I'm not a member of PETA or a right-winger. I volunteer at a wildlife hospital that specializes in aquatic birds. Many of my patients are Brown Pelicans, so I do know something about them about them.
Yes, humans have destroyed wildlife habitats. The answer is to work to restore wetlands (and other habitats). You can get involved in rescuing wildlife and saving habitats, as I have, if you really care about wildlife. Youll have to clean up your language if you want to be taken seriously.
One should not feed pelicans as this habituates them to humans. These birds can be so trusting, and they have been harmed by people. Last year in SoCal, 12 brown pelicans had their wings broken and they washed up on the beach. They were rushed to IBRRC but it was too late-- all of them died a painful death.
We never hand feed these birds, as we want them to remain wild. Also, they need to learn to dive for their fish.
If you love wildlife, why not volunteer at a wildlife rehab center?

"Some of the pelicans on the pier rely on being fed because the lack the skill or ablility to feed themselves."
Then why encourage people to feed them?
