Figure skating is an art. Yeah, it's a sport, all right, but before that, it's ART. The two ladies talking in Korean are stupid..They were talking about how Yu-Na Kim made really "clear" moves. Why are people searching for techniques and not artistry? I say Mao Asada is more creative and artistic than Yu Na Kim..and I'm not just saying this. I'm not Japanese either..I'm Korean. Asada's performances are very touching unlike Kim's technical show-offs
In my opinion,, I think Kim is the one with the artistry and technical supports. Yu-Na proved that at the Worlds. Mao Asada, she is good at figure skating but lack of artistry, I think she is more like technical show-off.
Okay, fine, she's artistic in a way, but my definition of artistry is closer to creativity. You should watch Mao Asada's more recent performances..especially the one with a dog..it was amazing
I was writing from the perspective of art. And just to make myself clear, I am not jealous of her. Yu Na Kim is amazing in her own way; however her styles are just not fit to my taste. And see, you just said "i never heard korean comment like u" This just tells me that I should compliment her just because she's Korean. This, in my opinion, is a form of racial stereotype. Just bcuz u can type Korean doesnt make u one, and I don't think u are...>.< And I personally find Yu na much more creative than Asada. You should watch the premiere in Japan, Mao does some boring Asian music while Yuna dances to Gwen Stefani. It was fun to watch, she's amazing. But now, on Mao's programs, all I see is her jumps.
I like her SP last season but LP, dissappointed. No choreagraphy, all you can see is jumps and spins. The movement of body, and expressing music also can fit into the artistry, like you said figure skating is an art. That's why I like figure skating, I am not watching figure skating for jumps, I want to see and feel the movements of skaters. You know Yu-Na is creative too, I think. Kim and her former Coach collaborated and choregraphed the programs in 05,06. Ben, and One day I'll fly away.
her jumps, although great look a bit funny, almost like its to tightly held together, still needs work...either way, take a good look, next generation of great skaters in the world
