  • thank you, Nllson for the great job..I hope that we did justice to your work.. "Lonesome Whistle" is one of Jimmie Davis' 730 BMI titles, co-written with Hank Williams (Sr)...

Mike Shepherd, Executive Director, The Louisian Music Hall Of Fame

  • Recording with Jimmie Davis was one of the most exciting things I've done in my musical career. Gov. Davis recounted some interesting experiences to us while we recorded this song. He invited me to his home right prior to his death and played a song for me he recorded entitled "Lonestome Whistle Blow," which Hank Williams had recorded years earlier. I told him "I see you recorded one of Hank's songs," to which he promptly replied.."No, Hank recorded MY song." It was a song HE had written!

  • I remember in 1992 CBS had a special on the country music hall of fame & Gov. Jimmie Davis did the same song with Kenny Rogers & his backup singers were the other fellow country music hall of famers. I wonder can anyone find that clip & would the please be kind enough to post it that's possible thank you for posting this.
