  • Now that Whitney has passed we need to get our real musicians and singers back to us...the money hungry mongrels taking over in the industry has totally dumbed down our music it's pathetic. Can you imagine how this song would sound on an actual album or cassette tape (of which I've worn out playing over and over again. Cd's don't give you that extra sound in music which makes it terrible to the ears. The inner ear is where you get the feeling of the music.

  • caron wheeler and soul 2 soul are working on an Album will be released in 2012

  • sultry woman , seductive song , anytime miss wheeler.

  • Soul II Soul is coming out with a new album starring Caron, in 2012.

  • This is why I will always miss old school R&B. I love this song! I heard it when I was about 7 or 8 and fell in love with it.

  • DAMN I LOVE CARON WHEELER, THAT FUNKY ENGLISH SOUND. I MUST SAY IT DOESNT MATTER WHAT WHERE THE BLACK MAN IS WE RUN MUSIC.

  • @sguccibags yes your right And once we realize we have brought more gifts to this planet beyond music only then can we realize our potential as a race. One can only imagine!!

  • This song is so beautiful. It brings tears to my eyes when I hear it. THIS SONG IS ABOUT THE LIFE OF THE TRUE CHOOSEN AND REMNANT OF THE SONS OF JACOB LIVING IN AND STRUGGLING IN CAPTIVITY. BY THE WAY, HER NAME IS CORAN AS IN ( THE HOLY KORAN ) WHEELER.

  • @ImalHasan ignore my comment it was meant for someone else!

  • "let the superficial pass you by"... words to live by.

  • our story.

  • I had issues with this bey-ouch, I remember in 1992 in a Video Soul interview with Donnie Simpson how she was talking some non-sense and had a STANK attitude. What-eva! She thought she was all that after Soul II Soul and went solo and it flopped! Too bad because she was talented....

  • I met Caron at a club in Atl....she was so friendly...it was like we knew each other for a long time

  • did you want to suck those titties ?

  • r u retarded?

  • r u gay ? she is beautful and would be a satisfying , sensual lover .

  • r u gay? do u have any class?

  • she is beautfiul and has big booberoonies. it's natural to want to lick, kiss, suck them.

  • @mignonhenne Were you breast fed as a infant?

  • @atlfine When u met her. Did she have her fine dreads?!

  • yea...but they were not as long then

  • Got ya. Thanks

  • wow!!...the guy with the dreds is my uncle!!...i remember this video like yesterday!!

  • dang your uncle is hot and sexy. do he still have the dreads?

  • Yes He Does!!...lol

  • Caron Wheeler's voice is incredible. She is a queen. I love her. (I just scared myself (LOL).

  • "Livin' in the light just like Caron Wheeler" - Diamond D

  • Hold the beat!, Stop the beat, Drop the beat! Yeah!

  • @antiann52 Who is that man that say that?

  • nice

  • This song inspired Yuzo Koshiro when he was composing Streets of Rage (Genesis game) soundtrack.

  • am lookin 4 the single please sumbody help want 2 spin it....

  • I have it. what would you like to know?

  • Living in the Light is a real winner for Caron. If she doesn't make another song that speaks volumes about us as a people, she has done well. Your Go, Caron!

  • You put my thoughts into exact words..well said.

  • @antiann52 Your right!! Beyond the hot beat and her off the chain voice are some powerful lyrics. It's too bad that a majority us (from the center of the world) don't live up the lyrics she's kicking. We are some awesome people I just wish we'd realize it.

  • WOW!!!!!this use 2 b the shit right here...this took me back!!!!!

  • wow, this song still sounds good even today. Good times

  • .....brings back great memories of college.

  • I remember seeing this at 13 in 1990. They played this onVideo Vibrations on BET.

  • i remember this! i use to love this... i was 12...

  • oh you didn't say nothing but a word. Video Vibrations used to be my show. Played a lot on Caribbean Rythms also.

  • she did a song with Guru from jazzmatazz and gang starr

  • i like the original version better

  • I have been looking for this song for years! I used to blast this in my Sony tape player in the late 80's early 90's. I never knew who song it. this is so me at 16 in New York going to School of American Ballet in New York City!

  • I still love this song.

  • picked up a promo copy of this cut from wedr in miami(they had 3, hope they don't miss it), had like 8 or 9 mixes on it, this one was number 3,also had 3 real tight mixes of "i adore you"..extra tight work...

  • I love this song! I love her voice. I wonder what she's doing now?

  • I heard she is back in the studio with Soul II Soul and they will release an album next year. :)

  • Memories!

  • Nice song and the beat is off the chain!

  • Brought the Cassette single played it till my car stereo ate it one day, had to discard it

loved it, where has black music gone.

  • I have this song on my iPod, great to see the video again

  • If rap wouldn't have happened the world would have appreciated Caron Wheeler's artistry so much more.. Caron Wheeler is the most under-rated artist of the past few generations... It's 'Black Power Music' and it's oh-so beautiful!!!... Thank you Caron Wheeler!!!...

  • what does rap have to do with how successful her career was/is? I cant stand when people hate on rap like its the cause of people/the worlds problems!!! Rap has good parts and bad parts just like R&B!!!

  • At l1 years old, I didn't necessarily know what this was about but felt the soul of it. Nowadays, I love it even more.

  • The song and video is beautiful, reflecting on the soul of black people. The lyrics are deep. "CHILDREN OF NATURE"

  • this song is a breath of fresh air

  • love this song very deep

  • What is soul? I think it's a combination of insight, passion, inquisitiveness and empathy. So many people in life get by through numbing their hearts and shutting down their brains. The times when I feel the most alive are when i am engaged with the worlsdand not functioning on autopilot.

  • beautiful song soooo much better than the garbage people put out today.. I used to have this album on tape and it popped....

  • Music like this IS still being made...with no major label (joke), & radio (bigger joke) support. Please seek it out and support it. Lots of soulful house grooves are out there.

  • The problem, as I see it, is not so much seeking it out. Besides Soul Sessions on BET Jazz, where else can u find it? I am SO starved for this kind of music.

  • You can find it right here! I love the fact that you can find so much great music on You Tube! You like this? Check out soulfull sistas like Amil Larrieux, Monique Bingham, Sandra St. Victor and on and on! Peace Diva!

  • I've found out that you can find it here;but what I truly meant 2 say is that what other venues give an outlet to "underground artists"? But it's all good, you get it one way r another and that's wonderful

I've already beat you to the punch on the soulful sistas except Monique Bingham(smile). Thanks for the insight and info, though!

  • Beautiful the song the video more music like this needs to made today.....

  • Memories!

  • I love this song thank u for post it. caron is the original singer for soul to soul back in the day for those who didnt know look at back to life video.

  • YouTubers you will not believe how long I have been looking for this video. I saw it originally on BET. I fell in love with Caron's voice and this particular song. It speaks to my soul. Thank you You Tube.

  • the story of black people.....

  • what a great artist i remember when the in living colour fly girls danced to this song and was wicked

  • I've never heard this song in my life, but it's damn awesome.

  • Truly & Ultimately Profound...shem embodies some form of goddess~

  • "Stolen from the center (of the world)...untimely departure..." deep. Awesome song.

  • I love this song..the whole album was amazingly socially conscious, her vocals are off the chain too. This song brings back memories, when soul/r&b was so much more than bling, money, b*tches, etc... Where's Caron these days??

  • That was great -- it brings back GREAT TIMES. Caron, where are u?????

  • This song was sampled for a yeast commercial when I was a kid. LOL! It's a great song though.

  • One of the best vocals/voices in popular music ever!! I wish musicians of today would be at least half inspired as the likes of Caron where back then...

  • Caron Wheeler is one of my favorite singers. I bought two of her solo albums, and both were outstanding! I loved this song and "BLUE IS THE COLOR OF PAIN" from her 1990 released album, and "IN OUR LOVE" and "NEED A MAN" from her next album in 1993,(BEACH OF THE WAR GODDESS). Her music combines great music with very deep messages. I hope she releases another album/CD soon!

  • Blue is the color of pain is my JAM!

  • Beautiful song. Caron Wheeler was so beautiful and earthy to me. I dug into sistas like that.

  • 2:17 dammit~!

  • Hahahaha

  • Videos back then were pretty artistic.

  • They still are

  • This song reminds me of being 10 again in 1990 when it came out this is one of those GEM forgotin songs thanks for the video of this song
