  • People in the crowd are like... WTF?

  • I dont always watch ATD-I live videos, but when I do, this is the one I prefer.

  • Fucking old school ATDI right here.

  • this is the best youtube post of all time.

  • Chanbara intro is killing.

  • awesome

  • The drummer and bass player are much too unappreciated and the other guitarist too. Great band, it's too bad Cedric and Omar receive all the notoriety.

  • @moralyson actually in an interview they said they had wrote all of the music for this album, if not a majority. cedric always played drums from a long time before and incorporated ideas through tonys style. all albums are credited with all of them writing but i know all of them except were more of multi instrumentalist . their all appreciating in this band though, they all fit in together, all of them from very different background, truly a cultural musical experience was born

  • @moralyson because they are the only ones with TALENT!!!!

  • Funny seeing Cedric like this, looks so different.

  • @stratocaster1986able

    looks the same now...

  • i love the part where it goes AAAH

  • love how everyone is just standing cause they don't what the fuck they just got hit by! It's called ROCK AND FUCKING ROLL

  • For every Ounce of credit The MArs volta gets, ATDI should get 2.

  • Way better than the Marsv Volta. For every onze of credit TMV gets, ATDI should get 2

  • I saw them last saturday at the neon desert festival!<3

  • damn they are so young

  • they look like some teenage ATDI wannabe band :)

  • I have never seem people 'feel' the music like these guys they were and are the best! But I always wonder to myself "can Omar be playing guitar when he's jumping around like that???" LOL :P Anyway, this vid is madness and it is so awesome!

  • i demand more! where is the rest of initiation?

  • One word...ENERGY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @zume2600 this is it, i like them because of this energy. Other bands too, but i see no band which got this energy, now

  • RUN AND GET YOUR QUARTERS IN!

  • I DONT EVEN RECOGNIZE THEM O.O i thought this was a cover band at first, cuz omar is so young and cedric without hair

  • 4:46 - 4:51 best dance move ever

  • awesome kick that omar does at 2:45

  • Man i wish they would just get back together for a tour. i would give anything to see this band live

  • GET BACK TOGETHER

  • THis is very old. LOL showed how much they changed.

  • im skeptical of mars volta, but back in the atdi days they seemed pretty sincere but just having a fucking blast

  • @superdude593 Can't say to much for mars. IDK... and sparta. Never was a fan. Sorry. All will be a fan of ATDI

  • It's really really fuxking weird to see cedric minus the crazy hair

  • did cedric comb his hair?

  • @bobngo10 What hair? Haha, I joke. =]

  • WIDOWS AN ANTIQUE REPLACEMENT A BRIEFCASE FILLED WITH MAIZE

  • ha! i love how the drummer has to tighten his hi hats at 2:30

i have to do that after playing that hard for awhile, too. lollll.

  • The Mars Volta is my favorite band, and I never really got into ATDI, but this makes me want to...

  • @edumacation101 its definitely worth checking out man... I got into it heavily after deloused, sort of fell out now (aside from the rawness of Acrobatic Tenement), but no regrets at all. Only negative is that some have said "ATDI single-handedly saved the emo genre"... ... ... which is obviously a negative thing... and a bold faced lie... not an emo band alive with this kind of intensity.

  • everytime i come here to repost this video i end up sitting through at least 3 or 4 songs. I regret living in el paso and never seeing them live.

  • what a charismatic little sonofabitch... :) I bet he had a lot of energy in high school lol awesome show

  • Man reminds me of Bear Vs. Shark and Therefore I Am so much. Wish I could have seen the originals.

  • lol he jumped on the piano...

  • @nelson3300 haha and he was hitting the keys with his mic... classic.

  • why did i have to be young to understand good music. ATDI was one hell of a band. i forget where i saw these but relationship of command was in the top 25 or 50 best rock albums to come out in the past 10 or 20 years.. i might be wrong.

  • I like the mic thing he does at 2:15

  • lol alpha centauri

  • Saw them on this tour at Gilman in Berkeley....

  • Dude, this band was so sick. I loved them, and i still do.

  • Which is the first song?

  • "Alpha Centauri" off of the album "In Casino Out"

  • @mdadmawdm its alpha centauri

  • dude the way he moves hes like a fucking ninja on stage or something i fucking love this band

  • awesome

  • So fucking awesome man

  • ROFL cedrics ALL over the place. What-a-front-man

  • This music suits Cedric's vocals better than anything by The Mars Volta. And he has the choicest haircut.

  • ther two different bands

  • Huh?

  • They're playing stuff from In/Casino/Out so obviously this is from 98.

  • pretty sure its omar, 1998. thanks 4 postin metro! cool shit. ive loved this band 4ever but a just now checking their catalog. great great great...

  • thats a very young omar. omar is left handed and so is the guy in the video on the left. *notice the left handed guitar :)

  • @azucena4evr and it's a squire super sonic which was what Omar used, although I wonder what ever happened to it?

  • @azucena4evr

im pretty sure that is omar

  • this is classic lineup

  • best band ever

  • if this is 1997 or later omar should be on guitar, if its 96 he should be on bass, before that they used kenny hooper and jarret wren, usually i can tell which one's omar because of big hair, glasses, and spazzy dancin with cedric, but everyone's dancin in this one, and omar doesnt have his hair or glasses yet...

  • How fucking badass is this shit!?

  • That's fury

  • Cuanta fuerza!

    por dios!

    :D

  • Check dem haircuts lol

  • i absolutely love the fact that in the mist of Omar doing his usual mentalism, he gentally and carefully buts the box down. Oh yes!

  • @afcblandi That's a virgo for you ;)

  • @afcblandi is omar even in this? i always thought this was their show at their high school in 1994 that wikipedia talks about, but omar didnt join until later, that could be their original guitarist, i mean its hard to tell without the ridiculous afro and glasses

  • he's the guy on the left in the yellow shirt playing the jazzmaster. he was bassist in 1996, then switched to guitar after their first LP

  • Yeah I'm a mars volta expert, mkay? and atdi too. mkay? so i know that. lright? mkay? it just has to do with what year this video is in, alright, mkay? haha sorry, i watch too much south park.

  • someone said this was in october 8th 1998...i know that the bassist and drummer in this video didn't join until 1997...so that information is likely to be more or less accurate

  • cedric looks weirder without the curly hair

  • this must have been the coolest thing ever. i love in/casino/out. great post.

  • fuck the Tool discussion. Its irrelevant.

    This video is fucking awesome

  • omg omar has his squier supersonic :o

  • Just if you didn't know..

    1: Alpha Centuri..

    2:Chanbara ..

    3:Hullahoop Wounds...

should put it on the info section innit.

Must have been the In/Casino/Out tour... 97/98 mayybe.... good post!

  • @joepbailey - the guys must have been only just breaking into huge popularity with relationship of command then :o... i thought they sounded proffesional after acrobatic tenement! ohh well... thats weird, they must have been tiny and like my age when they recorded hell paso? and umm asee lake? and that other one i have... alfro reg areea? lol totally spelled wrong, cant find my ipod atm!

  • @joepbailey Indeed this was!

  • Hah, typical Tool fans.

  • if only i was born ten years earlier :(

  • How OLD is this?? Way before Cedrics and Omars fros =o

  • wish the quality was just a bit better, but still a good post.

  • I was out this show - Knapsack and The Juliana Theory also played. Small school house in Greensburg. Live performances don't get any more electrifying than this.

  • lol tool...the name says it all. they just stand there looking like the retarded version of the jesus and mary chain, minus that band's amazing music

  • cmon, man everyone knows tool ripped off slint

  • Hahahaha. Slint never even came close to the complexity of Tool. It's too bad you're not smart enough to see how stupid you are.

  • lol. wow dude, just wow

  • You don't like Tool? You don't LOVE Tool?

  • You're an idiot. Tool is the greatest band ever. Congrats on having no taste.

  • I agree. Tool pwns all.

  • man i saw tool and all maynard james keenan did was curl up behind the drum set and sing, electrifying my ass

  • is that place still put on shows? i live in uniontown, and the only place we had for shows got shut down by the cops cause some asshole killed himself on his motorcycle outside

  • @faketrain I would Pay Big Money in order 2 see this Live.

  • @faketrain Wow i thought this was at their high school or something, I didn't think it was a tour show. good info if only they were still around, one of top 5 favorite bands ever

  • i wish i randomly went to a show and saw a band this amazing....does this just happen out of the blue to anyone? i need to starts going to more shows actually...

  • @stop08it It happened to me when I saw Bear vs. Shark live by accident 6 months before they broke up.

  • what song is at 6:00?!

  • Hulahoop wounds. lol at Jim laughing at Cedric's monkey antics at around 1:15.

  • Hulahoop Wounds

  • im almost positive drugs has influenced his awesome dance moves haha

  • Its amazing how Bixlers hair is SOOO short but the stage antics r the same. At The Drive-IN 4ever MAN, At The Drive-IN 4ever.

  • Widows!!!

  • insparational

  • call you back after every show

  • This is amazing. in/casino/out is by far my favorite stuff from them.

  • lol he was'nt afro an litlle fat

    btw he still sexy =)

  • AYACHUCAAAAA

  • god I love this band

and, lmfao at the way jim looks at cedric when he climbs up on that shelf behind him

  • that shelf is called piano :D

  • Cedric was batshit crazy! I love it!

  • correction: is

  • True. It's not like he's changed much. xD

  • nostalgia =/

  • Wow Cedric without an afro.

  • Probably some of the most successful musicians in indie music.

  • Alpha Centauri is such a badass song

  • dam, i envy these guys

  • dont we all..

the way they rock out.. and their ability to express themselves thru such great music

  • this is definitely at the drive in because it says at the drive in on the roadcase under omar's amp

  • Does anyone know what songs these are? I've only heard like 6 ATDI songs.

  • get in casino out

  • Thanks.

  • Cedric almost looks like a regular, upstanding member of society without the afro.

  • No fro?!

  • what im wondering?

  • lol cedric and omar...

  • simply epic

  • I'm so jealous of every wallflower in that room I would have definitely rocked out so f***in hard I would have had an aneurysm!!

  • haha is that really cedric?! it looks like he's got a conk.

  • is that cedric? jajaja

  • one of the greatest bands ever, they are so underrated by the mars volta fans.... i love tmv...but if your gonna bag atdi.....go fuck yourself....

  • haha, ATDI is more respected by sparta fans

  • Agreed. I love TMV too. Who could bag At The Drive-In?.... Seriously. They went off this hard for what looks to be a class room, it shows they actually loved to play. And still do! Ha

  • increible este video!

  • so amazing

  • Cedric Bixler-Zavala, undisputed master of climbing tall shit.

  • hahaha, i actually laughed out loud at that :D. touche man

  • To bad they never played with SNFU. That would have been the most energetic night ever .

  • holy shit! wheres the fro, man?!

  • wow....where are the afros?

no i'm not one of those people who are obsessed with stuff off RoC,its just that i've never seen any pictures/live footage of them before 1999

  • alpha centauri ftw :p

  • This is amazing. Genius at work. Those people had no the history they were watching.

  • TMV kills like no other...but ATDI was ok..I prefer TMV though.

  • AWESOME

  • amazing. best fucking era of them. in casino out is one of my favorite albums. i tried to see them on the last tour but i was too young to get in the club at the time (17). wish i knew about this when it was happening. i would have been 13/14. crazy to think of how much really does change in a decade. not a hug volta/sparta fan. excited to hear that omar/zach hill project though. this stuff will always be my favorite.

  • zach hill and omar... perfecto!

  • this is classic ATD way back in the day-what nice guys- and such energy

  • IM SORRY!!!

  • that is ATD, so shut the fuck up.

  • wow!theres a fucking energie beteween the music which can't describe.if you don't feel this,if you just want to talk about the music...Im sorry with you

  • seriously? i mean honestly!?

  • mate it does

the only similarity is that they have "omar" being left handed

and "cedric" begining (if anything) to do his crazy stage antics

    thats it

    backing vocals

    same as the song

  • This is definitley at the drive-in... If you don't think thats Omar and Cedric atleast look at Jim, Tony, and most obviously Paul on bass. Its clearly pre-afro at the drive-in period

  • yeah i see it in Paul

    but im sorry

    im having difficulty

    I AM BLIND!!

    SHOW ME THE TRUTH!!!

  • this is funny to me. i think it's because you must be younger than 25(at least). am i right? i don't mean that in a rude way. it's just if you saw the show you would know what they look like- not just the atdi from Vaya on. i am dating my self. i'm 31. they were so refreshing in '97-'99

  • yes im sorry for what i said (like i said before)

it just took a bit for me to see it

i am only 16 but i have been listening to them since i was 13 (so im nto to new to them)

it just....they seem so different then

are you sayin by me being younger then i wouldnt know the older them?

  • no.(i really mean no offence) i was just saying if you were there, you'd recognize them as is. it's obvious to someone who saw the show that year. i'm 31 :0 twice your age. as far as the older them??? like vaya and on --that's a different generation and sound. when they started playing stadiums & stuff. you might know that atdi better than i -because i didn't love their later stuff. i just remember them playing on a tennis court, at a coffee house, a music store and a couple of clubs. glorydays.

  • well ive grown up in the snowy north just outside Toronto

so i dont really get to see any bands other than when i go to Toronto

  • you are so lucky!!!!!!

  • whos lucky?

  • the guy who taped it?

  • I envy the fact that you were of age to even be AWARE of At The Drive-In.... =/ Once I knew what music was and appreciated it, it was too late. The end of At the Drive-In was already showing so I didn't get to even see them.

  • Ahhh...Cedric. He's fucking crazy...

  • ohhh god, pre afro days

  • Wow! That really is old....

  • casino in/out so good

  • Wait, I didn't mean '94. That was a typo.

    More like... '98 or '99?

  • I saw them around that timeframe and they already had afros. So maybe a tiny bit before '99.

  • You saw them live? Lucky. >_>

  • Jesus, this must have been sometime in '94.

  • 98 the In casino Out tour I believe

  • Man, I wish I knew who AtDI were back in '98.

  • so intense. pre afros???!

  • they look so young too! at the end I.N.I.T.I.A.T.I.O.N. his vioce sounds so little compared to what its become now

    great vid!

  • cedric climbing on shit since the beggening lmao
