I remember when neither Dirge or Crisis Core or any follow up FF7 content had been released, and the common census of what happened after FF7 was that when the lifestream came at the end, it had fulfilled it's purpose of cleansing the planet of all harmful things, and humans being included in the process.
Feel free to disagree with me, but IMO, Crisis Core and Dirge of Cerberus were fantastic games. I have owned, played, and completed both, and yet have NOT played FF7. I understand the story of FF7, and to me, these games just add to the wonder of the game. There is a lot of backstory you can unlock if you find them (they are hidden in the game) and they explain all of this. Vincent was in love with Lucrecia, but Hojo ended up with her, and fathered Sephiroth with her. Hojo then implanted fetus-Sephiroth with Jenova cells, which made him super human. Sephiroth went crazy when he discovered all of this (Nibelheim).

I know that Seph looks more like Vincent, but there is actually a reason for this - when Jenova fell onto the planet, they believed at first that it was a Cetra; thus, they did experiments on another Cetra. The person looked just like Sephiroth. Jenova took over the body and basically used it as her own. That's why Seph looks the way he does - not because Vincent is his father, a rumor proven false by Square.

I find it funny that some fans wished Dirge of cerberus was never released because it gave away why Vincent was so mysterious. Well in FFVII, there's a hidden scene when you find Lucrecia in the crystal caves and it triggers a flashback to the time he first met her in nibelheim and how he became a experiment and immortal. Dirge of cerberus just added alot more detail into his backstory.

He's so mysterious and cold to some, but I think under all that is someone who's hurt so badly from losing someone they loved so much and just needs someone to love them back. guys... seriously now, not joking... final fantasy VII (despite the emoness fellings of Cloud) has been, and always will be one of my favorites video games... what story... what epicness... great charactes and plot... I mean really square enix had so much talent these days... these heroes that saved our planet will always be at our hearts...

To all those noobs who assume Cloud is Emo. Cloud is most certainly NOT an Emo, he is severely depressed. If you watch Advent Children, you see that Cloud refuses to help Tifa, mainly because he believes he's unfit to help anyone, due to the fact that he didn't manage to save Aerith. He feels terrible about this and desperately wants to be forgiven. So, before you people make judgements, check the story, and it becomes clear that Cloud is far from Emo.

Though the connotive root of the word reffering to the clothing style, is supposed to indicate that the clothing style signifies such, Emo has NEVER been an emotional state.
