@mcatoverde Well that is because it is not done yet you silly person. The game was split up into 4 parts. HL2 HL2 E1, HL2 E2, and hopefully HL2 E3.And you have the gravity gun that tosses people. Nova Prospekt, and the Citadel in the first two episodes were amazing. And what are you talking about no weapons? On the Jeep you get your car has a Tau cannon *From HL1* So don't fret.

Kelly Bailey is a genius in the league of Tommy Tallarico! We might as well put Jesper Kyd on that list too. And The KuKeiHa CLUB. The entire Half-Life series has some of the best music and sound effects ever! Kelly Bailey also does the sound design, so he's kind of like Ben Burtt in that respect.

Every time I play HL1, I get chills when I walk down those corridors before the resonance cascade. It's like time travel (the Borealis might house a time machine).

The Half life series has a great atmosphere. Other than that, as far as a plot and story go...it seems Valve is just making it up as they go along, and its getting no where. Why do you guys think they made L4D 2? They dont know how to continue the Half life franchise and they are stuck.

chase_active 1 puts the camera behind you

Thirdperson puts it to the side

type either of these cheats in the console to activate it.

Chase_active 0 switches back to firstperson

if 'thirdperson' is enabled, then type in firstperson and it will reset to firstperson again. hope this helps

The first HL didn't really have a "soundtrack" per say. It was only in the second one that they implemented any kind of formal soundtrack. Personally I thought the lack of soundtrack made the game much more mysterious and immersive.

Not saying the soundtrack in HL2 is bad, on the contrary, it sets the mood for a new and different Half-life experience that is as fitting to it as HL1's lack of music.

Oh look, I found this IGN review of Half-Life, written in November 1998. It's right here on the internet so you can verify. I see they gave the Sound a score of 9.0 and said the game has "decent music"!

Put any of your original HL-Discs into any CD-Player. You'll notice that all tracks except Track 1 are AUDIO tracks which include THE FUCKING SOUNDTRACK. The exact same one you can hear in this video. Even the first HL versions included it. So you either: a) played a pirated copy without the audio tracks or b) have always been too dumb to connect your CD drive to the disc audio input on your mainboard/soundcard. Stop insulting others. You're like the greatest moron around here.

Iirc, HL used CD audio tracks for the music, which was simply triggered by the game when it was needed. A lot of CD players on computers didn't have the cd audio out enabled, so for instance on my friends computer you'd get the music, but on mine you wouldn't. The later releases of HL and of course HL2 used mp3's instead, so it works for everyone.

Holy moly, it's HL1. This is the game that stole my Nintendo loving heart and showed me just how badass a video game can be. Unfortunately, it set my PC game standards REALLY high. There isn't much I'll touch on the platform that isn't HL1 or HL2.

Fantastic gameplay, fantastic graphics, totally fantastic music. The Half-Life series continues to amaze for the sense of IMMERSION it gives the player.

I understand you! HL1 and HL2 and their expansions/sequels are simply exceptional. They are so perfect that I too find many other games to be nothing compared to the HL series. For example, Crysis has great graphics... but that's all about it. The Half-Life series is a masterpiece...

There are however many other games which come close to HL's awesomeness: Unreal, The Chronicles of Riddick, F.E.A.R., Return to Castle Wolfenstein, the Doom and Quake series, Painkiller, etc. But HL is the best!

I am the only one among my circle of friends to have enjoyed Half Life 1 more than Half Life 2. HL2 was a great game, but HL1 is one of my alltime favorites. I don't know, maybe it was just that by the time HL2 had rolled around everything new about HL1 was no longer new. Headcrabs weren't as shocking and scary the second time around.

But Ravenholm did make me shit my pants, I'll admit.

Same here! I first saw HL1 in 2002 (that's when I got into PC gaming). From the first look of it I realized it was an EXCEPTIONAL, genre-defining game. I first finished HL2 - in 2005. I thought: "OK, HL2 is a great sequel to the great HL1. But something's missing. I MUST play through HL1 to witness the game that started it all." And even though HL1 is 6 years older than HL2, I enjoyed it a bit more, even though it was 7 years old when I first played through it. HL2 is exceptional too, though! :)

The extended Valve theme is my favourite track, Good thing you can sling (not litterally) the H-L Disk into a CD player and hear the music.

You also see that gordon in the transit at the beguinning of Blue-shift. Nostalgia was to be had.
