  • OK I'm getting trouble with this, and thinking to whether I have made a big mistake spending this sort of money buying this product.

My aim when reading the limited amount of info on this product was to record TV program in HD

Upon setting up the box I can't get any channel, on Auto Scan

    Can anyone HELP

  • could you record your tv with this?

  • Does it support Freeview HD in watching and recording ? Also I would like to know if it's possible to copy the recorded programmes via USB and later codecs will allow to burn content on DVD?

  • @KasicaMarcin No, none of these Chinese devices support S2 or T2. Only normal Freeview. Wait for the units with a HD tuner. Freeview SD is like 13 years old now. The future will be HD.

  • hi guys! i'm thinking about buying one of these mainly for streaming my media from my pc upstairs to my living room. is that what it does?

  • I have a 2TB internal HD (partly) containing my extensive MP3 collection on this Cyclone HD2 unit. I had previously spent months adding MP3 tagging to all my music collection, however when playing (via the Cyclone) most tracks show only the File Path, NOT the MP3 tagging. Is there any solution to this?

  • I do wish Sumvision release more information about this product in terms of the Linux system and customisation of the interface. I can access its linux OS by simple telnet and modify some setting but I can't write to the system's flash ram to modify its permanant settings.

  • could i connect my xbox to this through hdmi and record my gameplay?

im homping to get a cheaper hd recorder that a pvr

  • @MrJakeLSD : Yes and no. You probably can connect the xbox output to the composite input on the player to record it but it won't be HD quality. It records at DVD quality I think 720x576 (PAL).

  • @blade9z i do believe it also has a HDMI Cable port so i think you would also be to record in HD with it although you would need the adaptor. But i am unsure as i do not own it

  • Does anyone know if:

    1. The recorded tv files are sensibly named i.e. the name of the show or is it just the generated filename as it appears to be at 1:41?

    2. Can you record from the EPG?

    3. Does it have series link?

From the forums it seems that what's written on the box is different to what comes out of the box.

    Thanks.

  • @TheFremantleDoctor: Got 1 myself and i think I can answer.

1-Filenames are based on date and time of the show.

2-You can set your recording time on EPG by selecting the show then press the option button.

3- no there is no serial link, but it is a Linux device so you can telnet into it.

  • what Nas functions are included?

will the attached usb external hard drives be visible on my network or just the internal HDD?

    thanks.

  • @BeppePsych: I am not working for sumvision but I can tell you because I got one.

NAS from the onscreen menu are very limited, it is a small version of Samba. If you know Linux and basic unix command you can set more Samba options like more mounting points etc.

By default, only the internal HDD is visible from your network, however, as I said, you can change the samba configuration to include the external USB drive also. The downside is, you are limited to the 100Mbps ethernet transfer speed
