  • From the movie Blood and Concrete with Billy Zane, Jennifer Beals, and Mark Pellegrino

  • Fuzz Townshend on drums?

  • I saw this tour 2 times in 3 days and he was GREAT solo, He put on a great show and all the songs on this album are great as well. wish he was still recording. this was back in 88? I just went last year to a beat reunion tour and the guy that they used to replace roger Sucked!

  • Ranking Roger was always the better half of English Beat / General Public. Rock on!

  • oh my days.. never knew about this video hahaha :D

  • This is Bart Daniels' song. Joey Turks' worst nightmare. Worst nightmare for anyone.

  • Roger Charlery is So Excited today because it's his Birthday!

  • wtf?

  • I love Roger but this promo video is AWFUL. Not his fault thought as 1988-1990 were a dark time for music and fashion.

  • I remember buying the LP in about 87 or 88 and thinking it was so much better than most of the music around at the time, but i don't think it sold that well.

This is the first time i've seen the video.

  • Roger was rockin' the old-skool Cosworth Sierra on the track...aces! Seeing this video made me go and unearth this CD. I remember listening to this thing on an endless loop in my car back in 1988 (driving much faster than I care to admit to my kids) along with General Public, Peter Murphy, Morrissey and D.M. God, those were some great times!

  • I just got Radical Departure in the mail today via Amazon. I forgot how good this solo release was. I didn't release it when it came out in 1988. The three General Public albums were awesome as well. I think I was anti English Beat associated artists then. I believe I was into hip hop at that time. Blah.

    Thanks again for posting this!

  • cool. I've had the album for years. I just received his 2001 album .inside my head.. I like it.

  • OMG, this was a hit in the UK- loved it -

    80's reborn again.Ciao

  • Love the vid - memories of the 80's - so cool- UK RULES

  • This is so cute!

  • i had to spend the summer overseas in seoul (olympics in 88) so i had to get it on cassette. w/o any new music or radio, i wore this tape out playing it back to front in my walkman... my soundtrack for an entire summer.

  • I have this album on vinyl, Time To Mek A Dime, killer, So Excited, great, Falling Down, awesome.... But, Mono Gone To Stereo is downright smashing!!!! I totally dig this album and vinyl can't be topped...

  • Ranking Roger, the English Beat, the Specials...Good times!!! I miss the eighties :(

  • Radical Departure is an incredible album. This song, and "Falling Down", and "Time To Mek A Dime"....great stuff.

  • I want that song 'Time to Mek a Dime'. I first heard it from a movie called 'Run'.

  • Agreed.

  • I thought i was the only one in the US that bought this album. Great to see the video.

  • There are better songs on the CD, but this is the most pop so I can see why they chose it for a video. I liked this CD, played it out to get over my lack of Beat/GP fix. Thanks for the post!

  • this was one of my favorite songs growing up...also Big Audio Dynamite's "Just Play Music."

  • I have this album on vinyl.

  • This song should have been huge. Very 80's.

  • Oh! man I had this album on cassette up until 2000` or so. I bought it for like .99 cents at a bargain bin in a McCrory`s store in Baltimore. It`s really really good. I think it broke or I just lost it.

  • I had the cassette too! The insert was green with his picture on it. Takes me back....

  • Radical Departure is such an awesome album. He's an underrated performer.

  • Am I the only one in here that thinks this RR video is a pathetic piece of work if I due say so.

I still like you RR tho, but damn dude.

  • So ADORABLE ! Damn - RR is HOT!!!

  • i know his daughter

  • Nothing wrong with this video; it fits right into the era. Beautiful Fender Mustang that guitar player has and I believe the bassist is Horace Panter (Specials, General Public). Thanks for the post JADTUBE!

  • HAHAHA to bad my dad wrote this song and he ran off with it b4 general public ended

  • is your dad really dave? thats sick. I saw the beat play seattle last year

  • OMG!! I love this song!!!!!!!

  • Great Song!

I think Dave Wakeling is in the credits for this song.

    This did bring back memories.

  • I remember Roger @ secondary school, Archbishop Williams Tile cross Birmingham England .Hi Roger From Mark Baker Miami.

  • Awesome. I have Roger's solo album on vinyl. Never knew any of the songs had videos.

  • My God, this take me back to the 11th grade! I know I have this on VHS myself from a show called "Post Modern MTV" I look at this and think of how late 1980's this feels in terms of colors, and style. Time to get out that "Hypercolor" T-shirt! Hehehe...

  • Great Song. Excellent Artist. Terrible Video. But I will watch it forever. Too Good to be Bad.

  • @ChannelSTA right there with you. I scheduled my nights around Post Modern MTV lol.
