  • frm the 1st part until the 2nd off this video, 90% talks about food price crisis and less abt Cairo's Street Food. I love AlJazeera news and all but this one is a far off the topic. Street food India is the best video.

  • She's talkimg about the Globalization system that Sadat brought to Egypt & he made the Egyptian Pound is less in value than it used to be & the salaries never increase

Then what you get is poverty .I think we started to feel the same way in America when

we import that we export and we loosing our industry & the jobs goes with it .

  • I love the presenter! she is beautiful.

  • ha. my birthday is july 21. xD

  • this seems to be more about social problems rather than street food!

  • @ramboram03 thats typical of Al Jazeera.

  • The host is beautiful!!!!!

  • They shouldn't be focusing on producing bread; there is no way they'll be as efficient as other countries. Trying to achieve 'self-sufficiency' is a really bad idea that will keep them in poverty. Instead, the Egyptians should be investing in industries where Egypt has a natural advantage. It's a warm climate, maybe peppers or something. I don't know, but definitely not bread.

  • @BigPurple121 but their stapple food is bread..most people can only afford bread.

  • @BigPurple121 they need something that will fill them up. Peppers do not fill people, carbohydrates.

  • Aljazeera . . . at least get your spelling right. "staple foods"?

I hope the facts are more accurate.

The "starving population..." you refer to look aver fed to me, just look at "om zooba"!

In fairness, a fantastic documentary. Well done.

  • hey, its called Baladi (national) bread, only found in Egypt and is one of the best kinds of bread when made right. Don't try looking for it abroad, I tried the same in almost ten countries :(

  • what kind of bread was Suzanne baking?

  • These vids r more about economics, a subject which will make u lose ur appetite. Focus on the delicious street foods which r any day anytime better than food served in 5* hotels.

  • October 1989 the first and the last time I been in Cairo. I want to go back very soon.

    I love Cairo.

  • and cairo must love you

welcome any time :) and have anice time

  • I'm going to Egypt on Wednesday and am from the U.S. of Lebanese descent. This video showed me alot! I'm going to try Abu Tarek's place and eat the Ful bean as well. Yes, it was political, but now I have a better picture of what's up in Cairo!

  • ok. Have a wonderful trip!

  • I agree with Nachos.. its very tastey and add cheese or meat to ..omg DELIOUS! u must try it.. we eat it in america yet its a mexican food

  • this video is not about food it's about politic . i watched it because i like street food but it was mostly about politic and how expensive things are in egypt !!!!!

  • You can afford the bread when you will adopt the modern technology

  • incase u aint know egyption have the oldest civilazation in the world .. get 2 know before u pop ur mouth fadma... talking about somali with no land .. , i am a somali myself but i beleive on unity , regadless of land lol..ya dig

  • Don't forget about China also. These videos are great to watch

  • if you were a muslim, you could not say such things, because islam prohibits us from putting others down.

and by the way , it depends where you were in egypt. we have avery dirty restaurants in london , you can die from the food poisoning.

  • i am not an arab. but i love arab, because our beloved prophet saw, was an arab, what they do does not really put me off, because in every community there i a black sheep. by the way what about somalia, they are the most corrupted people on earth. iam a somali my self but i cant say i hate somali as awhole. you should seek knowldedge of islam, because all i can see is an ignorant person who doesn;t know much.

  • The Prophet and his people were real Arabs. Mighty, brave and stood up for themselves. These creatures you see to day in the Arab world are not Arabs, they have evolved in something weak, corrupt and a laughing stock.

I really dont care about Somalia as they have destroyed themselves but I do about Somaliland who, at least, have a functioning state.

  • I got food poisoning in London...

  • I got food poison from ur moma...

  • This very statement of yours, merely, suggests your inferior mentality level...You've just committed a fallacy in your argument. More or less, poisoned food is a world wide issue, and it ain't just in Egypt; e.g, here in the States, you don't wanna eat Chinese food...Don't let your passion cloud your judgment. I see Arabs are fucked-up now, but that's the rule of nature, nothing lasts forever. That's how it goes and circles around. Arabs will have their turn...

  • 5 kids!!! Oh my... how to survive? :-( Goshhhh... govts should allowed and enforced the practice of birth control. I know children are God's gift but if cannot provide food to feed children why have many children. Why let children suffered..:-(

How about hydroponic vegetations for shortage of land?Tortillas and Tacos???
