I just don't remember WHY or HOW I ever even thought that she was less artistic than her counterparts back then... Her presentation, style, line, spins, etc. etc. were NOT BAD AT ALL. In particular, the slow part is quite impressive for a 14-year-old!
This is the greatest example of the rotten politics of figure skating. I was a skater and I can tell you that talent has nothing to do with titles. This is done in the skating field- tell someone that they are developing and then later on she was dismissed for being a has been. Hello. Linda Fratienne did two triples. They keep saying she is only 15 but so was Linda when she won worlds. What politics!! Such talent, never really recognized.

The analogy of comparing Zayak to Olga Korbat is so true -- both Elaine and Olga go down in the record books as being innovators in their respective sports -- Zayak was the pioneer in the triple Jump mania for Women's figure skating in the '80's - while she wasn't the first female to land a triple she is considered the pioneer as a result of the # of triples she would successfully execute in her programs -- it is nice to see Fratianne congratulate Zayak here -I think Linda saw her heir apparent
I hated how many 2axels the skaters would do in their routines back in the 80s. It really was way too much.
