Actually you can come here and have it paid for by your own health care system. Happens all the time. And the average American may have insurance, but not necessarily insurance that pays without fighting every step of the way. Even on infant mortality the U.S. is way behind.
And BTW, the biggest difference is we in the U.S. pay MUCH higher rates for inferior health care than you do in Canada. In 2006, per-capita spending for health care in Canada was US$3,678. In the U.S. it was US$6,714. In fact we in the U.S. paid more in TAXES for health care than Canada, yet ALL health care in Canada is paid through taxes while in the U.S. we ALSO have to pay insurance premiums.

I listened to Rush today. He said he plans to leave this country and immigrate to Paraguay or Uruguay. He suggested that all of hte conservatives move down there with him so that they could start a country with real conservative values. He thinks that if they get a critical mass number, the Uruguayans will be grateful for having hard working Americans in theiri country. I think it's a very good idea. I think America is "done" and a waste of time. We can do better as conservatives on our own!

I don't have the inclination to look up these stats but I would think our diets would be healthier. There isn't a substitute for being healthier.

And, yeah, I do understand business. Gas America bought a portion of Gas barn's opperation a few years back.. sold because the owner didn't want to manage the number of stores owned at the time. GB was making sick profit, paying their employees well and competing well doing it. GA moved in, slashed pay across the board. Management pay for staff remaining was cut 40 pct. Hourlys were cut from 11-12 down to 7-8 an hour. GB was making profit and doing right by their people. Ethics.
Ok, one more point/idea - perhaps it's time to say that if you want to avoid the US market and produce overseas, then come back here for US profits, no more business license in the US. And, if you're making millions and your staff is in poverty - left to the public to try and take care of with programs, perhaps it's also time for you to lose your license to operate. That would solve a lot of problems fast.
Lastly, we're not the world market. We're the US market. We decide who has access to our marketplace and on what basis. The rules are set down in the constitution. My uncle moved to America from Finland over 10 years ago and is now living there. He has said numerous times that although a plane ticket from US to Finland costs 1000$, he'd rather pay that and go to a Finnish hospital than go to a doctor in America because of the very high costs in US.

@mcquestion So true I live in New Zealand and called my GP to get a appointment not olny did I get one for the same day but it cost me $27USD for the appointment and my prescrition $2USD now I will be honest and say that I have never been to the doctors in the US from what I have heard and read that would be very hard to get over there.

In the U.S. it was US$6,714. In fact we in the U.S. paid more in TAXES for health care than Canada, yet ALL health care in Canada is paid through taxes while in the U.S. we ALSO have to pay insurance premiums.
The fact is we pay way too much and get way too little back in return.

I listened to Rush today. He said he plans to leave this country and immigrate to Paraguay or Uruguay. He suggested that all of hte conservatives move down there with him so that they could start a country with real conservative values. He thinks that if they get a critical mass number, the Uruguayans will be grateful for having hard working Americans in theiri country. I think it's a very good idea. As I have said before, when specific business owners/ceos are swimming in millions in profits, 10s or hundreds of millions, and their employees are largely all on government assistance, it's apparent that something needs to be done. Govt assistance should be a RARE thing if not non-existent in this nation. It shouldn't be needed. In a nation as wealthy as this one, it's shameful. So instead of constructing stramen or arguing points you'd rather I had made instead of ones I did....

And, yeah, I do understand business. Gas America bought a portion of Gas barn's opperation a few years back.. sold because the owner didn't want to manage the number of stores owned at the time. GB was making sick profit, paying their employees well and competing well doing it. GA moved in, slashed pay across the board. Management pay for staff remaining was cut 40 pct. Hourlys were cut from 11-12 down to 7-8 an hour. GB was making profit and doing right by their people. Ethics.

Ok, one more point/idea - perhaps it's time to say that if you want to avoid the US market and produce overseas, then come back here for US profits, no more business license in the US. And, if you're making millions and your staff is in poverty - left to the public to try and take care of with programs, perhaps it's also time for you to lose your license to operate. The unions put the workers on an equal footing with the businesses and they look out for the workers. That is the design principle. To the extent that they fail to do that, they fail in general. Seperate issue - the unions. Hoffa was attacked by thugs hired by business to shut him down. Regular workers were beaten and killed to stop the unions. Prior to unions, we know the stories of truckers burning the backs of their hands to stay awake for days. Some still do that, btw. We know the history. My uncle moved to America from Finland over 10 years ago and is now living there. He has said numerous times that although a plane ticket from US to Finland costs 1000$, he'd rather pay that and go to a Finnish hospital than go to a doctor in America because of the very high costs in US.
And also, every single friend of mine I've told about the US healthcare system has either laughed or been shocked any country could allow anything so cruel to be the healthcare system.

Whatever reason is in your brain that you think health care is a constitutional right makes you as looney as Fat Albert Gore. The constitution was all about rugged individualism: NO entitlements. Go out & get what you want for yourself WITH ZERO RELIANCE on anyone but you. Its called rugged individualism. The only rights you get in the constitution are inalienable rights. Everything outside that, tuff.

@vintagevic1 I never said HC was a right. I believe it's a moral duty. Feel free to point out one post where I said HC is a constitutional right. I maintain that, like guns that shoot zillions of laser guided bullets in seconds, the founding fathers could not see the health care crisis coming. And the constitution did not, in fact, recognize black people as people. So it was clearly not a perfect document. We must take matters into our own hands with health care.

@mcquestion HC is a moral duty in the free market system where it belongs & is functioning fine ty. National HC will break the bank. Its just another massive tax that greedy dem legislators will raise on everyone, continue to skim off the top & give out the least amt of benefits, as all national hc globally does. 65% of the american ppl. dont want it: this is why dems are so scrood this Nov: you want over the peoples heads & dem legislators congratulated themselves: well theyre out for that.

Not enough scientists will come on board with the lie so now its cap & trade.

However after that as you know, your lib media decided to attack bush on the gulf war endlessly, lie about Bushs military record for which DAMN rather would get fired for trying to single handedly agendize the election with manipulation & lies. Bush had the world in his pocket and it wasn't until much much later, after many lies were exposed (the war would pay for itself, WMDs, greeted as liberators, etc.) that the media started to grow something of a spine. Dems love the news? Check out the Daily Show. They're constantly bashing both CNN and FOX.

They found weapons. Saddam should have been taken out when he torched the oil wells to begin with & Sr didnt finish the job as he said he would. Saddam sons tossing live people off rooftops, hmm yea he was a nice safe guy for the middle east.No he was properly taken out

Of COURSE the war was about WMDs and his so called ties to Bin Laden that didn't exist. There were no WMDs found. End of story. Show me one news article that says WMDs were found. The rationale for war was changed repeatedly by Bush as he required it to keep the war alive and his buddies in the industrial military complex and oil businesses in business.

Its money that makes the world go round not socialism. You would find an excuse per day to disrupt the flow of money into the economy.

Whoever you THINK you're describing, it's not me. Money is a necessary thing, but it's not my RELIGION. I want to see money flowing into the economy. Unfortunately, it's not. Corporations are taking their work and manufacturing overseas and putting average joes out of business. That's what I hate (and what you seem to love).
