The young boy committed crimes and he deserved to be in jail. HOWEVER, the conditions that he and other people endured as a direct result of the govt's inability and often unwillingness to help, constitutes cruel and unusual punishment, which is illegal. No human being should be forced to stand for days in contaminated water without food or anything to drink, facing drowning. This is America, we can do better than that.
i feel like her excuse for her son committing crime is "boys will be boys" ...there is absolutely no excuse for that...my parents would have beat me if did anything close to what her son did...but the Katrina situation sucked...gov had nothing prepared..
I hope your baby rethinks his life. He needs to dig deep and decide what path he wants to take. I hope his experience puts him on the right path.
