One thing I can't understand is how reanimator had the rights to show a real dead cat in the scene where rufus is in the refrigerator. As much as I love horror movies, I hate the fact that they use cruelty to dogs or cats. I guess the ASPCA wasn't strong enough back then as it is now. Or Staurt Gordon must not like cats. Does anyone possibly know how they had managed to have a right to put a real dead cat in the movie.

Nitelathe, what makes you think the cat is real? I've never heard anything about them using a real dad cat. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think we can assume that the cat is fake. Also, if an animal is already dead (and not killed for the filmmakers) then how is the use of the body cruelty?

In short, I don't think that's a real dead cat. It would be easier and more hygienic to make a dead prop cat.

The part where the cat is first discovered dead in the refrigerator is said by Jeffrey Combs on the reanimator dvd communtary that it was a real dead cat. Don't get me wrong reanimator was an interesting film. Its just that making props ups to look like dead pets is one thing, but using a real dead pet is another. I hope I am wrong, and hopefully Combs was only kidding. I am just a real cat lover, and hopefully they didn't do nothing to the cat if it was real or not while it was alive.
