  • Ras, AZ, Louis Logic, Masta Ace... damn, I could make a list of underrated cats who deserve to be in the GOAT list

  • Rasy be the illest! He would lyrically murder any MC. LA WestCoast

  • 'behold the pale horse'

  • Rass Kass' lyricism is the MAIN reason we kept listening...even when we didn't agree with the beats, the dude's a genius. I WISH he'd never had stooped to GAME's level and started that beef. It seems he was always ticked about not getting the props he truly deserves. i hope he keeps pushing and overlook that b.s. -- he's a huge part of why i started rhyming.

  • This is the coldest beat Rass EVER spit on!

  • This was supposed to be from Rasassination, not Van Gough

  • @TheBarkerEstate it's a damn shame it didn't make it to rassassination. it's a shame he didn't pick better beats to rip.

  • @BlackAtticus I agree

  • west west

  • @nashmwo1234..praises to u on that one..behold the pale horse reference...that book is so serious I thought I was the only one who caught that line

  • FOLKS BETTER REALIZE & RECOGNIZE THAT RAS AIN'T NUTTIN 2 PLAY WITH.

HE BEEN DOPE A LONG TIME. AND WILL CONTINUE 2 B. THE USE OF ANITA BAKER IS CLASSIC. NOT 2 MANY PEOPLE CAN DO IT. THIS THAT SHIT............FUR REEL......WORD UP

  • @interestingtheory414

Hell yeah my man word up Rass Kass was actually saying something.

  • Ras kass..where r u hip hop needs u!

  • Amazing

  • So under rated.

  • WHY ARE WE YELLING

  • he kills every sample. no surprises here.

  • The image of ras kass with Van gough go me thinking about frequency wave lengths.

  • Instrumental is so smooth :)

  • you mothafuckas betta reconize

  • He got jerked this would have sold the alblum...i copped but was diapointed ...production did not match the lyrics

  • @mrtsmith1972 This wasnt on Van Gogh. I believe this track is older than Van Gogh, should be one from his soul on ice and h20 days.

Van Gogh however to me is a CLASSIC ALBUM. There was everything on that album. He showed he could make alot of different types of records. Only person who could do that and sound good in my opinon is Jay Z. Versatile thats what Ras Kass is.

  • @upinposting nah it was supposed to be on Van Gogh and the sample from Anita Baker couldnt get cleared....I remember because they were playing it as a promo on white label ....wasn't on the alblum and I was pissed...he is one of the dopest...just bs and not having the right producers..big up upinposting..that soul on ice is one of the most dopest lyrical and concept alblums ever...

  • @upinposting no doubt ... b cool hommie

  • love the william cooper reference about his book behold a pale horse

  • @crazyhiho

Dude, the Jews got reparations for their genocide. The Native Americans should as well. It's only fair. And the reservations aren't shit... It was the worst, most unusable land the USA had.

  • @aaronking90 Correct. Do not forget some of the most crippling poverty in the United States occurs at Reservations. I remember driving through a Crow Reservation right after Clinton visited. The same winter when people FROZE TO DEATH. Unacceptable.

  • Anita, Anita, Anita Baker. DOPE RAS KASS SMOOTH ISH!!!

  • Comment removed

  • 7 idiots don't know music (update)

  • I feel spirituality, ras kass is blessed man

  • one of those tracks you hear you like straight away

  • WEST COAST LEGEND !! TUMBS UP IF U THINK RAS KASS IS POSSIBLY ONE OF THE MOST UNDERRATED RAPPERS OF ALL TIME

  • @89frisco not one of tha most underrated but definitely tha best west coast lyricist to live. hands down.

  • @89frisco

    serious!

  • This is why Ras Kass is still the Golden Boy!!

  • he could be the most lyrical west coast artist

  • @13vickstathaslicksta crooked i

  • I AGREE RASKASS HAS BEEN REALLY DOPE FOR A LONG TIME HES IN THE CIRCLE OF THE UNDERGROUND MC HIP HOP CLASSIC CYPHA MCS LIKE NAS CANIBUS RAKIM IMMORTAL TECHNIQUE

  • @inmoral who is you to be askin questions... this cats on point wit his lyrics

  • I could listen this for decades...Just get in my car and press play..

Cruising,60 miles per hour, perfect speed for relaxing...

  • i played 2 of these tracks over top of each other, one slightly after the other

if you can match it up right you can create an even sicker beat.

  • The sample: Anita Baker- Caught In The Rapture

  • Nice bro nice.... that flow is GQ smooth

  • I agree@BlackCasio

  • Does Ras Kass hate white people? A few of his songs have anti white lyrics in em. I was just wondering,. I'm a white guy but I still love Ras.

  • @XiuTheFeared I've heard that, I dont think he hates white people as you say, rather he is sick of rich white men walking around in their suits and fancy cars walking around like their better than him.

  • @crazyhiho But, aren't there black people in their suits and fancy cars walking around like they're better then most? I just never understood his anti white lyricism when other races do the same thing as the "white man"

  • @XiuTheFeared LOL ras kass isnt a racist. he just like most other rappers are fed up of the white mans trickery and abuse.

  • @XiuTheFeared So true, I dont really get it either... seems like everyone hates white people because of all the shit we did throughout history.

to be honest there arent very many black people where i live, so i couldn't tell you about their mindset. We got a shit load of native americans that are alot worse off as a race then the blacks.

  • @crazyhiho Well I'm black and if you feel discriminated by native americans then go away. It's their country and whites are occupying it. Of course they are gonna hate whites.

  • @KhemAndKurami Good for you... i dont really care what skin colour you are, your a human being and a person in my eyes.

Who said i feel discriminated by natives? Its not their land anymore... They traded it and sold it... people pay them tax paying dollar to this day to share it and help them excel with free college and shit... so what? they hate for what reason.?? if whites didnt dominate north america, some other race would have.

  • @crazyhiho Native Americans would've probably kept it if it wasn't for the whites. They sold it when they had no choice...it was either that or their land being atken by force.

  • @crazyhiho thats a slightly ignorant statement, traded and sold it? they were made to sign off loads and loads of their land in contracts they couldn't even read for a start, the underhand tactics used by the colonists were disgraceful, the majority of land the Indigenous people had there were conned out of! the reason why they can get help from the govt is it is a known fact that the government owe the natives generations of reparations, for the lives they took as well as the land.oh & gold.

  • @LyricistSavvy I dont see why we people living in north america 'owe' them anything... Look at history, countries have been being taken over for thousands of years, and they never got no reparations, just a large death toll.

At least they were given another shot, instead of just being massacred like so many other times in history, not saying what happened is right, but theirs a race largely depending on the government to survive, what happens if the government crashes???

  • @crazyhiho Because we now know that many invasions are unethical and orchestrated by people with power for greed and personal gain. Look at the difference between Iraq and WWII. One was justified (preventing a fanatical regime which over time reveled itself to be genocidal from taking over Europe) and the other was an administration taking advantage of a nation and its allies pain from a massive terrorist attack for a war for oil. One was based on false evidence, the other was simply not.

  • @crazyhiho Basically, over time we realize how evil things like slavery, racism, homophobia, religious discrimination are. We now know that what we did was terrible. They were not given a second chance. They were forced into a very bad situation. Read about the Trail of Tears and then get back to me. You are incorrect in suggestion that they are dependent on the government. Some of them were lucky and have been quite prosperous. Others have no been given land near major population centers.

  • @815Sox Not given a second chance? thats rich buddy. I had a native ask me for change on thursday last week, he asked for 35 cents, i have him 75 cents... he then asked for 3$ directly after... i dont think they deserve jack shit anymore, its been how many years and 65% are depending completely on the government.

im not going to argue anymore though, different people have different perspectives based on their experiances, i just want to enjoy some good hip hop music.

  • @XiuTheFeared He doesn't hate white people, he just hates the distortion of history cause by whites.

  • CLASSIC, CLASSIC, CLASSSIC!!

  • @robintate Camp Lo - Bubblin'

  • @robintate Check out Red Cafe's So Easy remix. It came out back in 09' and he also used the same Anita Baker sample.

  • Van Gogh is a must gett ...... People Sleepn On Ma nIgga Razzy

  • Ya I feel ya, Rass is my top 5 rappers of all time! It shows lack of knowledge in rap, if u havent recognized Rass

  • straight dope sample, same was used on Camp Lo's Bubblin.. dope shit!

  • @marselus88 who does the original to the sample? i heard it on the radio all i know is that its some 80s song.

  • @tag1989 Danm ya niggas don't know shit it was sampled from Anita Baker's "Caught up in the Rapture." Danm read up on ya history danm.

  • @Blacksky17 hey mann give me a break, i was born in 89. i did already say that i heard the sample before, i just couldnt remember who did it.

  • @tag1989 And I was born in 87 but I still know it.came out in 86 by Anita Baker cause I read up my history any real musichead will do that.

  • @Blacksky17 but your not a real music head tho. you just so happend to stumble upon a peice of music and put 2 and 2 together. im a real hip hop head so i guess i wouldnt know much about anita baker, oh well...

  • @tag1989 That doesn't even make sense. How do you know that I "stumbled" upon it? Are you behind me on my computer no. And I knew it first off as of most hip hop songs they are usually sampled. And yes I would consider myself a music head because I know more than just hip hop I know Rnb, Funk, Soul Jazz and classical in which a lot of these samples derive from because most hip hop is sampled off of artists like anita baker, james brown, earth wind and fire, etc. So if you were a hip hop head

  • @tag1989 you were know that information. Even the "suppose" first hit record the sugar hill gang got their sample from slaves "just a touch of love."

  • It's pathetic how many "best rappers ever" lists I see on here. Many leaving out Ras Kass.To me that's like not mentioning Muhammad Ali when discussing the greatest heavy weight boxers of all time. Not only is Ras the illest out west,he's one of the illest period.I was bumpin' this nigga's shit back in 95.

  • rappers like this should be the only rappers.

you need talent to be a good rapper... and to be Really Good

  • This a definitive masterpiece.

    How is this not released?

This is creative genius........the flow, the instrumental.........

It's amazing to me how kids like Rassy Kassy get overlooked.

Maybe because he's not an EastCoast pop-star!

  • Just awesome....beat is really chilling

    this is simply eternal.

  • Slummone with what has happened to hiphop would you blame the Queen, jewel of the Nile Anita Baker?

  • Blakkest that was the Queen herself Anita Baker, Sade is good but not on the queens level. That's that talent that left black people in heaven and every body else on earth and the universe.
