dennis is the man. come see him on wednesday's for FREE @ northern lights. i think the event is called dinner with coffey. he seems to be very approachable, too
just too much Phaser and delays..intro was cool but it got to be too much later. Can't figure out where he was going with the solos. It's a mellow song not a jam session. Sometimes less is best.
All of the studio guys for Motown/Funk Brothers were heavy into jazz, especially improv. They would take licks from the jam sessions and add them to the Motown tracks, and they would use bits from something they had just recorded for the jazz club jams. Joe Hunter, on piano, especially. You didn't hear much jazz on the records they made, but the influence was there. Like the chord changes and main lick here. Pure jazz.
I seen this guy a couple of months ago at a bar near me. He wasn't supposed to perform but he happened to play this song and it was amazing. Great guy too.. Talked to him for a minute and was real personable. If you live in michigan, you need to go see him.
@madmoses59 2 years later you finally get a reply as to what that guitar is hahahaha. It is a 345 with the varitone control removed. If you look at the fret markers, you'll see they're split. the pickups have the Gibson logo on them, so I'm thinking 68 maybe?
Love this stuff!!!!
