There's much said about the "meanness" of the "Idol" judges, particularly Cowell. Cowell's a "jerk" but he is usually accurate. What I don't understand is why these poor pathetic people are allowed to audition on tv. During the off season, many talented people travel 100s of miles to audition but they aren't given a chance for exposure on tv. Is this done simply for ratings?
