Just a suggestion, maybe put Escape back to Guard in the description as you can escape to turtle and work a takedown or sitout to get the back or something as well.
@MMAtips If you're refering to Grant, than I take that as a total compliment. He's a real tough warrior and a full contact no holds barred robot battlecade champion of the WORLD!
In the beggining he says he can go to the other guys back after getting that underhook. Any chance of you guys posting a video of that? I don`t think I`ve seen this.
Its not really an escape. Someone can still demolish you whilst in your guard. How do you get up to your feet safely? Girls are especially interested in being able to get up when pinned.
@kelly980 The concept of an escape isn't to get to your feet to run away, but rather escape from a bad position and get back to a better one, at least in terms of BJJ.
@kelly980 He`s talking about an escape in BJJ and you`re thinking self defense.
BJJ works well for self defense, and I advise you to practice it, but technique takes time and proper instruction to develop. You`ll need good technique to defend against a much stronger attacker.
I`ll also tell you the same thing I tell my wife: attack where he is week. Stick your fingers in his eyes, bite, squeeze his balls if you get the chance. Learn some wrist locks and finger twists as well. No mercy.
@UmDiaEuFicoBom Thanks :) If the guy knows bjj or wrestling will using fingers in the eyes, bites, and attacking the groin work? or would they be prepared for that sort of thing?
@kelly980 If you watch MMA you`ll eventually see professional fighters who can take tons of punches or submissions being forced to stop fights for a while because of accidental finger in the eye or kick to the nuts.
It works no matter how strong the guy is, but a good grappler will try to keep you in a position that minimizes your chances to use those kinds of attacks. The thing is none of those attacks is practiced regularly, so people often don`t expect them. Surprise them.
@kelly980 If your main concern is self defense against stronger attackers and you don`t mind fighting dirty, you should check some videos of Krav Maga. It`s great for that goal. Maybe you`ll like it.
@kelly980 did you really just take everything this video was about, and everyone who it was aimed towards, put it in a black bag, and throw it over the railing on a bridge (along with whatever little amount of intelligent you have)? Is it labeled, how to get out of a mugging situation when your being tackled? Maybe my monitor is fucked up
@bobjoemagee My mistake. I thought bjj was supposed to be all about practical self defence for smaller people against an attack from bigger people. I apologise.
@kelly980 jiu-jitsu is more self defence techniques, bjj is more of a sport version. If the person knows a fighting technique, it doesn't matter, either go for the groin or fake it, reach out a hand as if you were to squeeze them, their position will change, roll out and get to your feet. Also, it's generally best not to let yourself go to the ground if you're not trained to fight off your back, use any tactic to slow the attacker down and then run.
I watched the guy who was on top's videos for muay Thai. Very clever fella.
