However, now to brag, my clan played in various CAL tournaments (before it died), and won 8 out of 13 matches we were in. @irGlitch Read a couple pages of comments, I'm tired of explaining that the entire video was recorded in low-grav since it's more entertaining to just lay back and watch, compared to intense bunny-hopping and strafing in normal grav like in any CAL match.
Non-existent, since the Team Bio clan has completely disbanded as of about two years ago. I know that some of the members merged into [b-M-x], which was a more competitive but still friendly team to members and rivals alike. I'm not even sure if [b-M-x] is still around as a full-fledged clan. Today I play Team Fortress 2 on the nomx3 server and L4D2 with friends.

I've played in SOCAL servers, I've been in the CAL league, I've played clan matches (11/13 were victories), and I know plenty about bullet dodging and strafe jumping. This video is simply for fun, it's meant to entertain you and maybe get you to laugh. It's low-grav since it's easier to make a video of.
A grav-nade is the action of right clicking a grenade, then switching (with a rebound key, usually F) to the gravity gun, right-clicking to hover the nade, count down the timer in your head and fire to detonate the nade by an enemy. It's a rather standard way to fight, but it's very overpowered.
As energy orbs are a one-hit-kill weapon, when spammed they can be considered newbish compared to old fashioned bullets.
The noobish part comes from low-grav giving extra time to aim.

You should definitely see HL2DM in the My Games tab. If it isn't in there, it means whatever account he is signed into Steam doesn't own that game. All titles are locked to individual accounts. You may need to go to the Store tab, and purchase HL2DM again if it's a different account, the game is only $5. You can also get the game free if you have an NVidia or ATI Graphics card, just search "free half life 2 dm nvidia" or "half life 2 dm ati", first forum post. Double click it in My Games.
One of my friends have a problem with steam ... we wanted to play Half-life 2 Deathmatch ... when he installed Steam the Half-life wasnt in the "My Games " ... he added it but it dont start to update ... he wanted to download a map for the game but to run the map it needs to be in the folder >>> C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\User\half-life 2 deathmatch\hl2mp\maps ... and when he install the Steam ... the folder isn't there ... Sorry for my bad english ...
Open Steam, double click HL2DM, it will take a couple hours to download the game and install. That folder path is correct, all maps go into the maps folder. You need internet the first time you run hl2dm, make sure it isn't blocked by a firewall. Steam will automatically download the update, which takes like 10 minutes, then run the game. Join any server with a non-stock map, and the maps folder will be created. If it isn't, just create the folder yourself and drag the maps in.

These are the weapons that make for fast kills. The Magnum is a one hit kill for a headshot and two-shot kill for body shots. The crossbow one-hits on unarmored targets, and explosive barrels and gravity grenades are one hit kills. As far as statistics go, about 20% of my kills were with the SMG (Spawn default), however circle-strafing doesn't work well for a video like this. I also heavily use the shotgun (15%), but again, it wouldn't make for exciting footage since its slower.
You are extremely good at this game, especially with the gravity gun and the revolover, although you are kind of a whore with the crossbow. But still, I, one of the best half life 2 and most DEDICATED players, could probably be beaten by you.
Thanks for the compliment, back when I played I put countless hours into our server; I think somewhere around 6 hours a day of playing and policing in it. A friend encouraged me to hop on again to get back into HL2DM, and after getting first five matches in a row I decided not to continue. I was always horrible at 1vs1 matches, as I manipulate confusion between players and environment better than I manage health and ammo. It's good to hear there are still others keeping it alive.
From what I know, the HL2DM community is dead. There are still a few clans that are active and many low-population independent servers, but the game will never be in its heyday again. Right now the FPS games for PC with the most active communities are TF2, Left 4 Dead (2 comes out in November), and Insurgency.
Not entirely true. Although the heyday of this game has passed it is still seeing quite a bit of activity. It is indeed dead in the USA with the ending of the CAL league but in europe the clans united league is still going strong with many clans competing!

I used FRAPs to extract the video, Virtual Dub to cut it down, and compiled it in iMovie. If I were to do it today, I would use the source engine's demoui function. It's a built in game recorder that essentially plays back the entire game, lets you fast forward or rewind, and you can export selections of footage directly to AVI. The recorded demos are super small, and don't slow your computer like fraps.
Search "ausgamers demoui" on google, first result will tell you everything.
I'm in the process of making my next video, but it's turning out to be extremely time consuming. It's from footage of the game Tribes 2, one of the most hardcore FPS games every made (back in the day there were 96 vs 96 CTF matches)
However getting my footage ready is tough, I have to extract each frame as a PNG, so just 30 minutes of footage results in 50,000 pictures. Just extracting a video takes about a day per 15 minutes of footage, of which only about 12 seconds is used. Here's to hoping!

The laser mine is called the S.L.A.M. and is the newbie weapon for people who can't fight. Select the S.L.A.M., walk up to a wall, and left click to deploy the mine. It is better to crouch and deploy the mine low on a wall, or place it around small corners so people won't see it coming (since they can blow it up from a distance or jump over it).

@RandomGamer08: Sorry, seems like Team Bio doesn't exist anymore, the clan has merged into b-M-x (Bio Maniacs Xtreme) which still has quite a few of the members. They run a low-grav server in the tradition of Team Bio, located at: 8.6.3.213:27015 named [b-M-x] [Low Grav]Fast Download.
Can't say how many people are in that server or if it is even still fun, but if you still want to try out the same experience it would be there.
I've been playin for a while, but i've never seen the maps you played. I've seen overwtach, runoff, and of course the puzzle maps but not te others. What are they?
This is a compilation of the most entertaining kills I gathered over twelve days. Though no player in Team Bio could be called the absolute best, Solidus Blood and Grenadolf Hitler could easily beat me in 1vs1 matches, and I could often win a major 1st place finish in large player matches (I can exploit confusion and the environment better than I can manage health/armor)
Hope b-M-x is going well, though I'm done with Half Life DM for now. Have fun, the players in Team Bio (Now b-M-x) are great.

Besides, this video is meant to be fun to watch, not some rant bragging about how skilled I am. Also, have you personally played against these players and are able to call them newbies (beginners).
To do the gravity nade trick, you must first hotkey your gravity gun to a key (like "F"). Then ingame, select the grenade weapon, and right click (toss) instead of left clicking (throw). Quickly hit your hotkey and right click, you will pick up the nade.
Then count in your head the time until the grenade blows up, and fire it by judging the distance and speed in your brain.
I don't play Half Life 2 DM anymore, its no longer interesting to me. I'm currently playing Team Fortress 2 and waiting for Valve Software's Left 4 Dead as the next game I'll get into.
I prefer not to use their video recording software. The main reason is that it kills my FPS while playing. Normally at 120fps, it drops to 25 on WeGame, and 45 on FRAPS. FRAPS (recording) Virtual Dub (Edits FRAPS) and iMovie were used to make this.
you are really good, much better then me, but one thing of advise...if you shoot the back of an orb with the gravity gun it goes much faster. Also what your steam id?
I'm well aware of speeding up 'gravity orbs' in HL2DM, however I haven't played in about 2 months now - just lost the thrill. I'm mainly on Mac now, but if I'm ever on Windows it's to play games with the account QuackMasterDan.

I still play DM, just not as often as I used to. Sometimes I play in the SoCAL 1 server for fun. However it's unlikely you'll see me since I've gotten so involve in other activities (website development and mountain-biking) Either way, continue to rampage on the servers. =D

Wow, thats practically an insult to yourself. I'm a huge fan of Halo 1 & 3, and theyve got a more strategic pace. If you want something fast, go play Unreal Tournament or Quake 3, some of the founding fathers of FPS games.

@RandomGamer08: Sorry, seems like Team Bio doesn't exist anymore, the clan has merged into b-M-x (Bio Maniacs Xtreme) which still has quite a few of the members. They run a low-grav server in the tradition of Team Bio, located at: 8.6.3.213:27015 named [b-M-x] [Low Grav]Fast Download.
Can't say how many people are in that server or if it is even still fun, but if you still want to try out the same experience it would be there.

This is a compilation of the most entertaining kills I gathered over twelve days. Though no player in Team Bio could be called the absolute best, Solidus Blood and Grenadolf Hitler could easily beat me in 1vs1 matches, and I could often win a major 1st place finish in large player matches (I can exploit confusion and the environment better than I can manage health/armor)
Hope b-M-x is going well, though I'm done with Half Life DM for now. Have fun, the players in Team Bio (Now b-M-x) are great.

Besides, this video is meant to be fun to watch, not some rant bragging about how skilled I am. Also, have you personally played against these players and are able to call them newbies (beginners).

How in the hell can you use the grav gun to grab a nade??? I really find it hard to do....

To do the gravity nade trick, you must first hotkey your gravity gun to a key (like "F"). Then ingame, select the grenade weapon, and right click (toss) instead of left clicking (throw). Quickly hit your hotkey and right click, you will pick up the nade.
Then count in your head the time until the grenade blows up, and fire it by judging the distance and speed in your brain.

I prefer not to use their video recording software. The main reason is that it kills my FPS while playing. Normally at 120fps, it drops to 25 on WeGame, and 45 on FRAPS. FRAPS (recording) Virtual Dub (Edits FRAPS) and iMovie were used to make this.

I'm well aware of speeding up 'gravity orbs' in HL2DM, however I haven't played in about 2 months now - just lost the thrill. I'm mainly on Mac now, but if I'm ever on Windows it's to play games with the account QuackMasterDan.

I still play DM, just not as often as I used to. Sometimes I play in the SoCAL 1 server for fun. However it's unlikely you'll see me since I've gotten so involve in other activities (website development and mountain-biking) Either way, continue to rampage on the servers. =D

Wow, thats practically an insult to yourself. I'm a huge fan of Halo 1 & 3, and theyve got a more strategic pace. If you want something fast, go play Unreal Tournament or Quake 3, some of the founding fathers of FPS games.
