@STOOKIE00 The penalty taker is not allowed to touch the ball twice, in order for him to rebound the attempt an opponent (most likely the goalkeeper saving it) or teammate must come into contact with the ball. If he was to do the crossbar trick in a game, it would result in a indirect freekick to the defending side i.e. its the equivalent of passing to yourself.

Im not sure what league you play but in american "soccer" the ball is live until the keeper gets control of it, the ball goes out of bounds or the player scores. look online you will see this often. Also, if it is in fact slightly outside the box it would be a direct kick and live play would resume upon foot touching ball. Generally, the ball gets touched once however.
