  • @javedmk80 u have to wait for 1 yr before u can lable someone a having post prostatectomy incontinence, best option for ur father is artificial urinary sphincter

  • ahhhhhh!!!!

  • I had this procedure a week ago and I recommend it to any male who has an enlarged prostate. The procedure has not only helped urination but has decreased depression, tiredness and anxiety. It also has prevented an infected bladder and kidneys. OK, so it is uncomfortable for about four or five days, but that fades with an increased feeling of well being. Go for it. Don't be afraid.

  • @veryfussy Thanks for your comments. But my father did the procedure & he is suffering now from an uncontrolled urination. Doc said it will be OK within 3-4 months, but its been almost a year now with no improvement. Any idea if u have a solution. Or did u suffer frm this same issue? Waiting for ur answer

  • i have this 1 year ago when i was 13. i was put awake and the treatment is very pain . in need to do that 1 day 2 hour for 1 week after 1 week i need to injection inside 1 day 4 time 5 injection after the injection they get the blood water out 4 time a day the treatment end in 3 month

  • From a 3rd year medical student in West Virginia, THANKS! Love this video, I'm on a urology rotation now and this is a great warm up for surgery tomorrow!

  • @fullnelsondnb Lucky, how did it go?

  • why isn't prostatic massage used in conjuction with antiobiotics prior to this invasive surgery ? After all, BPH is just pustules of staph etc. in an area that is hard to reach and break them up for antibiotic rich blood to reach, yes ? Prostatic massage is ubiquitous in the east, and you never heard of BPH there.......

  • @sonick808 BPH is just overgrowth of the actual tissue of the prostate itself. You're thinking of prostatitis, which can be caused by infection and can be treated with antibiotics. BPH is managed at first with medication and when that has failed, TURP is considered.

  • Tanks amazing watching this, and thanks for the commentary.

    Very interesting.

  • hi there's something i really dont understand about turp.

Doesn't it actually slice away the top part of the urethra too??

Really appreciate any input. Thanks so much.

  • Appearently they perforate the urethra before scraping off the excess prostate tissue.

  • Two months after TURP, my urine flow is noraml and strong as it was before TURP, but the quantity voided each time is about 150 ml after evey three hours or so. Will this improve substantially? I am to see my urologist on the 22nd of this month.

  • @ganapathy1900 same thing happened to me and i was told that TURP was unnescessary for me as i was suffering from SHY BLADDER SYNDROME. you can have and CNG tests to further fix the problem.

  • @easwarlicooty paruresis (shy bladder) and urgency / frequency shouldn't be related

  • Thanks for your encouraging words. After my TURP on April 16, 2009, now after about one and a half months, my urination is a bit okay in the sense that the flow is free and strong as it was before TURP,but the quantity voided each time is just 150 ml after about every three hours or so. Will this improve further? I am seeing my urlogist on the 22nd of this month.

  • I am 64 years old. I underwent TURP on April 16, 2009 Biopsy snhows nodular hyperplasia of prostarte with prostatitis. What does this mean? Benign?. Urination is still not normal. Surgeon says it will take a months or so for normal urination.

  • Nodular hyperplasias are benign, and never turn cancerous. If it's not blocking your urethra or giving you other trouble, just don't worry about it.

The fact that your urinary flow isn't normal, however, is a cause for concern. That's what happened to me after my TURP too. A cystoscopy showed that I had some scarring from the TURP, and I had to have a second procedure to have the scar tissue removed.

  • Awesome!

  • the use of water in this procedure, although necessary to avoid electric conductance, can cause hyponatremia and TURP syndrome. Using the steward model, Ringers lactate would be more appropriate management of this condition than standard saline.
