I have seen numismatic coins that are in fact cheaper then bullion here in Germany. For example the 20 Swiss Gold Franks (Vreneli) alse the 20 German Goldmanks
Wow, I didn't know they had $20 coins. Is asking price equal to worth?
Working at the casino, I get A LOT of strange coins I don't know anything about. I usually keep them in a big bucket to cash in when it gets full with the Coinstar. I usually get mad if they don't go through. I'll have to double check what I've got and make sure I don't have anything important!
@ElanaVital83 I'm sure you get a lot of foreign coins, as well as older US coins. If you go to coinflation(dot)com they have calculator there that will give you an idea of the value of the metal that the coin is made of. Now this is just the metal value, and speaks nothing of the collectable value of the coin. For example, a Mercury dime at yesterday's silver price, has $1.38 worth of silver in it. So it is worthe at least $1.38, but maybe more to collectors.
@ElanaVital83 There are US gold $20, $10, $5, $2.50, as well as $1 coins. At one time they were only worth their face value, but now their gold is worth much more than their face value, and they also have added value to coin collectors. At $1,257.20 per oz, a 1920 gold $2.50 Indian Quarter Eagle coin has a gold value of $152.04, but it has a collectable value of even higher than that. So even if it were in really bad condition and had no collectable value, it would still be worth $152.04.
@WORRO01 Thanks, I have more gold coins that I will make videos about. I want all my coin videos to be real, in other words I will only use real gold coins that I have my hands on, and not just pictures of coins like some people use.
@anthritVlog Oh yes, and that is why it is better to buy smaller gold coins, (or even silver coins), than bigger more expensive ones. When I get a chance I will make a video about that topic.
@VirtuallyAddicted You got that right! A gold coin of this size, really does not feel much different than other coins of this size. It is really the bigger gold coins, that you can tell are different from their weight.
@contessaoreilly I have a few other gold coins, a lot of silver coins, and a few old Roman coins. I will make some more coin videos over the next month or so.
@dontheman17 Thanks, many people do not know that you can buy small gold coins that are only a couple of hundred dollars. When it comes to gold coins, the smaller the better.
Good video! :)
