The thing about the substitute rappers is, Del is right on top of the beat reinforcing it- the substitute rappers are laggy as hell, they're not driving the beat at all.

I have no problem with wanting fresh rappers and raps, it would just be nice if they were on the same beat as the song. Del didn't have a problem doing that. Maybe sometimes they have better rappers (or at least rappers who can drive the beat harder, these guys might be better in other ways I'm not aware of)

Del's rap version is not often used in fact, they have used his pre-recorded voice before, but the fans didn't like it. Gorillaz always invited other rappers to make their lines on Del's ones like Phi-Life Cypher, Bashy & Kano (this guys), Snoop Dogg, Tinie Tempah, etc. In fact, Bashy took lyrics from his song "Fantasy" and Kano took lyrics from his song "Bassment" (featuring Damon Albarn).

So stop complaining and just enjoy the music!
