The drummer and bass player are much too unappreciated and the other guitarist too. Great band, it's too bad Cedric and Omar receive all the notoriety.
@moralyson actually in an interview they said they had wrote all of the music for this album, if not a majority. cedric always played drums from a long time before and incorporated ideas through tonys style. all albums are credited with all of them writing but i know all of them except were more of multi instrumentalist . their all appreciating in this band though, they all fit in together, all of them from very different background, truly a cultural musical experience was born
I have never seem people 'feel' the music like these guys they were and are the best! But I always wonder to myself "can Omar be playing guitar when he's jumping around like that???" LOL :P Anyway, this vid is madness and it is so awesome!
@edumacation101 its definitely worth checking out man... I got into it heavily after deloused, sort of fell out now (aside from the rawness of Acrobatic Tenement), but no regrets at all. Only negative is that some have said "ATDI single-handedly saved the emo genre"... ... ... which is obviously a negative thing... and a bold faced lie... not an emo band alive with this kind of intensity.
why did i have to be young to understand good music. ATDI was one hell of a band. i forget where i saw these but relationship of command was in the top 25 or 50 best rock albums to come out in the past 10 or 20 years.. i might be wrong.
if this is 1997 or later omar should be on guitar, if its 96 he should be on bass, before that they used kenny hooper and jarret wren, usually i can tell which one's omar because of big hair, glasses, and spazzy dancin with cedric, but everyone's dancin in this one, and omar doesnt have his hair or glasses yet...
@afcblandi is omar even in this? i always thought this was their show at their high school in 1994 that wikipedia talks about, but omar didnt join until later, that could be their original guitarist, i mean its hard to tell without the ridiculous afro and glasses
Yeah I'm a mars volta expert, mkay? and atdi too. mkay? so i know that. lright? mkay? it just has to do with what year this video is in, alright, mkay? haha sorry, i watch too much south park.
someone said this was in october 8th 1998...i know that the bassist and drummer in this video didn't join until 1997...so that information is likely to be more or less accurate
@joepbailey - the guys must have been only just breaking into huge popularity with relationship of command then :o... i thought they sounded proffesional after acrobatic tenement! ohh well... thats weird, they must have been tiny and like my age when they recorded hell paso? and umm asee lake? and that other one i have... alfro reg areea? lol totally spelled wrong, cant find my ipod atm!
I was out this show - Knapsack and The Juliana Theory also played. Small school house in Greensburg. Live performances don't get any more electrifying than this.
is that place still put on shows? i live in uniontown, and the only place we had for shows got shut down by the cops cause some asshole killed himself on his motorcycle outside
@faketrain Wow i thought this was at their high school or something, I didn't think it was a tour show. good info if only they were still around, one of top 5 favorite bands ever
i wish i randomly went to a show and saw a band this amazing....does this just happen out of the blue to anyone? i need to starts going to more shows actually...
Agreed. I love TMV too. Who could bag At The Drive-In?.... Seriously. They went off this hard for what looks to be a class room, it shows they actually loved to play. And still do! Ha
amazing. best fucking era of them. in casino out is one of my favorite albums. i tried to see them on the last tour but i was too young to get in the club at the time (17). wish i knew about this when it was happening. i would have been 13/14. crazy to think of how much really does change in a decade. not a hug volta/sparta fan. excited to hear that omar/zach hill project though. this stuff will always be my favorite.
