  • I suppose this post is too old to ask what the amp seethings were at the time this was recorded? Even a rough guess would help. :)

    Thanks

  • awesome tone :O

  • Just love old battered vintage gear. Nice sound. Very SRV'ish

  • Are they 55hz g12h30s ?

  • Ahhhhh, TONE!!!! Sounds great brother. Those 50 watters are the bomb, aren't they?

  • nice playing! what is your volume set to? thanks.

  • thd hotplate is very good ;D

  • Nice playing and great tone!!!!!

  • how low can you get the volume with the powerbrake and still get a good overdrive

  • Greasy, rebel, dirty, true R&R sound !

  • My question is regarding the THD hot plate. Im totally new to tube amp, so my question is can i invest in a 50W krank or randall with 2 112 speakers cabs for jamming with my band and use the amp with the hot plate for bedroom practice without having to invest in a solid state which im not a big fan of. Will the THD bring the volume down to bedroom level without killing the tone. If not how about a 20W tube amp.

  • @TerrorBlade84 yeah i've got a 50w krank and i run it through a hot plate. I can get it as quiet as i like. the question is whether u want an 8 ohm or a 16 ohm. use a 16 ohm for one speaker or 8 ohm for two. I'm actually selling my 16 ohm so gimme a message back if you're interested.

  • Nice playin!!! Good Demo!!! :D :D I have my own Plexi 50 Watt Clone and it rocks :D :D

  • Hi Tom! Nice sound... Can you tell me what kind of tube are you using in the amp?

  • 6550 power tubes

  • funny you mention that the same thing happened when i used a hot plate. I'm just going to go with out i guess

  • @andy92811

the best way to not use these units

  • I kinda want a power brake. Is it safe and dummy free?

  • @andy92811

I don't recommend the marshall pb, it hurts the amp, I had tube replace two times when I used it:( Please try different attenuators....

  • @vintagetom

any attenuator will burn your tubes out early as ultimately you are pushing them very hard, remember all the attenuator does is lower the db vol. As far as the amp and the tubes think the amp might as well be on full vol.

  • @andy92811 thd hotplate ! it is fantastic

  • does your fan come on on your power brake all the time or only after a while at full volume on the amp and full volume on the power brake i don see mine commimng on, unless it ony comes on under superhigh load extended periods to cool it off.

  • Man, that is a sweet, sweeeet tone.... love it!

  • Sounds beautiful! I'm just sitting back enjoying my JCM800... love this video!

  • yes!

    great sound and great tune!

    you found sweetness

  • what song are you playing?

  • my song

  • Sweet, trashy and so toneful. I have a 74' non-master that doesn't touch this. Very nice, great playing as well. Great touch, doesn't sound like you're fighting it at all. Thanks for posting.

  • awesome

  • Glorious tone.

  • Sounds epiiiiiiiic! An amazing blend of Hendrix and Vaughan! More Vaughan.. but still, first time i've really heard both tones come through in the same recording!! :D

  • Which power brake is that?

  • szia tomi !!! a láda az enyém volt ,jó látni hogy jo helyre kerűlt!!!

  • rockin.

  • Sounds like Jimi Hendrix) Awesome.

  • yeah JImi but SRV too. Great sound!

  • Shit I slipped and thumbs downed you, I meant to thumbs up sorry. Its true so someone will soon thumbs you back up. Sorry haha

  • This is some pretty serious tone

  • whats better an attenuator or a power brake or are they the same thing?

  • the marshall power brake is an attenuator.

    power brake is the name.

I hear the power brake is the most transparent attenuator out there, as in it just purely cuts the volume so you can get these awesome tones at bedroom level. could anyone verify that? this video sounds pretty good, but i dont know what it sounds like cranked..

  • Yes, I can. I used to use one w/ a 1959 100w re-issue. It worked great. Very transparent. Sold it all, though. Have a different amp now, but looking for another Marshall.

  • i just use a volume pedal and run it through the effects loop and it cuts the volume down leaving all the satuation of a fully cranked amp. big price difference between volume pedals and attenuators and i honestly like what the volume pedal does. i have a bugera 1960 plexi with a randy rhoads mod and thats how i run it. but once you RR mod a plexi it is no longer a bedroom amp by no means even with an attenuator/ or looped volume pedal. its like putting a straight jacket on a Juggernaught.

  • speakers work better at certan louder volumes than lower volumes.and plexi amps are a touchy breed of amp to deal with.once you acheave the tone that melts your face then cap it off with an attenuator or looped volume control then you begin to lower the looped master volume or attenuator vol/ you quickly fine out that your speakers just simply arent putting out that unholy ball busting tone But you have to run a attenuator or master loop volume to play down to other modern amps they dont compete

  • which strat is that shown in the picture?

  • Comment removed

  • im am,defo!!!!

  • Whats on top of the head?

  • thats a marshall powerbreaker....it allows you to crank your power tubes while maintaining a low volumes. Very nice bit of kit but pretty expensive!

  • thanks dude

  • There are better power soak, like DrZ Airbrake or Weber Mass. This and the THD suck too much tone

  • marshall power brake

  • Faustine Phantom Attenuator

  • stupid question.. wat handwired model is this from marshall? 1959slp? or 1987x? jtm45? this is the break up of the clean channel? sick tone man

  • there is no clean channel

  • Great tone, great playing. Rock on!

  • omg how much i hate u, i have a couple good heads, im a huge marshall fan, but i still dream with a handwired amp lol!

  • Could you post some sound samples of this amp with Strat running through your Microvibe?

  • settings plz!!!!!

  • Jimi Hendrix is back people, back with a shout..!!!!!!

  • SRV is live!

  • I'm still waiting to here Hendrix's voice jump in. great job.

  • Awesome tone! What speakers?

  • Thanks! Greenbacks.

  • Already thougt so^^ The soft highs of the greenbacks. What is the volume on? Should be set pretty high for this amount of gain.

  • max

  • ok haha, cool

  • Wow! Never mind the killer tone, nice chops dude!!

  • the tone is fabulous and the playing too, great

  • can i just say this may be one of the best tones ive heard. i usually hate vintage sounds like this but it turned my head as soon as i heard that first note.

  • hey vintagetom. i love that tone, i have a marshall jmp 100 2203, but i cant quite get that tone, would buying an attenuator really improve the tone that much?

  • yes thats the whole secret to the marshall overdrive without blasting it on 10!!

  • I also have a jmp 2203. You can't get this tone even with an attenuator because the 2203 gets its distortion from the preamp valves. 4 holers like this get their distortion from the power valves. You can get close but trust me for the real thing you need a 4 holer.

  • love the tone***

  • I think this is the best sounding amp on youtube. I want one. Can you tell us any more about it? I get a bit confused about the different JMP models.

  • love

  • Great sound, what year JMP is this? Is it 100W

  • i hear a lot of SRV in this clip

  • can someone tell me what is a powerbrake? Thanks!

  • Helps coax out the overdriven harmonics at a lower volume,so you wont have to go to jail or pay a fine for pissing off your neighbor it also shows mercy to the people in the bar when yo're playing and they can leave with their hearing intact

  • how much is the powerbreak?

  • Great tone! Your using the Powerbrake to drive the amp at low volume, right? It works very nicely!

  • Indeed - Check my channel for some Indigenous tunes. You sound a lot like Mato!

  • JMP 50s distort easier than 100W SLPs, great sound.

  • dude, I love your style. This little ditty reminds me of "I'm Still Here" by Indigenous

Ps. Hit me up if you ever need a drummer.

  • whats the diff between small box and big box... is this an MKII...also whasts the diff between the 72's and earlier and the 75,76 and 77.. toint into the later 70's...im looking at a 1975 ..the guy is asking 1500

  • ok MK1s are the JMP-45. MKIIs are SLPs, but only ones made up to 71 i think are oficial plexis. the others are bridgepoints between a JCM800 and an SLP

  • sounds great! for anyone looking to hear some seriously plexi+strat tone, go to harmony central and find the eric johnson-effects vid under the interviews section. He has the tone of the gods.

  • got the same cab!!!!!

  • hi all - look for the ceriatone plexi lead, a nice marshall clone with a very good sound too!! for a sensational price.

  • makes we want to stomp a fuzz in there and party. nice .

  • Nice Playing, sounds a lot like Hendrix

  • how much did that head cost you???

  • could you play a les paul trough this beast???? awesome tone!

  • why would you do that?

  • how much would a used 72 plexi head would be? u know? i want one so bad, probabbly couldnt afford one though :(. btw perfect Srv tone

  • THE BEST TONE EVER!!!

    Best Regards

  • JTM45 ?

  • '72 JMP 50 small box head

  • is your amp head a plexi?

  • perfect tone!

  • WOW!!! Lucious tone! Nice playing, too!

  • Great Sound.... good vibes... Thanks

    Peace to you

  • Lennék a szomszédja mester.

(Bár kisgyerekük legalább megtanulná mi a jóság. :D)

  • TONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great !!!

Can you give me the amp powerbrake and guitar settings ?

  • That's pretty rich tone for an attenuator! How loud was that approximately? Awesome playing too :)

  • enough for the neighbours:)

  • Amazing as always Tomi!!

  • Thank You Brother:)

  • Great playing as usual. What year and model is that strat if you don't mind me asking?

  • 2005 American Series Hardtail

  • amazing !

  • clean channel??

  • Is that an attenuator that you are using that we see on top? Which Marshall head is that? It sounds fabulous!!

  • Yeah, that is a marshall powerbrake on the top of my 72 jmp 50 head.

  • hey man, what year is the cab??

  • 1972

  • BANGER!
