  • 14:53, LOL bloody love it!

  • any knife can be used effectively as a weapon if the user has the training to do so. i agree with many of your points, but even a kitchen knife can be used as an effective weapon.

  • It really surprised me that it costs 200. Dollars just to get such a knife with limited utility and low end steel. This blade design totally fails as a combat knife. My 12 inch kukri weighs around the same, and that's a combat knife

  • it look so sharp for me

  • i got this knife on ebay. man it looks cool but I really didn't like it... i paid so much money for not a hole lot!!! it was to heavy for its size. the movie try's to make it look like a fighting knife but that's a bunch of bull. also its hard to sharpen and loses its edge quickly. I prefer the bk2 or the esee 5

  • so you say it would probably do this or that well, why dont you get some balistics gell or a pig carcas or something and actually test the knife, I am not saying whether or not it is a good knife all that I am saying is that your methods do not really work. Oh and by the way I could snap a 3/16 thick knife with my bare hands.

  • You call that a knife??? THIS IS A KNIFE... LMAO!!!!!!!

  • I think you are very knowledgeable about knives and gear, but in my opinion any blade that you carry on you, usually your edc is going to be your blade that you will use to protect yourself. This is usually is not a 10 inch blade sheath knife. I love large sheath knives but the public places i go i would get some funny looks if i had something that large on my belt, i prefer a smaller folder when when going into public and a larger knife when in the woods.

  • Jimmy Lile made the First Blood knife... I believe Hibben only started working on the Rambo franchise with the third film... not sure about the second movie though.

  • The fighting art or style utilizes slices most of the time, so I get the heavy tip and the curve for slicing. The handle is similar to an "Itak" or a "barong". In fact, the knife seems like a smaller version of a barong, but americanized survival knife. Which is weird to me, but just my opinion.

  • Love your vids, but I completely disagree with you on this one.

  • 14:51 Pikachu!

  • Bro... It's NOT A FIGHTING KNIFE! That's why it's heavy at the tip.

  • @sailortab70 But they portrayed it as a fighting knife. Thats what he is talking about

  • Who cares about this movie ? The knife looks well made , short and simple . Weight really helps with chopping ..,big time! I Carry a small forest axe. Why hate on a simple knife .. Because of Hollywood? I imagine the knife functions fine.

  • when rambo came out gil hibben made a knife for sylvester. so whats his problem?? he dosen't like it don't buy it.

  • this is the Dumbest retarded blade ever

  • Every knife is a bad one and every knife is a great one it doesent matter what other people say every one likes different things it's just preference even if a knife is heavy or dulls quick or the metal is rubbish if you like it. Use it .

  • i don't believe any of the bullshit they say about the knife, but i think the knife looks cool as hell.

  • @eveyone100 You do know this is not designed as a "Weapon" right? This is a pure wilderness tool. Also, while I like nutnfancy & support TNP, I have to say that this particular video is a mere waste of time. It's not based on any experiences nutn has personally had. I encourage everyone to get out and try what works for them instead of listening to your favorite Gear reviewer and bandwagoning with him/her. Talk is cheap

  • This knife looks like something Klingon from Star Trek and ridiculous, one full length blade of good steel is the best survival knife. This is the knife that made a bunch of guys who build up 4 cylinder cars and love the fast and the furious turn their heads towards survival knives because of The Hunted, trendy monkey see monkey do mentality. The original Rambo knife is a much better knife than this space movie prop.

  • nutnfancy, have you seen the mini TBT?

  • speakin of crocodile dundee could you do a review on his knife from outback knives?

  • @Guitardude1616 There is no need dude. I can do it for you right now. The knife is a large bowie. Put a really good edge on it and it serves as both a short machete and good chopper,it has some serious heft to it as it's a heavy steel construction. The handle is comfortable, the hilt is a brass setting at least the original I owned was. The blade is a bit too long for precision work like gutting and skinning and whittling but good for all around chopping to make tent pegs or branches or vines. :)

  • Okay...I think you're under the impression that Tom Brown wrote, directed, or produced the movie you're discussing. I'm not going to check, but that doesn't seem to be the case. In my (speculative but perhaps more logical than yours) opinion, he was brought in for some sort of limited /advising/ role once they saw his knife and they said "that's badass!" The only valid part of this review is the end--the knife is plainly far too heavy for its length, and its geometry is very, very bad.

  • This item is useless

  • useless garbage.

  • dude, your not even holding the knife and using it. Just basing on pictures. Your review is pretty invalid. And I dont own one so Im not biased towards it.

  • Any thing that Tops Knifes make is very way over priced

  • I can't seem to break my Tom Brown Tracker. No matter what I do.It gets easy to sharpen after the first couple of times. And if you sharpen the draw knife it will cut through a log with the greatest of ease. It's also good for hammering,if you don't have a good rock layin around.I say if you want a good knife to last for the long haul, this is it!

  • the marine raider weighs 21 ounces, not 27. (knife only)

  • Speaking of hype, how 'bout a review on the new Bear Grylls knives?

  • I have batoned through 7 in logs just so you know.

  • LOLWTF the HEAVY end isnt for CHOPPING??

  • POWER ASSIST

  • great knife!! i have it. used it for some time now. realy good alround tool.

and for combat.. its realy not the knife, its the man holding it!

  • May I ask how many knifes you have designed and made sir ? How much training do you have in actual use of a blade ? And I'm not talking just training in the milatary, do you have any thing else ? And every elite soldier I have ever talked to says shorter is better. You don't want some big pig sticker. Do you even collect blades dude ?

  • I`ll just stick to my rocksalt...

  • CS Gurkha Kukri will destroy this knife in anyway...

  • the red scoorpion looks more like the knife in the movie

  • he only used that knife in the hunter scene when he jumps out the window he's got ka-bars one turned sideways on the back of he's belt.

  • ...... the movie is about tom brown.... and how he trained the military.

and how that actually happened maybe not as drama with the city shit and stuff. but a dude went nuts and he was best in his class. and tom brown had to go get him and bring him back. its in his book.

anyway 2 POUNDS IS FOR SPLITTING WOOD. its not for killing killing is a last resort..... CRY ABOUT THE WEIGHT BUT AGAINST A GRIZZLY youll want a heavy swing. to make that spear.

  • I LOVE YOUR REVIEWS BUT GO OUTSIDE AND USE THAT DAMN KNIFE.

  • Comment removed

  • Guns are for Joes. Knives are for pros. Is it overpriced? Yup, but it has good weight to carry through impact while maintaining concealability. It's not a kukri, but its shape and weight aren't bad. If you know knife fighting, the hooked part tears flesh that makes it a bugger to try and stitch and makes for a nasty exit wound from a thrust. Personally instead of the serration I'd like to see a back edge at the tip and a smoother grip for reversing your grip with more comfort.

  • How do you sharpen that saw, BTW?

Not pointy enough for a fighting knife.

  • I keep reading that it's a great knife IF you know how to use it. If you need a PhD in knifeology to use it, I call that a design failure.

I know it would be a lot less work to build a fire with a TB Tracker than a CS Trailmaster. You'd freeze to death before you were half done.

  • I have chopped a 2"x4" in half in less the a minute with this knife because of the weight you dont have to swing as hard like you would with that 10oz BUT YOU ARE RIGHTbowie and the first part to this video was a movie review nothing about the knife and to tell you the truth the exrta 4 inches on your bowie its going to give you that much of an advantage if you dont know how to use it BUT YOU ARE RIGHT IT IS OVER PRICED BLADE BECAUSE OF THE MOVIE and 6 spec.ops units issued this knife U.S.M.C.

  • Ok so its over priced buy after watching the video I realized he has no idea what he is talking about you cant give as much info with out holding the knife I have this knife got it as a gift I have to say yes its over price but it is a good design for a singal fixed blade multi use its easy knife to sharpen and the hacking part of the knife is not the flat part but the curved part of the blade use like a hatchet the part where the curv meets the flat theres a hook great for throat cutting

  • i think id go for my CS kukri, what convinces me is remembering he power a concave edge has i also remember records of the power the romphoina, falx and falcata had on flesh and the fact the romans altered their armour, and strengthened it after encountering these weapons.

    its also cheap,

  • i enjoy your honesty and your opinion of what is true about weapons and what is a complete load of crapnuggets about a weapon

  • it's not a combat knife. it's more of a like survival knife designed for really heavy duty stuff as opposed to fighting

  • >$200?! Hmmm. Tracker, Junglass, Tracker, Junglass...I can't decide.

Let's make it easier. Tracker, CS Trailmaster, Tracker, Trailmaster....I still can't decide! LOL

Hell, that new Buck Hoodlum is only $170.

  • Crocodile Dundee "Knife? Thats a Knife!"hahahhaha I mostly remember this part of the movie:D

  • "as a combat knife they are completely inferior...... COMPLETELY! inferior."

I agree with your review but the way you emphasized it

    just made me laugh....

    lol :)

  • He needs to really use a knife before he reviews it. I had it and he gets a few things wrong. The end of the blade is used for chopping and it's really good at that. the straight part of the blade is for carving, planing and splitting. Is it good for fighting? I think a slash would be nasty with that gut hook but he's right about the stabbing.

The rest of his points are good though. It's Pricy, heavy, thick grind, sucks at holding an edge, grind gets in the way of some tasks etc.

  • Great review, nutn, wow, this thing is over-hyped, the first time i really saw and analyzed this knife was with some other guy on youtube talking about how great it was, that 'it can do this, and it can do that' its trying to do too much with a 6 inch blade, and the sexiness of it detracts from its functionality, frankly. I just got two knives as gifts for my birthday: Ka Bar USMC and a large heavy bowie, and I love them, each under $60. Much more capable than something so crappy over $200

  • It might work as a bone breaker and skinning knife if you did not have anything else.

  • i saw it on god of war the game as sword

  • this design also flunked the noss destruction test.

  • This knife costs £280 here in the UK (about $420 US?) and I often wondered if it was as good as promised. On this showing I'm glad I saved my cash! Instead, I have a BEAUTIFUL hand made 14" 77 layer Damascus kukri forged by a Nepalese Kami (bladesmith) which does everything I need and cost me £180 including shipping from Nepal, Damascus chakmak and karda accessory knives and a gorgeous silver mounted sheath. It pays to check out the hype first! Thanks for the straight talk Nutnfancy!

  • @larjanus hi. iv ordered 2 kukris from khukuriblades . com but i have not seen anything in damascus . do you mind telling me where you got yours .

  • the knife isn't heavy

  • This knife reminds me of the Jeff Goldblum quote: "...so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should." Perfectly useless knife. Too short to be a good chopper, too thick and unwieldy to clean game, too frikkin' weird to easily sharpen. After ten years in the Infantry I can say this would be the very last knife I would use for survival. I have no idea why anyone would pay for this unless they just wanted one to hang on the wall for looks.

  • I have used many knives with my training ops for the military..... Generally a tracker is better for special ops due to their fitness standards, as well as a multi functional tool... If you are looking for a general combat knife, i like a CR2060 CRKT Elishewitz.... But for guerilla ops the tracker is favorable.... But I like you video....

  • This knife was designed for survival. Not military, but actually survival. Every part of it has a function. The curve on the back is for batonning. The "funky" hook on the lower blade is for smoothing shafts of wood, like arrows, spears, bows, etc.. (i think it's called a rounder). And so on.. It was never intended for combat.

  • I don't agree with nutn in a lot of his videos, but I do agree with his review here. This knife was an over-glorified movie prop. Practically little survival use.

  • ya.. i'll stick to my kabar thanks lol

  • @HeroSavage I don't see how this isn't a reveiw. He looked at the knife, assessed the specifications and gave his opinion(which is all a reveiw ever is) about how (not) good this knife is. I agree that if he actually used the knife he might have a more thorough reveiw, but seeing the blade design and weight, I think a 12 year old could tell this knife is inadequate for just about everything.

  • 10$ bucks got me something better than this, well that is better suited for myself lol its a blade called the jungle got it at a bargain

  • Nutnfancy, the reason you dont like this knife is because it was made for one purpose, to skin and flesh animals. Notice the curve on the blade? Being a hunter i know that this would be a great skinning knife(not chopping). by the way the smaller version would be even better for cleaning an animal

  • its too small for survival it may look cool but thats all so..... dude your right again

  • its too small for survival it may look cool but thats all so..... dude your wright again

  • The Tom Brown basically sucks at everything it is suppose to do. I know cause I owned one. First off the grinds were WAY TOO THICK to get a good bit into the wood for chopping, slicing or anything else. I tried to like this knife but I couldn't because it is a poor excuse for a knife. I can take my 12" Ontario machete and out do Tom Brown himself if he would use his own Tracker. I have used machetes for along time. My go to blades are a Mora #137 and a ESEE Lite Machete.

  • the only use that i can see for this knife is for skinning an animal thats about it

  • I'd be happy if you were generalized with this screen review, but unfortunately you have taken your review beyond your resources. Sure, the knife was hyped up by its performance in the hunted, but so have other weapons such as shotguns, swords, throwing knives, boomerangs, and a whole other slew of weaponry. Hollywood over exaggerates everything. In my opinion, I feel you have no credibility in reviewing this knife because you aren't holding it in your hands. There is no truth in speculation.

  • Wow! Is all I can say, I really like your vids, but you at least have to use the product you're reviewing before you can pass judgement, granted this blade may not appeal to all just as tanto point vs drop point, everyone has their own opinions and preferences, you CANNOT use 1 blade for all tasks, hence several different blade types, lengths, widths, points as previously mentioned, and shapes. Just like you wouldn't use a filet knife to skin a deer, you wouldn't use a butter knife to whittle

  • I'm dissapointed man, I just dont see how you can call it a review, you didnt buy or use the damn thing. Call it an opinion, but not a review. Respect the english language man.

  • @HeroSavage - completly agree dude, i have used the knife and held it, it still sucks but call it an opinion instead of a review. Jo smo may love the knife somewhere in indonesia

  • great review thanks for posting!

  • I think a hand axe, 4 inch skinner combo would be more useful than the Tracker. If you got a set up with polymer handles it would be lighter too.

  • dave beck actually designed and produced this knife, he died and tom brown took over

  • I agree with you Nutn' on the same premise that I hate "war" movies that show a M-16 go click click click after firing empty. POOR RESEARCH into the subject matter. I hate inaccurate medical movies also for the same reason.

  • I think the reason people would want a shorter blade for combat would be speed. So that would be the reason you'd forego reach, I would assume, so you could get the first strike. But yeah I'm sure it's an okay knife (if way overpriced), for the woods or whatever. Good chopping, small enough to skin things without a huge inconvenience. Wouldn't pay that much though. Buy a blank and go from there.

  • @ThirdPartyShadow A lot of knife experts I've listened to seem to favor shorter blades for a few reasons. Maneuverability, for one. Say you get knocked onto the ground and someone is on top of you, or forced into a wall. You're really not going to be able to draw a full sized blade effectively that way. Others that come to mind would be conceal ability, and lowering the risk of a disarm. A larger blade will offer someone more leverage to take it off you, a smaller blade is easier to retain.

  • For 22oz you can carry the Cold Steel Gurkha Kukri SK5, and for cheaper vs. the 28oz of this knife. I have to agree with your talking points but I feel you would really drive the validity of them home if you did use it in the field. The main point I think one should take away is to not let Hollywood sell us on anything, and that goes far beyond the scope of a knife sale pitch.

  • ok, bro if you never used this knife then you should remove this garbage from you tube. the tracker is a great knife and the usefullness is endless.the movie featured this knife in one way only.i lived in the woods for 8 months using just this knfe and my bow.try this blade befor you knock it. ill even send a copy of the manuel

  • Lousy combat knife! Can not get organ penetration thrusts with this blade design.

  • I agree with most everything you've said about the practicality of the knife, but the scout carry, I actually like. There are reports of the scout style carry that go way back to that of Indian scouts. It serves well for moving quickly through the woods. Granted I make my own sheaths, and actually have the loops drop down about two inches to better accommodate a pack, and a bit more freedom of movement. My sheaths house mt Ka-bars, and Sog Seal knives, and are very small in comparison to that.

  • im sorry, i am an absolute fan of your vids, but this is rediculous. your reviewing the knife through screenshots. i believe that you have held it, but i dont trust a "green-screen" review.

  • @scrimpyanimal So do you go out and buy something you are almost sure you are not going to like? If that is the case I have some dog poop in a bag ill sell ya lol. Granted with nutn he is doing a review on it and you are not but do you really expect him to waste time going out to borrow or buy a knife just to give it a negative review.

  • I think it looks like crap, that marine thing though, just the silhouette is cool.

  • hahah i love how u can make a review on a knife u never even held buddy...once i used the knife i didnt like it too much but once i put a good edge on it, it was very good. this thing can chop better than a hatchet, and holds an edge a long time so i think u should use it before u speak man. and when u said that it would be good to chop on the straight edge?! so ignorant in the knowledge of knives, thats why the big curved part is there so read up and use somthing before u say anything,

  • @Mr1000Outdoors retarded troll is retarded, go away

  • @Mr1000Outdoors His field experience is right there in front of your face. He has dozens of videos showing him out in the wilderness actually using blades to do real work. I've seen reviews of the Tom Brown Tracker, being used on site, and the feedback is pretty consistent. It's not difficult to see how a design will work, after you've spent a lot of your life in the out of doors, actually working with blades. If he's wrong, lets see you post a video using it effectively.

  • Comment removed

  • you're right it is a chopper...it'll chop that 10" stainless steel bowie right in half...leaving you with only a 5 " square tip.

  • I agree this blade is pretty much ridiculous in almost every single POU and I thought Pikachu at the end was funni..WHERE'S THE REVIEW FOR THAT MOVIE?!

  • the square notching is for making traps and the carrying style is called the scout style, its more secure for when you are doing scout type activities

  • the square notching is for making traps

  • So let me get this straight. You DON'T OWN one of these knives, yet you do a review of it??? LOL And further more, 22 ounces IS NOT CLOSE to 2 pounds like you said. It's actually not even 1 1/2 pounds.

I don't own one either, just think it's funny you do a review of a knife you've never used. Try it, you may love it.

  • I can only hope that if one day I ever find myself in a knife fight, the other guy has one of these. I would pretty much win by default.

  • most of the people here saying it sucks don't even have the knife.

  • First of all, it was never made to be for "Combat"!!! This knife was design only to be a survival knife made in the "scout fashion" meaning to be used as a hunting, trapping and general survival knife. I attending his "school" in the Barrens 3 times. He designed it over 20 years ago; the first one made was done many years before the movie was in filming, then someone else made it before TOPS. Second it was not made to be a Red Wood chopping Rambo knife like yours. That I would an axe.

    Try it.

  • Pikachu? How does that make it into a nutnfancy vid?

  • If you dont agree with nutnfancys verdict, Watch his "knife clinic" vids and then see. It would get owned!! To be honest, this blade is worthless (besides looking sexy on you shelf). With all the awesome blades out there,Who would want this knife?! I have a lot of respect for Tom Brown and the teachings of "Grandfather" and i have read most his books. But this is clearly way too "hyped up" for what it can do and way overly priced.

  • I agree. The knife looks horrible. I imagine that it is about as useful in the bush as a kick in the balls. Everything about it is wrong, why anyone would buy this over an RC-4 is beyond my ability to comprehend. HOWEVER, Tom Brown is a legend, and personally i think he had about as much to do with this design as i did. In his book Wilderness Survival he barely even mentions knives at all! Not interested! I don't know what the deal is, but i'd bet T.B carry's little more than a swiss army knife.

  • Yep I agree from fist video and continue.

Please look at the quality and heart of these videos guys.

    Support TNP

God bless America & know that "common sense is not common" Thomas Payne

  • You can also get a very reasonably price for a leather sheath for the TBT from hedgehog leatherworks for only $209! What a steal! Especially for the TBT which they sell for a low $259...

    - end sarcasm

Back to the real world... I'm thinking of how many other knives I can get for that kind of money. lol

  • Are you doing a review of a knife in a hollywood movie or are you doing a review of a actual knife?

Do you do the same with the crap knifes that Rambo uses? Or how about the sword in "highlander"? ITS HOLLYWOOD!

Can you imagine for example "Top Gear" doing a public review of a car by watching "Mission Impossible"?

For the gun reviews, great work. We dont have same interest in knifes. I like survival and you refer more to combat and public carry.

    Take care

  • You should make a review about Robocop's gun too, have you ever sitted with a gun in a car, or even the marine raider, and of corse its a mixed hunting knife?

  • good review Nut'n . A well thoughtout, and revealing review of a knife that is nothing but hype.

  • Interesting design. However it's very over priced.

  • seanmulhall, who is a prooven bushcraft expert, also has a two part practical review vid of the tbt on his channel.. Although he doesn't say in so many words 'cause he's a way too nice guy and doesn't want to piss on anyone's parade, clearly shows with practical testing that the only good thing about this knife is that its a heavy piece of sharp metal

  • the tom brown tracker knife was designed by tom brown, and 6 special forces experts. combined that is over 100 years of experience. the knife was designed for tactical use and survival.

  • @daboodeef179

it was designed to sell, for advanced marketing and great sales.. Its designed to be an expensive tool with the eyecandy appeal that makes it sell.. 'tactical use and survival' my arse.. a kukri, machete or parang can do just as well if not better in those roles and 2/3 of the world has done so for the last 100yrs

  • @daboodeef179 Not buying into the SF experts helping with the design. I have never heard of any special force members or groups using a knife like this. Is there any military guys out there that have used a knife like this in combat? 179, if you were in the military have you or would you carry blade like that?

  • @daboodeef179 bullshit. This knife has NO characteristics conducive to a "tactical" knife. The point geometry and edge profile is in no way suited for defensive use. It is mediocre even in a "survival" knife.

  • The knife looks "sexy" . That's all its good for. I'd carry a Walmart machete as my only blade before i'd carry that. I have a $12 multi tool that is more suited for survival. Honest review, IMO. You don't have to hold that to know it's trying to do too many things. I think that the Ka-Bar Companion would destroy the "tracker" in a field test, and you can pick one of those up for $60.

  • @The3fingervic The knife works. Although that TOPS version is not best version of it. Go there in the wild and test it yourself.

  • hehe ur like ohh I hate the knife!!!!!!!!!!then ohhh im in love with the handle its soo nice! hehe jk man

  • Go to the Tom Browns Standard class, learn about all the aspects you are making assumptions about to be able to give an educated non-prejudiced review. The clips are flexible and this is one of many ways the knife can be carried. I have carried a blade that way when bending down a lot to look at tracks. It is based on the way the Indians used and carried their blades for scouting, tracking, and riding horses.

  • And speaking of hype, there is very little in America these days that is not usually more hype than truthfulness. It is VERY refreshing to watch Nutn's videos for that reason alone. Nutn is forthright, reasonable & level headed, and offers the voice of intelligently considered experience. No hype at all.

America needs a lot more people with a life philosophy much more akin to that of Nutnfancy than the false matrix realities Hollywood wants us to live in.

  • Lemme get this straight..you're downing a knife you never seen, held or used in person? Never mind the movie, I give your credibility a "2 out of 5!"

  • i love you vids nutin.... but this is crap.. you havent even held it like you said. acctualy review it. dont just pour shit allover the product....

  • yeah it is like they tried to re-invent the wheel. It is like that 80s survival rambo knife.

  • hey nutnfancy can you review the cold steel kukri i wanna know what you think about kukris

  • is this the only review you've done of a knife that you don't have in front of you?

  • Dude, you can't talk about something you haven't used. If you haven't even held it in your hand how can you back up anything you said in this video. I'm used plete of knives and I know I can't make a review about something i haven't tried out personally.

  • 1st. of all buy the knife use it, before you try to do a review!

2nd.who are you to review this knife?

  • It looks more like a belt knife than an actual survival knife...

  • 28 ounces? My ~41cm long, 7mm thick kukri is ~525g. :D

  • Buy the knife first, THEN criticize it.

  • Just give me an 8 inch bowie with a scandi and a convex grind

  • the heavier the knife better some people wants the knife for special forces and use them for throwing them and killing people so if a knife is heavy enough it wont kill and stab deep when thrown

  • your evaluation was clear, logical and unbiased. I learned a lot. I'm going to watch your other vids to help me choose a good knife. thanks.

  • Thank you! Ive had like three friends ask me about this knife, like it is the 'KING' of survival knive's! And a $200 1095 blade, HA!!! Still laugh when I see the movie and all the F.B.I. guys are looking at that GAPING HOLE and say an axe did it, and L.T. 'educates' them that it was done by 'so and so knife' and can identify the PERSON THAT THREW IT!!! Great vid, Im sure plenty (know one for sure) of people have bought this thinkin its the GREATEST OUTDOORS KNIFE EVER,lol,2nd knd of cool maybe

  • Ka-bar's potbelly knife is way better and cheaper mind you!

  • lol iv been looking at all the comments and nobody can agree on what type of knife it is. all i know is i can tell just by looking at it that it is a huge peace of crap and nowhere near worth the money thanks for the video man

  • All this because of a stupid movie? "it's ill suited for stabbing"...ya think? I don't own one, and probably never would, but it does have some merit as a "survival knife" which happens to be what it's marketed as. Forget the actors. Don't even stoop to thier level. BTW, all around, I think you do a great job.

  • Forget "The Hunted" man...it's just a movie. Anyone who buys a blade based only on what they see in Hollywood hype deserves what they get.

  • First of all man you can not debate the funcktion of a knife based on a movie. Movies always blow weapon capabilities out of proportion. Second of all as far as needing reach for combat, Navy seals use a small 3 inch folding knife for close combat.

  • @tytrue14 what knife is that.

  • @Wyndstarthedruid

They use a Cold Steel Recon folding knife

  • @Wyndstarthedruid

They use a Cold Steel Recon folding knife. Now I am not saying that the Tom Brown Tracker is a kick ass knife because I have never used one personally. I just don't think how it is protrayed in a movie has any revelance to its actual capabilities.

  • kife has wayy to many "features" that it is redundant

  • THANK YOU! Thank you and thank you. These things are such crap. A spendy gimmick on steroids. All fueled by the bizarre cultish worship of Tom Brown. For about 1/6 money and less weight you could get a Mora and a Cold Steel trail hawk that would blow this turd away. Just look at what the old trappers survived with. 'Hawks or camp axes and hudson bay company butchers knives.

  • So Nutn didn't actually handle the knife himself? So how is this review credible? I find the negative reviews funny considering the blade has everything Nutn likes (Jimping, notch makers, flat edge) . Putting that aside I'm not a Brown fan, but what exactly are you looking for from a six inch knife to chop?

And in The Hunted he was using it for everything. They just didn't take 30 minutes to show the audience. This review was biased and didn't even have a table top... = fail.

  • Shoulda put a ka bar in the movie instead of this piece of shit!. KA BAR ALL THE WAY ORAH!

  • yup a knife is a secondary weapon and Nutn always has a gun on him in the weapon check videos.

  • While it is a cool looking knife, I prefer a Good Carbon Steel Khukuri knife.

  • A wet noodle would cut as well.

    Maybe better.

A hollow ground blade is the absolute worst blade grind to put on a knife that is for chopping.

  • @Conan568 buy a cold steel spartan and go chop with it, tell me its the worst.

  • @Wyndstarthedruid

Simple physics, a hollow ground blade cannot chop as well as a convex ground blade.

I make the things and I'll put mine up against ANYONE'S.

  • When i first saw this knife (haven't seen that movie) i immediately thought "Another of those silly fantasy/science fiction bullshit novelty knives.", then i was surprised to hear that apparently the strange design is somehow all thought through and serves a survival purpose. This video here makes a lot more sense to me than all the positive reviews i have heard and seen.

  • Tom Brown Tracker... "NO THANKS! , I don't want it, too heavy!"

Tell Us how you REALLY feel , lol I've watched all of your videos that pertained to gear I owned or was looking to purchase, so now I just randomly pick one to watch daily as a time killer since they're normally full of info and I usually learn something Today I saw this and Immediately thought " I HOPE he doesn't like this thing!" I laughed through most of the 2 parts, I'm glad you saw it for what it was , a whole lotta suck!

  • rather give me a monsterous cool fitzen knive then ... like the predator or the tank ... much more usefull ...

  • how can you say anything bad about the tom brown traker!!! i love this knife it has never faild me!!! in survivle or combat.

  • @heavymetalninja09 Yeah, being survival there at Peckerwood High School is such a bitch.

  • @heavymetalninja09 you've never went to combat.

  • You haven't even had one of these in your hands, how can you judge this? This is a SURVIVAL knife, not a "Combat" knife, although still deadly it's not meant for combat. And the Chopping blade is best used at the 4" blade up top

  • If I can post again.. It is a very good knife for survival, however there is no cut and dry rule for survival. Personally I would take a Fallkniven F1 or A1 or similar knife over a T1 any day. The T1 is great for what it is, but it is not the best knife for all tasks, or even most tasks. Like the videos, like the review, agree on most points, just playing devil's advocate a bit.

  • I Own one. Totally agree with most points, the movie portrays it as something it isn't. Bad combat knife, it is not meant for that. However, the knife was designed long before the movie, it was not stylized to fit Hollywood expectations. As I said I agree with most points, but a few I do not. This knife will easily baton through logs wider than the blade length, and the wide steel and deep grind serve to help split. Each feature is to serve a purpose as Tom teaches in his courses. Cont..

  • I have read a Tom Brown book I think it was called the Tracker,it was a great book I sugest it to all ! But Nuttn is totaly right here,I would buy it for the cool factor but thats all...

  • Normally, I am willing to put up with more weight for more firepower. But, in this case, you get even more firepower for less weight with a "regular" knife and a "regular" hatchet. :/

  • well, it is just a movie...i mean rambo hip-firing an M60 isn't exactly realistic or practical either. if people are taking their knowledge of knives and their applications from movies, then there's already something wrong with them. no need to try and dispel such things for people like that.

  • wow a hole ounce more

  • how can you review something you dont even have, maby u cant afford one,you put down the tracker because of the novie, but you endorse the crock dundee movie?,i guess the gil hibben rambo knives as well.

  • 8:53 LOL I HAVE batoned through wood BIGGER than that with my 3" S&W pocket knife!

  • it was the red scorpion six knife that was in the movie the hunted

  • 2nd type of cool though =)

  • @KyoruMizuruki Actually, that's a very good point. If a person likes it and wants it..go for it. -- Veri

  • @KyoruMizuruki Nutn and I were talking about your comment the other night. The second type of cool is a HUGE motivational factor in purchases...and rightly so. Even if everyone around you dismisses something, and yet it appeals to you, the opinion that matters is your own. Great comment, Kyoru. -- Veri

  • @nutnfancy Haha very honoured my comment was actually discussed by you and Nutn :) That's the reason i buy cheapo often. They sometimes have more unique designs. But remember the 2nd type of cool also the main reason for people buying on impulse. One guy might get this, THEN realize it has a bad blade shape, and that factor made him forget about the 2nd type of cool factor.

  • This is really just a movie review and you seem very biased. Not to mention you're basing the quality of a knife off of a movie you don't like. Will the movie play things up? Yes, it's a movie. Will people go out and buy this knife after seeing it, thinking they too will become amazing killers? Maybe, but they would for any knife. Throughout the whole review you seem a bit condescending and it feels like you aren't giving it a fair chance. Go buy one, use it and review it again.

  • that things a brick 28 oz!? haha
