane since when do we have this inherent right o collapse the food systems of the planet for our own whims and desires without consideration for future of generations.
these fisherman are just trying to feed their families and make a living !!! Are u aware of the impacts u are making toward the ocean and its contaminates ? these organizations receive a lot of donations to market these pictures of , well nothing, so don't be fooled by thes businesses, make your own assumptions and do your own research !!
