This wasn't just a cop retiring it was an inspector. Anyone in uniform should be respected for putting the time in and their life on the line and if the least we can do is to take a detour to allow the uniforms to honor a retiring member, I think it is a small price to pay, for me personally as a New Yorker, a member of the legal community and as the son of a member of service.

Mike Lau is a true gentleman the NYPD's loss. He was the cream of the crop it's a true testiment that NYPD has retention issues that are truly hurting the city allowing experienced "cops" to retire giving no incentive to stay on past 20.
