....wait? Why does the Celica even have a vent on the back part of the hood if the intake manifold and air filter are in the front?
Kind of useless it seems... but whatever, at least its a nice car.

Because cold air goes through the scoop, hits top of the engine and the rear fire wall bounces back and cools the engine..while also taking heat away from the exhaust and carrying it towards the rear of the car.
