  • 0:55-1:001 is just insane!!!!

  • #1 Queen of Music Forever and always!!! Music box was a Fantastic Era For Mariah!!! But her voice way stronger now!!!! CRT FOREVER

  • I think that b/c Mariah didn't do much "mixing" back in her prime, it caused her voice to naturally deteriorate. Some look at "mixing" technique like its a bad thing, like the singer's cheating b/c they're not singing in FULL chest voice, but it is known that for females it is extremely unhealthy to belt higher than an Eb5 in full voice. "Mixing" allows you 2 belt higher and with power/force w/o strain. Y do u think Patti and Aretha can still belt after all these years? "Mixing"!

  • looove the D5 from j2tw

  • Slayed! Everything in this era was perfect. Love the MIH C#5s, the i'l be there F5s. Her whistle register was the bomb as well. Her tone was beautiful as well. Those F#5s as always were the bomb. That is HER note! No one can duplicate her tone and resonance up there. Love how every note her from B2-G7 was great!

  • Lol when I saw Mariah doing that little wave with her body to her melisma with the G3 at 1:51, I immediately got reminded of Aretha doing the same doing at the Divas Live Chain of Fools with Mariah at the the part that goes "Whole bunch of loving is much too strong"

  • omg..those make it happen C#5s slay me :(

  • She was, is and always will be the best. She the freaking queen!

  • some of those notes are the best of her career! at least some of my faves

  • YOU'RE ONE OF A KIND MARIAH CAREY.......YOUR THE BEST FEMALE SINGER IN THE WORLD.....LOVE YOU SO MUCH;-)

from PAULA MATACSIL #1 mariah carey fan from PHILIPPINES=)

  • @sentfromupabove thx. Ima watch the vid now. :))

  • @sentfromupabove thx sry I messed up ur name in the last one. I'll going to tht vid now thxxxx!!:)

  • Love this. Just wondering @sentfromabove can u make a vid of this era again but her only in the studio like u did on the butterfly era. I'd love for u to put AYNAF remixes in as well plz. If u have time:)

  • @BreBrebunny14 I helped MimiDahhling30 create the MB studio vr vid check it out :P

  • missed on some great Eb5's :/ lol

  • @iiAmitx3 i think i got enough lmao.. but link me please in a msg? xd

  • i literally think i would die if i had a talent like this and developed nodules. I honestly feel so much for her. Although can still put on an AMAZING performance now if she's rested and the day is right.

  • @cynnthemanevolant shes had nodules since she was 2 :/

  • @sentfromupabove her mom said she was born with them :)

  • @DreamloverLambi1 Her mom said she's had them since she was a little girl, not that she was born with them.

  • @Chimier i realize that i just went and watched the clip my mistake :)

  • @sentfromupabove Thats weird.

  • In my opinion she was better in this era than Daydream

  • @RomuloVideos2 I get what you mean. Her voice quality was very much still in shape in this era, but I actually think in Daydream she showed that she has acquired a lot of skill with her vocals. I'm not talking so much about range/quality, I'm talking about how more skilled she is in "using" her voice. I loved how her live performances differed so much to the studio versions, she adds notes here and there for a lil magic. Did you notice that each year her voice diminishes, her artistry grows? :D

  • @seansocheap Yes, I noticed that. I just think Music Box era was better than Daydream cause her vocal quality was in her peak in Music Box. I know she showed more agile and skill in Daydream era, but in my opinion, the quality of her voice gave life to Hero, Anytime You Need A Friend, Music Box, Just To Hold You Once Again and others that I know if she'd sung them in Daydream era, it wouldn't have the same magic. I believe that the same skill she has in Daydream she had here but didn't showed.

  • i love the portamento F5-E5 but wht is portamento? it's when a singer hits a certain notes and then decends to a key below?

  • @iiAmitx3 vocal glide to from one pitch to another

  • @sentfromupabove i LOVE this one!!! hahaha where do you know this from??

  • @iiAmitx3 studied some music theory as a hobby :p

  • @sentfromupabove nice :) btw did you hear about mariah replacing that girl on the US X-Factor? i think simon gave her a role there :) i'd DIE for this to heppen! well not actually die haha

  • @iiAmitx3 NOO tell me!? is it on mdj? i rarely check that site anymore they dont update much lol

  • @sentfromupabove no i saw it o fuse, i check mariahcarey site, MDJ twitter, "Lambily" (new) and fuse ALL THE TIME and fuse update ever less than a hour sometimes but they post the same thing 10 times lol

  • yes I remember when she was absolutely perfect and no one could touch her.

  • Her best era, vocally.

  • I love how she went from C6 to 7th so she can have a reference note.. fuking amazing relative pitch,

  • Mariah's range is always atleast 4 octaves.

  • Thanksgiving special is her best performance of AYNAF.

  • She is naturally an alto.. Forcing that sound for so long that really wasn't her comfort range really did a number. That's why she rested so much.

  • @harajukuphantom She didn't force out anything otherwise there would be a noticable strain like Christina Aguilera.

  • @sentfromupabove There is a difference between being loud and straining.

  • @harajukuphantom Who is talking about being loud?

  • @sentfromupabove I mean there is a fine line between being loud and singing with strain. Honestly, Mariah had an amazing voice, by no means do I discredit her ranges, her textures, and her ability to comprehend music from studio to live shows. However, seeing her sing from 1990-1996, 1996-1999.. its shocking what her voice morphed to. Its obviously not from proper singing technique or care. Your voice just doesn't spiral like that for nothing.

  • @harajukuphantom LMAO first you say force now loud? Whatever, Mariah still HAS a nearly perfect technique her voice is fragile because she has vocal nodules, her voice didn't 'morph' to anything she was tired and her tone dropped. She always took good care of her voice but overuse and doing concerts with songs of such high difficulty her voice did go through some problems. When she rests now she sounds amazing.

  • Comment removed

  • @harajukuphantom Yeah I bet it was ;) LMAO I'm hardly 'getting obnoxious' you are the clueless person on my video, trying to make a point that no one cares about, haters gon' hate. PEACE.

  • @sentfromupabove LMAO! PEACEEE smh!

  • Comment removed

  • @sentfromupabove lol i guess.

  • @sentfromupabove from 1990-1996 , she did not develop much whispered sound, her belting was power n loud, starting 1997 until now, she develop the whispered sound which make her can go low n low (I think), she still can belt but vocally not power as her 90's.

  • @sentfromupabove that's basically what that other dude just said lol.

  • @Jared95C He said she didnt care for her voice and had bad technique when she cared for her voice and has brilliant techinque...

  • @sentfromupabove oooh, i read it as him saying she was pushing her voice, even though she sounded good the sound was still forced.

  • @harajukuphantom Mariah has great technique! The change in the tone of her voice has nothing to do with her techniqe. Mariah 's tone sounds different on every single album she's ever recorded with maybe the exception of her 1994 Christmas album and 1995's Daydream...those two have about the same tone...

  • @harajukuphantom belting loud is just u put much energy when u belting thus ur belting is power, but straining is when u cannot hit the high notes but u forced it till u feel like pain or u can hit the notes but u put much energy until ur voice crack. XD. Doesn't mean that belting loud cannot strain ur voice , it may

  • @harajukuphantom There was absolutely no strain in her singing. It was lack of rest that tired out her voice. Her voice was effortless. She's belted a G5 like it was an A4 on her Daydream Tour. And she wasn't being loud. That is resonance. She actually has one of the best techniques ever. You need to remember she's had nodules since she was a little girl.

  • @rekupp A portamento is a transition between two pitches, a glissando can be a glide from more than 2 pitches that's the difference.

  • I love this vid it really shows her voice and power off as well as her beauty and also u included her 4octave belts wen some people dont thank u but i still do think she can sing maybe not with she had but we a different voice thts got a richer lower tone but she still has power

  • @Shazni1409 forgot to put power in her belts and she also has a lovely tone 2 her whistle as well to me she never lost her voice just changed it to suit the music buisness and it changed so she had to so she cud keep selling music she's a very smart buisness women and music writer, singer well she just has everything thst y she is a GODDESS!!!!!

  • it's must be better if you tell us where she perform :)

  • Her voice has gotten a lot deeper....

  • @BlackLightning20101 Yeahh she went from an alto to a contralto.

  • @sentfromupabove Yeah...I believe it...when you compare the texture of her voice here to the texture of her voice six years later during the Rainbow era, it can be a bit of a shellshock...

On a side-note, I forgot how many ballads she sang back then...smh...no wonder she did a 180. Pop ballads can be extremely boring to sing.

  • Those E5s sound more like falsetto tones.

  • @rekupp Which E5s? From 6:31-7:00 they are belts lol.

  • @sentfromupabove Eb5 and E5 from the Christmas specials. They have that hollow, flute-y sound that accompanies falsetto tones.

  • @rekupp You mean 8:48 and the clip after? They are head voice they have the typical vibrato :P

  • What song is Mariah's F3 at 1:20?

  • @dictionopolis I Dont Wanna Cry

  • what is that clip @6:45 and is it on youtube?

  • @dafuture93 joy to the world live 1994 :) do u want the link?

  • @sentfromupabove LMAO!!!

    #SLAYED

  • @MrAsianmusicman What do you want mymusicvidsandrants?

  • i love that she can sound like a bird with her whistles lol

  • Best vocal era!! I love it!!

  • which vision of love performance is that from

  • @jeremimi Which note?

  • @jeremimi some music box tour performance philli maybe cant remember exactly.

  • What song is that at 1:40?

  • @nemesisjq Without You

  • Don't get me wrong I still think Mariah Carey is one of the best singers the world has seen but back then it just felt like she was singing from her soul and to my soul. Especially on her lower notes like at 1:40 - 1:47

  • @MechanicalWood You're an attention whore for stating your stupid opinion.

  • wot does portamento mean??

  • @Shazni1409 It's like a vocal glide between two pitches.

  • People have always commented that her use of the whistle register is what damaged her voice, but I really doubt that. During that era her whistles were clean and clear, but I wonder what caused the drastic change in her voice? Has she ever spoken on it?

  • @SqueakyIri Yes on Larry King. I personally think the high belting and excessive use of her whole voice changed her 'effortlessness' factor...her voice itself is still there listen to her new xmas album she slayedddd

  • @SqueakyIri that's quiet simple, she changed her lifestyle after her divorce and started to go out and drink... that's not a big deal! I mean I go out and I drink too, like a lot of people! but I'm not a singer... and alcohol is on top of what's worse for the vocal chords... :(

she always had a very fragile voice with nodules

    champagne killed it.

  • @SqueakyIri

and now when you ask her about changes in her voice, she says that belting is boring!

    easy...

well, I dont blame her, she has a career to protect.

in fact I love her, and I always will, I'm just being realistic

  • @desbosquets16 I agree with what you say but belting can get boring and it's good she doesnt belt as often to keep her voice in better condition.

  • @sentfromupabove u are absolutely right! she gotta sing in her medium range, it's safer! + she has a gorgeous low voice

I meant that she dont recognize publicly that her voice changed

  • @sentfromupabove

Do u really think that her belt range is better now ?

I don't think so...but i agree with you that she would sound healthy in medium belt...

  • @lalettre79 I never said that stop misquoting.

  • this is still my favorite video by you lol cause you know musicbox is my fav CDand era

  • wots the song at 5:50 and wot performance is at 11:04

  • @Shazni1409 no he literally just sent me the whistle.

  • Hey! Can you tell me what concerts the whistles are from at 10:51?

They send chills through my whole body! so incredible!!!

    Thanks!

  • music box & daydream was her best era, vocally. I miss her that way </3

  • Awesome video! I love how you made her voice lourder than the insturmental. :)

  • Nothing against her, but, that really higher notes doesn't enternain me, i find belts more interesting...

  • @Assaulterable She belted amazingly here you should be very impressed then.

  • @CDionLive You're very efficient lol yeah it was that one, btw thanks for subscribing =) I'm going now ttyl =P

  • @CDionLive Maybe lol it was in shit quality couldn't find a good quality one anywhere :/

  • @sentfromupabove DAYDREAM!!!

  • @sentfromupabove the lower register b2 :P

  • After this video, calvin99999 could retire himself... haha

really, this is a true vocal range vid... I'm tired to seeing the same notes in music box era, and in this vid I could see many vocals that wasn't used....

  • @RomuloVideos2 omg SO true @calvin999999999 (calvin69) fails epically :L

  • @RomuloVideos2 LOL harsh :L

  • @sentfromupabove yeah, but this is true...

  • @RomuloVideos2 I agree with you :) Btw what's your favourite Mariah era and note in this vid? I think @calvin999999999 completely copied @bconsitt 's music box era video. Did you notice that?

  • @RomuloVideos2 Agreeed lol

  • from this video? ummm I like the Eb5'sand C's in make it happen, the "YES" she does before the F#3 in without you, the VOL C5, the D5 in dreamlover, the last F in anytime you need a friend, the F, Bb6(first one)G#6,C#7,D7 and the last staccato whistle note. but one of my favs that always comes first to mind is the note she does at disneyworld while singing joy to the world she belts "ALL" I love that note she doesnt do it as good in any other performance nor on the album

  • the F3 at 1:21 where is that from?

  • @lastdarklight I Dont Wanna Cry, Music Box Tour, Worcester (I think or Phillidelphia)

  • @sentfromupabove oh I should have known that lol awesome vid
