I visited this sub on numerous occasions,and it stood as a monument to those of all nations who lost their lives in the Battle of the Atlantic.What these short sighted officials did is absolutley unforgivable.If there really was no alternative,then U534 shouldve been scuttled again. Even for scrap-metal it doesn't even come close to the historical or monumental value of the ship. They should have sold it to the state of Hamburg or Bremen as a sightseeing or tribute to the builders of the ship. Who doesn't want such a great piece of engineering in his city or attraction-park.
