The Latin American spanish accent came before the lisp in Spain, that's why it's non-existent. The Spanish they speak there is more like the Spanish they spoke in Spain before. Same with American English, it is actually more conserved mainly because of the Anglofication of the USA, they established strict rules around English. It unified the country so it was worth it, but it doesn't change the fact that it's more related to the "real spanish".

In the caribbean coast of some central american countries and caribbean islands the "S" is not pronounced at the end of a word and when it is in the middle of a word is aspirated as an "H" or " J" In Spain they pronounce the S gay as hell, in Puerto rico the R is sometimes replace by an L sound

I think the "lisp" sound only happens when it's a c or a z, not an s. So "si" in castillian spanish should still be pronounced with a normal s. Only the ce in Barcelona should have a lisp. But I think that sounds sexier than latin american spanish =P
