If you use boots is because you're horse is going to lift more on its legs:) Some horses doesnt have too use it and some have to:) I use it sometimes on mine:D He's the best horse in the world:)
I do not understand, if this is a "natural" horse, why so much contact to gait? why riders sitting on the loins? why so much fighting the bit?
Perhaps a more natural style of riding would better suit a natural horse?
No nosebands, no bits, no whips, no cantle sitting, no heavy contact, no boots (breed for better legs so that they do not need protection or weight to gait).
If your horse opens his mouth, you're out!
If you need boots, your horse's legs aren't good enough, you're out!

Boots are simply for protection, it´s the same thing as your helmet; hopefully you don´t need it, but it´s good to have if an accident would happen.
In what sequence does a horsse run with its mouth open, and "fighting the bit"? I don´t see it. A lot of the gaits are performed at long rein.
