U.S.companies are hurting because they threw away the stationwagon and replaced it with SUV's (a frame over a truck body) so they could thumb their nose at the tough air quality laws and low emission numbers required of cars by California's new laws. SUV's are categorized as trucks and not cars. With the SUV, the U.S. car industry was able to screw the environment and make money on a machine that kills more teenagers than any other vehicle on the road today.
