I wish someone would get a video of my brother and I when we sing this song. I think we do good with it. I just wish someone else would agree with me.
why the hell would such a great band like the mavericks ever break up? well probably egos all over the place; that is the problem , lots of idiots in the music world'' such a shame these guys are not still making fine music. today,s country really sucks hard'' all these wanna be garth brook morons
I've been fortunate enough to see them a few times in person and even met the guys one night a few years back at the Omni Hotel in Austin, Texas. Raul is very arrogant and when we saw her at the Beacon Theater performance in NYC he was obnoxious and rude; it sort of put a bummer on the performance which, btw, was so loud I thought I'd blown my ear drums for good. Really loved the band at it peak though. Thanks for this post. ;)
The combination of those pounding drums, Raul's silky, sensual voice and that ringing Rickenbacher is an instant hook. No wonder people like this band so much. Where are they now, when "country music" needs talented musicians/singers/songwriters?
What happened to the Mavericks?! They were one of the only country bands that I really liked and then they just kinda disappeared! What a crying shame!
yeah, so do I..., what happened? for a while there, I was a fan of radio country, cause I tuned in one day and it seemed like they had a clue... now , you can find the authentic stuff out there, but it has nothing to do with the ACM or Taylor Swift.
I saw this years ago on a country & westen channel in uk . i liked so much of the music on that channel & i wondered why more of this music was,t more popular. Another song i liked was of a Black man walking in a corn field singing satisfaction
guaranteed, what he had growned with his own hands.sorry i,m going on a bit!
Saw the Mavericks in concert in the mid-90's, in Grand Forks ND. The opening act was Junior Brown. It don' get no better than that. Best concert I'd ever been to.
Used to see these guys at Tobacco Road in downtown Miami...a Cuban country band....seemed weird at the time but we know Raul's love of Elvis and Roy Orbison. Wish the Mav's had stayed together but we know how strange it got in Nashville when they got the big record contract...if I were still making movies I'd do that story....Jamie Fox as Raul Malo....think about it....lol....
This is the song that started my love affair with the Mavericks. In an era when so much country music was sounding like pop music, this was something different....a nod to a different era with just enough modern elements thrown in to appeal to all kinds of audiences. Raul and the guys sure knew how to deliver a unique sound!
Abso LUV THIS! av followed MAV's 4 ages, av luved their music & av sin them live on many occasions! Raul's voice is THE BIZ - but am concerned if it is true that he no longer communicates with ex Mav's!!! Robert Reynolds - in particular, PLUS, others RATED Maulo as No 1 can't believe he wud turn is bak on REAL friends !!
I really miss these guys. In a 2007 interview (posted on youtube), Raul stated that he doesn't even keep in touch with the other members. Whatever the reasons, it's a "cryin' shame."
Raul malo has sheer talent, unmatched by todays standards by far, he needs to realease a new, personal recording. This brother has the skill. Kinda crazy considering the band is cuban.( i could be wrong)
The singer's voice and style of this song reminds me of Roy Orbison!
