  • Arroz con Gandules is not Spanish. It's Puerto Rican and Dominican. This dish is a must during the Holidays, but I have it all the time. Lawd...is she really using Carolina Rice instead of Goya...OMG? She is friggin hilarious. I am surprised. The rice looks pretty good. Ok...I had my doubts, but I recommend this recipe. Go girl!

  • @Imperialdolphin thank you for appreciating that it's not completely "authentic" but it's a good way for beginners to try it <3

  • Funny how I found this again. lol I was showing the kids how you can find how to do ANYTHING on YouTube. I searched "how to make tostones" and this came up after as a recc'd video. They don't believe I know you. :)

  • @AllySmiles201 you seriously think that by watching one video of me that you know me???? I haven't forgotten who I am or where I came from. Reality check sweetie....YOU DO NOT KNOW ME FROM WATCHING A VIDEO!! At the end of the day we are ALL just people, race is just something that narrow minded bigots like you wave around.

  • @PrincessDiana161 You tell her princessdiana! you are who you are and people that watch a video and think that they know you and try to judge you are the ones that are uncomfortable with theirselves. Im a jersey girl and always will be at heart. I think that your video is hilarious with you n "franky" and this dish is amazing. • @Pattycuac Jajaja!

Loved it! Thanks

  • why are ppl so uptight about the exact way to make a dish. sometime cooks like to add their own mix/ twist to a recipe. its what makes it special and their own. can you imagine everyone making everything the exact same way??? i cook for my family and i have my own way of making this dish my family loves it. those of us who enjoy cooking love the creative aspect. yes recipes are at times made to be exact but most can be changed up a bit.

  • ESO ESTA MAL ECHO Y EL SOFRITO NO SE HACE ASI OMG

  • @lpolanco3 then dont make it this way.....it's done this way to make the recipe accessible to anyone anywhere....lighten up!

  • @lpolanco3 as long it taste good thats all that matters dude ! my friends love it !

  • I LOVE YOU ,,,LOL YOUR A FUNNY LADY..IT MAKES IT ENJOYABLE TO WATCH...DO YOU KNOW HOW TO MAKE THE OLD FASHION CANDY STYLE RICE PUDDING?THANKS

  • @x1BeBecillaX3 I'm so glad you liked it.....it's not totally authentic but it's easy and taste pretty good....I'm all about making the kitchen experience easy for myself & others :)

    (((hug)))

  • Love it quick easy to make and it taste really good. don't pay attention to the haters. i also tried your coquito recipe that is freaking good!!!

  • sound Italian: "you want some chorizo in there Frankie... How is that baby?"

  • I haven't seen in my life "arroz con gandules or gandures",(remember both terms are correct) with sausage and fried tomatoes. We must prepare it with with Puerto Rican ham or Canarian ham. I also think that the amount of season was too much for the rice. We want to see just some colour. If we forget the olives and red sweet pepper (pimiento morrón o pimientos del piquillo) we're forgetting the recipe's main ingredients. As a half Spaniard just like me you should know it.

  • This is just my quick version that makes it easy for everyone to prepare, especially first time cooks.

  • @PORSUPUESTO1980 Everyone prepares it differently. That's what makes it a personal dish. Each person who cooks it, does it their own way. No way is right or wrong. I do mine completely different, but it doesnt mean that mine tastes better or hers tastes better. This is her way and how her and her family and friends enjoy it.

  • Puertorra y no te gusta el arroz con gandules!! WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY YYY!!!!!!!!!! by the way if u wanna have a really god arroz con gandules use gandules that are not caned, also add a tablespoon of grated green bananas it will taste even better with that touch of heavenly puerto rican flavor

  • @Darckariel I do like it. My dad was from Spain and my mom was Purto Rican and he was a chef, so the foods I grew up with were more Mediterranean, more like Italian food. But I do love Puerto Rican food too.

BTW your recipe sounds wonderful and I will try it

    (((hug)))

  • 2:45 "Frankie is a walking accident" *long sigh* lol. you guys are hilarious. I needed to master this dish..so I can save money.

  • @PrincessDiana161 , You dont like spanish food ? Why cook Arroz con Gandules?

  • @georgelewis I like it....just not one of my favorite types of foods. I cook it because my daughter loves it

  • @PrincessDiana161 You did not know what you were doing, you think it was arroz con gandules. I feel bad for your daughter who is REALLY MISSING OUT, if she love that dish. Do your daughter a favor get the REAL Recipe and leave NOTHING OUT. The secret is it will NEVER TASTE like arroz con gandules if you are not a true native. You learn by your mistakes.

  • @barbr316 and I feel bad for you that you feel the need to spew instead of understanding that the video was made to make the recipe accessible to people that might not be able to get the authentic ingredients in their area....shame on you.

Of course it wont taste exactly like it came out of a Puerto Rican kitchen you dolt...but it comes damn close for them.

Now run along...I'm sure there are many other videos out there you're dying to critique and spew more venom on.

    BTW (((hug)))

  • @PrincessDiana161 good for you! you are so right!! ..some folks just like to be negative!! so sad....I made your version and it was delicious!!!!

  • @fattycakes23 Sofrito is good on anything...like...anything.

  • el dr es gandul!!

  • Great recipe! U guys are so cute. Tries pollo guisado the other day (dominican dish). Can u give any tips on how to get the chicken not so dry and trashy? Gracias!

  • I miss your cooking videos!!! Come back! :)

  • omg god this dont seem like the real deal but Im not puerto rican so I wouldnt know but it seems good for me... love your attitude so much fun 80) any time you make your food happy it comes out better..

  • Mm..

You use meat? It seems like a lot of people do but everyone in my family use uses olives and nothing else really.

  • This is doesn't seem horrible but it's not the real deal. There is no way that tastes better than mines. I'm just sayin'

  • @Nadine91273 I'm sure it doesn't...jus sayin :)

  • @PrincessDiana161 Well that was sweet of you. You must be a cool person to make that comment to someone who was being kinda bitchy. Cheers to you!

  • I really like this video.

  • ARROZ CON GUANDULES , SPANISH FOOD , WHERE SHE GETS THAT FROM . ARROZ CON GUANDULES DOMINICAN - CARRIBEAN FOOD

  • where the hell is the Sofrito?!!! that's not real arroz con gandules :(

  • @MartyMcFly700 some people make their own sofrito.. I used this recipe it came out really good!

  • i've watched this vid like 100 times just to listen to her talk she seems so warm and inviting lol #random

  • i love arroz con gandules, it's so delicious.... i'm enjoying ur video ur so funny guys....

  • you're really entertaining.

  • I have hooked up all my friends with this dish. My Russian, Chinese, polish, Americans, Belorussians, and Indians friends love love my rice. She has it right except for something. She didn't add recao, or for those who live here, cilantro. The magic of this dish is the sofrito, and without cilantro is lil bland. Personally is my favorite dish, can eat this everyday all day.

  • Saison is MSG

  • @Diabolik771 Well we all have to die sooner or later. =/

  • Thank you for the suggestion:) I favorited the vid & am going to recommend it!

  • I want to make this... i wanna use half a tablespoon of recaito ... do u suggest it?

  • @joannitabonita sure...make it your own and add the things you like (((hug)))

  • Sazon is
