Back in the 80's we had no MTV or Much Music to get visual stimuli if we weren't creative to imagine it... so we had SOLID GOLD. The Solid Gold dancers, Nicole, Darcelle, Pam, Eileen, Beverley, Jahmillah, Coolie and Mark with their big hair, bad shiny outfits and exotic dance moves gave us a weekly interpretation of our top 10 music. Dionne Warwick was the glue that held it all together...it was a tackier time, a politically incorrect time, a simpler time.
Yes, if you read the description, it explains why. I made this befor I had a completely intact episode of SG for season 6 in my collection. So I cut and pasted the best that I could........
Dionne... Truly talented... Really, she don't quite have the looks but her voice is definitely FANTASTIC! and oh yeah... at last the end is not congested by that credit roll... Thanks charmed
I love your editing. If I can recall, Dionne performed the Solid Gold theme on the first episode of the 85/86 season, upon her return to the show. To me, it put the show back on track after the lackluster Rick Dees season.
Thanks for the compliment! I agree with your comment about Rick Dees, I think they should have stuck with a music celebrity rather than a "popular" radio talk show host (I refuse to call him a DJ!). Perhaps they would have faired better with someone like Sheena Easton?
Actually, the sound is off during the speaking intro and the close of the show. That is the way the video is (my system isn't sophisticated enough to change that - yet?). But her singing "Solid Gold" is live on stage and as far as I can tell sound and video match.....Thanks for compliment, too!
Thanks for the compliment! What you see posted are my very first attempts at this sort of thing! It is great fun (time consuming, but fun) and comments like yours keep me motivated! Thanks again!
Am I the only one that finds it amazing the Nicole didn't shatter every bone in her legs after that flip she did @0:31?

What if Dionne Warwick made her cousin Whitney Houston a dancer during the first season? (By this point she was busy.)

A HELL of an improvement over the Rick Dees fiasco from the year before - too bad Dionne didn't stay longer!
