I can vote a party....but there will never be party in power. Therefore no party is responcible for anything.
Also the people in East Germany were allowed to elect parties. The elections have had the same impact on the goverment like european elections.
I'm a big supporter of the EU but the parliament is an insult.
It is a pity how uncritical German democrats are. They do expect the enemies of democtracy from the right side only.

1.The EU ELECTIONS are not democratic : In a real democracy every vote has the same weight.
38,000 votes are needed in Luxemburg to chose an MEP. Thats 16 times more political clout than a German voter where 628,000 are needed !
2.Europeans were never asked if they wanted an EU parliament & an un-elected legislative.
3.Most Europeans (in recent polls) do NOT WANT the EU to be given more power.
4.Why plan for a European army unless the EU is to become an `Empire ´(Barrosso).
Don't vote

I believe Ms. Novakova is right on the money: of course there is a "democratic deficit", people are too lazy to get involved in the governing of their own lives!
